We visit triprayaar every time we go to guruvayur. Ramayanam reading is never missed during karkkidakam month. Sri Raman as we refer the lord is very important in kerala.
Yes, but mostly we are deeply associated with Krishna, Mahavishnu, Devi ( Amma ) , Mahadevan... We Celebrate Ramayana Maasam, goes to temple all that is right, but the North has more sentimental attachment to Rama than what we have in Kerala, that's true.Like, we may have a Devi, Krishna, or Mahadevan photo in almost every Hindu Homes in Kerala, but Raman photos in Pooja rooms wouldn't be as common as it is.. Whereas other states have Hanuman and Sita-Raman so common as their deity of worship than us.
Every third person in south has Ram in his name. Ram is worshipped accross the nation but this dravadian anti Sanatan politics is solely responsible for this Rama and shiva divide
Dravida nadu is actually the geographical Identity representing the south of the indic civilisat ion. Sanathan is same across this civilisation. Maybe south protected a more puritan form of temples & rituals as north had a very rough 1,000 yrs .Especially moghul period kings imposed sharia based traditions like covering head for women which became part of culture also they introduced persian , Turkish language and arabic script which us not seen much in south india.
The birthplace of Jesus is precious to Christians across the world. Why is it hard to respect the feelings of more than a billion people who waited over 500 years to see the return home of their Lord?
Interesting interview. As a South Indian, I am unsure about the views expressed here that Sri Ram (Sri Raman as we call him) is not revered or worshipped as much in South India. There may be fewer temples of Sri Ram compared to Sri Krishna or Sivan (Mahadevan) and Devi for example in Kerala but the reverence for Sri Ram has always been on a very high level and that chant Hare Rama Hare Krishna echoes across the temples in the whole region and austerities are observed during special occasion during the year connected to Bhagwan Ram. I think people often confuse religious practices and rituals observed in different regions of India to gauge the level of devotion. Sri Rama is an integral part of Indian culture and civilisation and even that concept of "North-South" divide should not exist amongst us when it comes to matters of Sanatana Dharma because how can the Lord of the Universe be confined to a region on earth? I understand that there are people who talk in limiting terms but that is their small-mindedness and limited, literal understanding of spirituality. In some cases, politics takes precedence in such conversations. That causes all these erroneous conclusions.
By definition a long or a lengthy poem is called an "epic" or an "odyssey" chronicling a series of events into an epic narrative, like the Mahabharata or the Illiad, etc.
For who doesn't know who Sri M is he is a born Muslim who has embraced santhana Dharma and has spent all his life learning and experiencing the true essence of Santhana.
Nowhere is Puri Shankaracharya against the inauguration? His words were also twisted out of context. His actual interview was provided by one of the South Indian channels-Hindudharmakshetram. It was very clear from it that the Shankara Acharya did not oppose it at any time. The words were entirely asked by the media interviewer, who kept insisting on the reason and used those words that were purported to be said by Shankaracharya.
Epic. Odysee of Homer and long stories like that with deeper meanings about human life are called epics. And by the way for me as a Sri Lankan tamilian Ram means a lot to me. My grandfarther used to tell me the Ramayana story. I am very emotional these days and tamil language is full of references to Ramayana. It is another giid example of how DMK's ideology is not congruent with tamil culture at all.
No one wants to allow the fire to settle. My brothers and sisters of the country should look at it as the remedy for the misdeeds committed by the barbarians who invaded our country. Media and politicians portrayed as though our Muslim brothers are at the receiving end. But Indians do not have any connections to those invaders but for the fact that some of us happen to share the same belief system. Religion is personal so no one can comment including courts. Let the narratives change .🙏
Rama not being popular in the south is incorrect. Almost all Tyagaraja krithis are on Rama and a lot of Purandara krithis too are based on Rama and Ramayana. Expect more research from an anchor before making such statements.
The earliest reference of Ram is from Valmiki Ramayan In Valmiki Ramayan Ram is referred as Maryada Purshotam which means a dignified and elevated man He is not projected as a God Was made into a God sometime during the Puranic era that is around 1950---1400 years ago . Also all religions are Man made So whether Ram is a God or not is a matter of personal opinion and personal faith
First tell Me what is GOD according to you ?? Becos you are comparing Sri Rama as the GOD in terms of Abrahmic conditions or idea .The goal of every hindu is eventually to attain divinity within and Sri Rama is ideal as he was radiating this divinity in his every action , word & life . We also seek a guru who can who will help us achieve this state , and deity like Sri Rama can help individuals in moksha hence he is a deity. Some seek living GURU to lead while majority seek deity . This culture is totally misunderstood with Abrahmic GOD ideology brought into picture through modern education. We don’t have a GOD ( Abrahmic concept ) in hindu civilisation, Brahman of veda isnt the GOD of thr Bible or Quran , it is a whole different concept .
According to the Bhagvata Purana Shri Rama is one of the ten main Avataras of a lord Vishnu. 20:08 avatars are those representing or voluntarily taking on name and form by the all pervading supreme Lord for a specific purpose for example protecting Dharma or riotousness etc. in other words he is born enlightened and endowed with divine powers.
Pranams to Sri M Puri Sankara Acharya may be a well read man But that does not make him a spiritual man Me may have written books But that does not make him even a devotee Steeped in ritualistic tradition and merged with position of ego he has forgotten how many people have sacrificed their lives to this cause.
