Near the start of this video you was outside a restraunt called Oscar, we've been several times and love it. Was recommended to us by a local a few years ago. We've also been to that Chinese and also got the set meal, it was amazing and the presentation is stunning they carved carrots into owls and everything. Shame you went when it was so cloudy but I bet you still had an amazing time x

Hi Tracey, yes we have been to Oscar's also but a long time ago - there are so many places to eat in Corralejo!. Asia Garden was amazing as you say, plus that Indian - oh my word, what fantastic food at Everest Spice!. One thing you can't do...even for a TH-cam channel is control the weather sadly, nevermind always have a wonderful time anyway. Oh...getting closer to your trip now x

On the subject of feeling safe in Corralejo - other vloggers (David Evans, among others) have said that the resort has a drug problem and there are some shady characters who can be quite threatening. An exaggeration or is there some truth to it? And on an entirely unrelated subject, have you been to the Land of Freedom restaurant? By all accounts a hidden gem (and not cheap).

Wow honestly Jason that shocked me, drug problem and shady characters in Corralejo, I mean I am not saying that doesn't happen but my true opinion is that can't possibly be true but then I don't live there. You can always get trouble in places, but honestly I just can't see it been in Corralejo, in all the years I have never witnessed anything there. There are two places I have been in my whole life where I would feel safe on my own and at night, Disneyland Paris & Corralejo - no where else would I feel that safe to be honest. Years ago, when I was young and foolish I got up at silly times to go running - completely alone along the seafront in Corralejo, across the beaches and up to the start of the Sand Dunes (yes told you I was young and foolish...now I am old and foolish getting up silly times to do TH-cam editing ha ha). I am not sure I would do running early morning in Corralejo but only for one simple reason...don't think I physically could, my legs would give way ha ha - nothing to do with not feeling safe. How about many places in the UK or many tourist destinations, how safe do any of us feel in those places?. Many cities have people sleeping rough, drug scenes and trouble in the streets - but picturing those type of scenes in Corralejo just makes no sense to me at all whatsoever, in fact coming to think about it I am not even sure I have ever heard a police siren on a police vehicle there and the people of Corralejo, I have only encountered friendly lovely people who live and work there...not sure about all the tourists but still I have never seen signs of trouble. There are many things I could say about Corralejo been windy and cloudy ha ha but never drugs and shady characters, again just my thoughts but you did ask!. No we didn't visit Land of Freedom, we did go somewhere wonderful though coming up in the last vlog of the series. My replies to comments on tonight's video are getting very deep...but all good, great we are here on the TH-cam platform chatting about things like this. Thanks for watching and commenting Jason.

Sorry to butt in but I've been to that restraunt last year. It's a lovely concept with the boards with different tapas type foods on and wines to match each dish attached to the boards but the food is just OK and one dish was awful. The desert sharing board however was absolutely delicious. Its not actually that expensive you can obviously find cheaper places but I think it cost us about 70 euro for 2 people having tapas boards each with wine and desert board

Probably best not to name other vloggers and their comments!!

@annhunt8534 Well, the individual in question made a video on why he left Corralejo, during which he identified "bad eggs" and some shady individuals who, in his opinion, have changed the character of the place. Knife crime was also mentioned, which I have to say surprised me. In the comments section there are references to drug dealers. He also mentioned a spike in the cost of rent. So it's kinda been made public by him in a vlog that's had 13,000 viewings.

Gosh it looks very depressing there, in your walk around, cloudy, dead and dirty.

Hi Amy, thanks so much for watching and commenting, firstly depressing?...NO that's what kicked in for us when we got home ha ha, Corralejo is not a place that feels depressing when you there in person - cloudy?, rustic?, old in places? yes but never depressing. Well I did say at the start that it was cloudy...I sadly can't do anything about the weather, this was disappointing this time for us not having as much sunshine and obviously Fuerteventura has the wind that people either are ok with or hate it. Everything looks better with the sun for definite! - check out our NEXT VIDEO of the Sand Dunes and us eating out (a beautiful sunny day, which shows Corralejo's true beauty). Not sure if you have watched all this video but I do include some clips of what the beaches look like with the sunshine & a busier street to the one I vlogged early morning so to show the difference. I filmed early on a morning so I could walk freely around without bothering other people too much and to make less awkward, especially if you are giving opinions on places so that is why the streets are less busy. The streets are busier through the day and evening, again there are clips shown in this video and other videos in our Corralejo series or from our 2022 Vlogs that show this. The point of this video is one to show people who watch us, who might be interested in what we do when in Corralejo but also anyone new to Corralejo some places where to go for Food, Drink & Shops and some of those places look nothing from the outside but doesn't mean they are not great. I had to make a choice whether to film in cloudy quiet conditions but give some good information that would hopefully help people or not do it at all, I decided on the first option as I want to show true life and make helpful videos. On the subject of Corralejo been dirty in anyway, honestly compared to many places in the UK, I know where I would rather be. Corralejo is an old fishing village and has a rustic charm about it, nothing fancy and very laid back. When we first started going there 23 years ago there was hardly foot paths let alone much else, just some Restaurants with some amazing people that we haven't seen in recent years and sadly many of the Restaurants that we went to are not there now. Is it the Corralejo we loved from years ago?, No it's not the same given many people we used to know (locals) do not have businesses there now and sadly although Tourism is a great thing, it can spoil places. For us, it still retains that charm and has many memories for us as a couple, when Emily was a little girl and my mum that used to come with us who has passed away now but like everything, everything changes.
We will still return as it has always retained something special to us and I think you can't always put a price on feeling relaxed somewhere, good food & drink, beautiful beaches and lovely people. We will obviously travel many other places, as we have done and will we go to Corralejo every year?, No but we will return. All I would say is anyone going for the first time don't let cloud and wind put you off...first time we went the actual sunbeds flew up in the air with the wind (I said I am not sure I want to come back here with this wind) and look at us now 23 years on. Thanks again for watching.
