Quite possibly the BEST video on programming the ZIBO FMS I have seen yet. There is alot you provide that others simply glaze over. Very much appreciated!
Excellent explanation of the PERF INIT and N1 LIMIT pag3es of the CDU. I especially liked the way you high-lighted the numbers in the Simbrief briefing.
This vid should have many more views. I fly 737-900's for a major U.S. airline and work with aspiring military and airline pilots--kids in the CAP--to introduce them with X-plane's Zibo mod to introduce them to CRM and most of all, running the entire complete checklist, with special emphasis on safety tests. A few suggestions: You entered 40 as your flex temp. This temp can only be calculated with a sophisticated computer (Boeing supplies ours) and in the real world if you miscalculate it, it could be a bad day. This happened to an Emirates flight about 10 years ago. Second, when you see "vectors" on your legs page, that's essentially where ATC is going to have you scrub the plan you entered into your FMC--at least at that point. As an example, the OFP for KLGA to KFLL has the waypoint CRANS as the transition for the Fisel7 STAR to Runway 28R and route description states you should be at about 15,000'. The problem is the TOD is at the FISEL, approximately 105 miles to the SSE. The problem should be obvious. If you're TOD is FL360, how can you be at FL150 at CRANS? The answer: vectors. ATC will jump in and take over. You cannot blindly follow the guidance of your inputed OFP. Check out this link: flightaware.com/live/flight/JBU1371/history/20190124/0245Z/KLGA/KFLL/tracklog You can see that the TOD was at 12:37 a.m. more or less but the STAR for 28r calls for 15,000 at CRANS which would have been 17 minutes and 115 miles to the north. A graphic of the flight actually looks like this: www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/dl1527#1f45f46b So, here's the deal: when you see vectors you in the real world you need ATC to give you the proper descent profile which, as you can see, is nothing like the SIMBRIEF OFP, at least in terms of the TOD. Maybe I just don't know how to set up the FMC for a real-world descent profile or there's a bug in Zibo or SIMBRIEF. To make sure I got it right, I would use the data on this link to set altitude, airspeed and heading bugs flightaware.com/live/flight/JBU1371/history/20190124/0245Z/KLGA/KFLL/tracklog It could be edited obviously. You might have to crosscheck your waypoints with the long. and lat. of the real-world descent. That's not how it's done on the job. It does suggest there's a lot more going on than x-plane would have you believe.
Thank you for pointing this out, though as a pilot I'm familiar with vectors and ATC. In fact I tell non-pilot simmers all the time that 90% of the time ATC vectors in aircraft. It's just that X-Plane doesn't have ATC (or at least anything remotely reliable) and PilotsEdge is a bit pricey for the Sunday afternoon simmer, so I indeed take short cuts. Thanks for the warning on flex temp. I asked a couple of Southwest pilots recently how they come up with that number and they said it's all a bit of magic from Dispatch. But I will take your point sand follow your links to add a bit more authenticity into my videos. Thank you for your indepth reply. --Brad
Nice job and video Brad! Do you know the flightdeck2sim channel? This guy is a real pilot, and giving a hand to Zibo to improve this bird. Thanks for sharing your nice videos, cheers.
Great video. When you setup the runway, weight and payload in the x plane menu, the total fuel and payload you insert or choose should match the sim brief flight plan data, correct? Payload and block fuel i mean.
I cant figure out how to do those quick view changes for the various positions in the cockpit....how do you autozoom to the fms, or the overhead panel etc.?
Quoting the manual: " Set the view to however you like it, and assign it to Quick Look 1 by pressing Ctrl+Num Pad 1 (i.e., the control key, with the 1 key on the number pad). Note that the Num Lock must be on in order to do this (PC). Now, no matter how your view changes, when you press the shortcut for Quick Look 1 (by default, Num Pad 1)"
I think you are inserting a temperature of 40 deg Celsius that's why engine is derating. OAT is simply inserted by pressing L1 button, it picks it from temp sensors.

This was the most beneficial video on dealing with the N1 stuff that I have seen yet. Thank you so much for this.
Thanks to you I finally know how ti fill [perf init] temperature....was looking for that. Thanks
Amazing lesson, thanks from Brazil!

Yes, I have learned a lot from him.
Great video thanks very clear
very informative video thanks
So how do you initialize the FMC if you're in flight, say after a electrical failure?
Thank you so much for this video, you deserve more views for sure.

Yes, although I sometimes wonder just how accurate SimBrief is. My jury is still out.
Nice job! 👍
Thanks you. You are my GOD of X-plane.

Brilliant Thank you
thank you very much sir regards from iraq
You are welcome. Good to know there are simmers in Iraq
@@BradCathey im prof in flight sim x but in x-plane 11 i start sense 2 months and i asked how to get airbus 320 zibo
Comments? Just: Well Done !

If you import a flight plan does it fill ALL of this for you or only some parts?
Just parts, if anything at all ;)
Brad Cathey does it fill in the PERF page?
@@jarzo9259 No. Performance should be entered for the exact conditions of your flight. It changes by the hour and sometimes by the minute.
