When pushing and ahoeveling this type of snow, it takes a massive load of cardiac function... that is why it enduces heart attacks. 75% of cardiac output used in shoveling which is athlete style cardiac exertion
It’s a common occurrence and a yearly warning reminder. Happens all too easily. You’re better off clearing your area more often and in smaller amounts for less strain.
It's a way for them to not categorize it as an "excessive death"... they were SNOWPLOWING and suffered cardiac arrest. What's next, cardiac arrest while pushing your cart at the grocery store 🙄
I'm 60 years old. 5 years ago I bought an 18"-wide Toro Snowthrower electric snowblower (and an electric extension cord) to do the work of cleaning the snow from my 40-foot-long driveway instead of having to use a shovel to clean it. It cost me $300 at Home Depot but I think it has probably saved my life at least once. I used to be panting and breathing heavy while lifting heavy wet snow, now I just push a bit on the blower and the blower does all of the work instead.
Tell this to the city. Every winter the snowplow that comes by adds a 4FT high snowbank to my driveway because I live in a corner lot. It brings in all the snow from the main street onto my lot. It takes hours before I can clear them.
Nobody calls it “heart attack snow” These people’s deaths were horrible tragedies but you are being silly and melodramatic. If they had died waterskiing, would you call it “death skiing”?
Almost all snow in the lower mainland, west coast is wet snow. One would think the population would have tanked over the last decades. Only recently has any physical exertion suddenly become so dangerous. 🤨
A basic snowblower pays for itself in two to three years compared to the annual cost of a a plow service and will last for decades with proper maintenance.
sorry but that is a terrible way to shovel snow.... the trick is to build a hill and to push the snow which when done well means you never lift a shovel full of heavy snow thus reducing the risk of back injury or heart trauma.....
I am 63 and can shovel snow all day long…that’s because l train 4 days a week, eat healthy and don’t spend my days watching television! Get in shape !!
Heart attack snow is the snow that the city plow leaves at the bottom of your driveway.
I usually just let the snowblower deal with it. /shrug

The municipality should be doing the sidewalks like they used to. Taxes are enough to return to this.
They did in my old neighbourhood 10 years ago
No, they need that fro re-naming schools, teaching DEI themes, teaching kids that women are not women, etc etc

They were both using snowblowers according to EMS. Snowblowers are self propelled. No one died from shovelling.
I heard that, so how is the snowblower bad, I thought that's what you needed to do not to get a hearth attack.

It happens every time when there is a big storm and if the snow is wet.

Yes. Wet heavy snow is hell to shovel. It's almost like moving a shovel full of concrete,
It's an annual news story every year as long as I can recall.
Problem is no one wants to quit when they have to clear their drive but such work is far more strenuous than they're fit for.
I’m not trying to spread misinformation but I wonder why?

Snow plowing. Is definitely. Not shoveling. Neither is plowing.
If you die "shovelling" (using a snowblower) you already had major health issues and it was just a matter of time.
Unfortunately, yes.

Why govt doesn’t take up the snow removal on public foot paths? That’s dumb.
