Good video. I look after a holiday home here in France with a pool. The pool seems to be inconsistent in as much as it can be crystal clear and wonderful then for no apparent reason it goes green. I have tried your backwash and rinse sequence this morning and loaded up the chlorine tabs so I hope for a result soon. The filters seem to be working better as there is now no floating debris on the pool. Fingers crossed!
Thanks borjastick! The number one reason for a pool turning green is a lack of chlorine in your pool. It sounds like you are moving in the right direction by getting chlorine back in your water. We will be releasing a comprehensive video on this topic shortly so be sure to subscribe to keep up with our latest videos.
My handle broke off yesterday but it was the diverter? the bit the handle pins onto and has a spring on it below the multiport. is this an easy fix if i can source the part? i see no branding on my multiport, are they a generic size? thanks and great video
Replacing a multiport valve diverter is not easy, unfortunately. It takes a little muscle to compress the spring so you can install the handle pin. If you want an easier route, most valves have top assemblies that includes the handle, valve cover, spring, gaskets and the diverter pre-assembled. All you have to do is remove the broken diverter and drop in the new one. Hi William, if you have a crack in the valve or a bad spider gasket, then water could drain from the pool while the system is running. We have a How-To Guide on replacing a broken spider gasket found here: www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_replace_a_spider_gasket_on_a_multiport_valve.aspx
Hello. I have a 2-speed pump. 1/2-2hp. .18' above-ground pool. Somewhere is read to use a higher setting to backwash. Is 1/2 hp ok to backwash? I am always Leary to use 2-hp because of hoses popping off. Thx!!
+Alex Huang if the pump is still running when you turn the valve handle, you may unseat or blowout your spider gasket from the diverter. This would cause water to flow out of your waste line when you set at normal filter mode and generally have water going where you do not want/need it.
Hi Joe, did you replace the valve yourself? If so, was it the complete valve or just the key seal assembly? If you have water leaking through the waste port, it's usually due to improper assembly, or a broken or faulty spider gasket.
Good video, however shouldn't we always turn the valve in one direction? Everyone I know turns them clockwise, so as not to rub the diverter gasket back and forth.
Yes, you would want to always turn it on one direction. This means always turning it clockwise or always counterclockwise. Switching it back and forth can pinch/damage the spider gasket.
I am very grateful for clear direction of how to backwash after few days of shower and pool is dark green when i call your consultation line.
Thanks
R Tsin Thank you!
We wanted to Thank you very much for your very informative videos. They have answered so many unanswered questions.
Thank you!
Provides great insight into how the valve and filters works, thanks!
Thank you!

Jo Goodwin Thank you!
Awesome thanks
can the multi valve go bad,and let the water drain out of pool even in filter mode

For thorough cleaning I suggest backwashing on high speed.
What will happen to the valve if the pump is not off? Please advice

How many cups of DE to dose if the DE filters reaches almost 30 psi when the pump runs. What are the step-by-step guide. Please advice.
+Alex Huang The amount of DE needed to recharge a filter is dependent on the size of your filter. What is the model number of your filter?
Great video explains in straightforward terms the filter valve operation.

my new diversion valve is leaking out the waste port after running a while, help!

He doesn’t say how long you leave it on rinse after your backwash

All all the preliminary stuff the beginning of your video is time wasting to me. To me let's get right to the point
Never complain when you get something free, in this case how to use your multi valve..
