Another great vid my friend! It’s through videos like yours, comparing tools, finishes, sharing product ideas that we can enjoy our hobby without breaking the bank…. Too much. Lol
Thanks for the review. I bought two of these Woodpecker bits (8mm shank in 12mm and 16mm). I agree with you. They are good quality, produce good results, and are competitively priced.
This is an ongoing debate in many groups and forums. Pay the premium price from Shaper and support the company, or go with products from outside companies to save cash. I have neither of the bits mentioned, as I went even cheaper with some off brand from Amazon before purchasing a higher quality bit from Whiteside (which is slightly less expensive than the Woodpeckers). Good stuff as always my friend. You've got to have quite the collection of bits stockpiled after all these comparisons
Thanks man - yes, I am drowning in bits and won't run out of them anytime soon, haha. I wasn't aware that there are many people who think one should buy their bits to support the company. That sounds like a weird concept to me, almost like a cult. I do buy Shaper gear, I have to Shaper Origins, two workstations, one plate. But I won't buy things from them where I think their price-benefit-ratio is off, else they have no incentive to compete freely with others. But yeah, everyone is free to act as they want, and if they feel like "donating" 100 bucks to Shaper for a bit, then that sounds good to me... haha...
The suprising thing is that Woodpeckers came in cheaper on something for a change. I've got some other Woodpeckers products and they are very high quantity, but generally priced accordingly. Good to know i can get some quality aftermarket bits as i begin this Shaper journey.
I really appreciate these Shaper comparisons - really informative and they always makes me want to get my Origin out and be creative. Just a thought on the speed of cut comparison (apologies if this is known) - If you hold the green button for the Origin to auto follow the cut path, does it adjust the speed of movement depending on the resistance it feels, or is it always the same speed and just 'pulls out' if it struggles? A long straight cut comparison might show if one cutter makes easier work than the other? Just a thought!
Thank you for your kind words. Your idea sounds great, but unfortunately that is not how the Auto-Feature works. That feature runs at a set speed which you can edit in the "Speeds" menu. It will run at that speed no matter what, and if the wood is too hard it pulls back. As far as I know, auto-pass adapts the speed to the material's resistance, so that might be a way to test it, but I didn't buy auto-pass, hence I can't test it...

That's right! You need to have something left to go golfing, right? :D

Nice, glad we agree, and most welcome :D

Welcome to the Shaper Origin family! And yeah, many commented that for once Woodpeckers is more affordable, which seems to be an exception...

Dang. Wish I had known. Would have bought Woodpecker one. I even got the Shaper one on sale and still WAY more expensive.
Damn, sorry, I came too late. But yeah, I bought the Shaper one too... :D
How was customs charges? Great video 👌
No customs charges. In Switzerland orders below 60 CHF are excempt from customs, and 60 USD = ~54 CHF
Did you send your Shaper bit back to them to be sharpened or have it done locally?
I sharpen all the things locally. Does Shaper even offer that service?
@@Woodensoul I doubt that they do, but I’ve never actually looked.
@@lenkuffert7428 Yeah, I highly doubt they do... and if they would, it would be super expensive
