Laura, you are so very talented! Painter, TH-cam personality, spokesperson for the Bruderhof, mom, and wife. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I always smile when you have a new video. And your painting didn’t look unfinished at all!
I love your "dark-towards-light" tree painting! And the realistic sharpies and your creative hands and the canvas that stood behind you is very modern-times like. You do a good job, keep it up!
Wow! Your art is so good )) How do you get your art supplies though? They can be quite expensive. Does the community provide them for free for everybody who wants them? If you sell your art, do you have to give the money to the community? How did you get your smartphone? I thought the Bruderhof members aren't allowed to have such things. Thanks for a great channel, it's really interesting =)
gorgeous work. I had made a stupid assumption that the community might not permit any individual artistic talent from being nurtured. You blew away those assumptions!
Hey Laura! I am from Germany, so please excuse my bad english knowledges or my bad spelling. I now saw some of your videos and you are such an inspiring young woman. When I watch your videos I immediately get in a good mood. You are so positive and so it is a joy to follow your channel. And I think you are the best representative for the Bruderhof. I am always interested in people who live in another way. For me the christian way wouldn´t work, but I have respect for people who do this. And your talent for painting is amazing. Sometimes I paint a little bit for myself, but that is nothing compared with your wonderful paintings. You are really a wonderful person with a wonderful soul. Greetings from Germany.
U r very talented! I loved every painting u showed us. I loved your water colour one too. It must b so rewarding as a teacher to know u have made a difference in someone life. U have done that with your paintings and your refugee work.
You are really good at talking about things, and describing, and explaining things, in a way which makes me want to keep listening. I would love to learn more from you. If you were my teacher at school i think i would be much cleverer now!
You are such a good artist! The drawing of your hands, I think you said in high school, is unbelievable! I am a retired elementary school teacher and am taking a beginning online (due to COVID) drawing class at a local Jr. College. It is the MOST challenging class (besides math) I have EVER taken, and I've gone to graduate school! I have drawn some amazing things that I can hardly believe I did, but the hours upon hours and the frustration and difficulty makes me want to quit - but I haven't! I knew it would be challenging but not to this degree. I have always loved art, taught it to my 4th graders, and all subjects, but WOW, a college drawing class is something else! I was a legend in my own mind (while I was teaching). I have such respect and awe for people like you that have such natural talent and skill.
That’s so great, Laura! I loved hearing your story of Vincent Van Gogh’s starry night. That has always held a folklore in my mind as well. Keep up with your painting!
PS - I am also an artist and I just Want to encourage you to create. Art is the only subject, I love to tell my children this, that there is no right answer. 😉
I've just started watching your videos & thoroughly enjoying them. Love your enthusiasm for life & your genuine love of the Lord. Cheers Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨🙏🏻🌞
I enjoyed this video 😊 ☺️!. It's always important for everyone to find a passion or interest that adds joy and comfort to their life! Glad that you found painting to be yours !!!
I think you are a passionate, brilliant, talented charming woman. I enjoy listening to you. I find it very uplifting and relaxing in this challenging time we are all trying to surive. Your Family is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your life.
I think your water color is very good. I like the colors and compositions of your other paintings very much. What a sweet bunch of kids to carry their ailing Art teacher on a hike! 😎
Hi Laura, this is so awesome to see your work. I have been an artist for a very long time! I so much recognize in your enthusiasm! Keep painting what you feel is inside you! 🙏🏽
Nice paintings Laura. Have you ever painted anything for others upon their request. Specifically the “Last Supper”. Would you be willing to take on painting photos of family members as momentos for a family? Thank you 😊
wow! love your technique! I studied art for GCSE and A level in the UK back in the 90's. Rediscovered art in stamping and colouring of images for greeting cards. I wuld love to request a commission of some open water swimming from a photo!
I like your landscape watercolour! Also, your other pieces show that you are a talented artist. I hope you will be able to inspire your own students one day, like Rose did for you. We’re the coloured pencils, Prismacolour brand? ❤️🇨🇦
You are an incredible artist and quite an Inspiration! Thank you so much for your positive Videos! I can imagine, that it is Hard to find the Time! My Sister, my mother and we Had that problem (all working and Not living together anymore) so we decided to Start again we sat together and took Every single letter of the Alphabet, Chose a topic for each letter and then we got together (or skyped) and showed the pictures we had drawn a-Alphabet, b-Berlin(our hometown), c-Chamäleon, d-Dragon, and so on. It was so much Fun and such a Great experience! In the end we Wrote something for Each topic and Made a Book out of it and gave it to my grandmother. It was Great having time to do your own Projekt and then Share the experience and thoughts! Best wishes from Berlin Germany
Wow Laura your art is amazing. You are such a talented artist. I would absolutely buy your work. I love your friendly, warm disposition. So happy to learn about Bruderhof. I'm also a mom who likes to paint... So hard to find the time. Keep doing what your doing xxx 🇮🇪
Hi Laura, I was a woodwork teacher (metalwork and design and technology), but first trained as an art teacher, mostly as a printmaker. I wear jeans usually, and dress modestly. Though when it was a summer day, I did envy the English teachers ability to be able to wear cool, open toed sandals, while I was in my hot grey dust coat and boots. Later, studied Montessori, and learnt the psychology from 0 to adult, with a focus on 3-6 years, and then 6-12 years. I am now a writer, and writing a book about Mars, which is funny really, given that I call myself an Earth based woman. In my book, there is a community of 12 people who live on Delta Klein, Mars, a first colony as a trial experiment. It is a love story about a woman who lives on Earth and has to go there for her one true love. The "staff" have lots of money with no expense spared from their CEO (who lives on Earth). They can wear what they like on the inside of their domed life, grow their own vegetables, and wear space suits while out in the harsh Mars environment. When it comes to "required weekly art making", they are not allowed to do themes about Earth, people (or possibly children and animals), and so they make sculptures with abstract or simple form. The very rich founder thought that if they were allowed to do such work, then this would make them psychologically miss Earth, and this distraction could so be dangerous to how they live. It was thought that the artistic time in the workshop was beneficial for the staff to be able to handle such remote extremes, while they were there. This reasoning, I thought, would make for a quirky tale about relationships in remote and extreme places. I would love to email you about this further, with due respect and learning, as you could assist me with your own knowledge and feelings of isolation, community, and rules that your society follows. Lots of questions, for research purposes on my novel series. I grew up in a neighbourhood where I could climb trees and ride my bike and find interesting adventures, with mum and dad calling my brother and I in before sunset, for a simple dinner. Hope to hear from you, Laura, my email is; elizambday@yahoo.com.au. In kindred spirit, Regards Eliza from Sydney, Australia xx PS I have just found your channel, and you are delightful to listen to and watch. :) My arty question is; in terms of having access to art supplies... QUESTION Do you have access to artist grade rather than student grade materials, and if so does it matter to you? Also my other QUESTION relates to our current C19 crisis; How does your community fair with governing rules about how you may safely be in your society? Has it directly impacted the way in which you live? Thanks again for your channel.
Talented, Creative, happiness... Did you attend public High school and College. I've seen many of your videos and you and your infectious smile are the best P.R. for your community that I could think of. I paint a bit and find your work to be inspiring. You are a beautiful spirit! Thank you for your humanity!
Hey Laura! This brought back some good memories of Roswith, MOMA and our first experiences of great art. Congrats on baby #2, and hope you're doing well!
Just discovering your channel and am a very new subscriber! I love your videos so far and YES, painting is super nice! I also enjoy it, right now particularly with watercolors. Thank you so much for sharing your way of life and being open to all the questions. Also, I love your energy that shines through the screen :) Many blessings from Germany!
i’d never realised just how big your paintings were from the pictures your put in your videos! this made me want to bring out my paints for the first time in months.
Your art is beautiful and dynamic. I play the piano and have two questions related to my hobby: - Is playing and listening to jazz music allowed in your community? - Do some of you go out to concerts or other cultural events like theater plays? I'm german, so I'm sorry for any mistakes. All the best for you and your family.
I LOVE your art!!! Question: how do you buy things for yourself like things you need as a woman 😉 and also clothes or decor for your apartment? I love decor to make our home beautiful and homey.
Hi Julia, I don't want to speak in Laura's place, but I assume that personal hygiene articles are very likely provided by the community. They might be available in their stores just as food items are at no cost. I've heard of a community that makes and sells children's furniture to people outside the community. With the money they make off of it, the community buys clothing items, fabric, and everything else that is not grown or made inside the community.
Hi Laura, I love your videos, and now I came across this one, I absolutely love your paintings. You mention that you sold some of your work, and I wonder if there is a way for me to buy one of your paintings. Thanks, and best wishes.
I love your watercolour painting of the forest! What a shame you decided that medium wasn't for you. However, you must know which type of painting best suits your style. I think you made a delightful picture, which many people would be happy to hang on their wall.
Beautiful work! What a great gift to have! Funny that you look at some pieces and think they look a little unfinished. Thought the artist decides what finished is. Maybe there are parameters that have to be met first? Only took art in elementary school so I surely wouldn't know. Do you do any religious art because of your commitment to Christ?
I have a question please (maybe 2!). In the recent documentary shown in the UK a member explained that he and his family own nothing as everything is communal. Does this apply to your paintings or are they your property to keep and do with as you wish? And if sold can you keep the money yourself or must it go to the organisation?
No artists by trade (except one guy made metal sculptures full-time for a couple years and sold them). But for me I think doing it for living would make it not fun anymore. Too much pressure!
Totally agree...you're SO talented! I think a lot of people would want to purchase your paintings...proceeds could go to community projects or fundraising missions?
I watched over 20 of your videos. Find you genuine. We are not religious but do believe community is important. We also enjoy your morale lessons based on the Bible teachings. I was intrigued about the brewery your husband is working on!!??

QUESTIONS: If you gift a painting to someone in the community do they take that painting from house to house with them when they move? In the community, since no one owns anything personally, do you leave your finished paintings in the house you finished them in or do you take them with you?
How do you buy art supplies without money? Are other community members’ hobbies supported financially like yours is? What would make the finance person say “no” to a request to support a hobby?
Laura, you are so very talented! Painter, TH-cam personality, spokesperson for the Bruderhof, mom, and wife. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I always smile when you have a new video. And your painting didn’t look unfinished at all!
Wow, thank you!
Showing creativity through art is one of the ways we are made in God's Image. What a blessing for yourself and others!
I love your "dark-towards-light" tree painting! And the realistic sharpies and your creative hands and the canvas that stood behind you is very modern-times like. You do a good job, keep it up!
I think the water color is BEAUTIFUL! I would buy it!
Wow! Your art is so good ))
How do you get your art supplies though? They can be quite expensive. Does the community provide them for free for everybody who wants them?

How did you get your smartphone? I thought the Bruderhof members aren't allowed to have such things.
Thanks for a great channel, it's really interesting =)
Oh my goodness, that baby mobile over the crib is absolutely adorable!!!!
Your artwork is fantastic Laura

You are an amazing artist. Love your work 😍
these are really good paintings!! the self portrait is dope
You are a great artist.
I'm so impressed by the educational opportunities/system of your community. I suppose that it helps not being obsessed with pop culture.
wow! love your technique! I studied art for GCSE and A level in the UK back in the 90's. Rediscovered art in stamping and colouring of images for greeting cards.

I happy for you my beauty ❤

Wow I would do anything to be able to draw like that 😄 I’m trying to learn, it’s such a challenge. You are so talented!
Amazing! I could never paint anything like this. And it's so good that you could raise money by selling some of your paintings. :-)
You have some talent!:)Maybe you inspired me to start drawing&painting again.
You should!
You are an amazingly talented young woman.
Absolutely beautiful! !
I was gonna ask if they allow y’all in your community to draw but now this video answers my question
i’d never realised just how big your paintings were from the pictures your put in your videos! this made me want to bring out my paints for the first time in months.
You should! So worth it.
I really like the watercolor painting! Will you do a painting video?
Thanks! That's a good idea!
Your art is beautiful and dynamic.
I play the piano and have two questions related to my hobby:

Wow amazing work !!
Thank you! Cheers!
I went to SUNY New Paltz, would often see the Bruderhof girls on campus. They were always very polite.
Your artwork is amazing.
Lovely channel, keep up the vibe! :) Greetings from Hungary :)
You are super talented
I enjoyed this video very much :-)
Thank you!!
I LOVE your art!!!
Question: how do you buy things for yourself like things you need as a woman 😉 and also clothes or decor for your apartment? I love decor to make our home beautiful and homey.
Chris is actually really good at making things for our house. My clothes...I ask the folks who buy clothes for what I need.
Hi Julia, I don't want to speak in Laura's place, but I assume that personal hygiene articles are very likely provided by the community. They might be available in their stores just as food items are at no cost. I've heard of a community that makes and sells children's furniture to people outside the community. I love your passion for painting! Does the Bruderof accept other forms of art like Dance?
Yes!
Hi Laura, I love your videos, and now I came across this one, I absolutely love your paintings. You mention that you sold some of your work, and I wonder if there is a way for me to buy one of your paintings. Thanks, and best wishes.
Not at the moment unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
Very talented
I love your watercolour painting of the forest! What a shame you decided that medium wasn't for you. However, you must know which type of painting best suits your style. I think you made a delightful picture, which many people would be happy to hang on their wall.
Oh thank you!
I think you should do a series of drawings like the meat cleaver tomatoes.
Love your art work. If you sell a painting, do you contrubute to the community?
Beautiful work! What a great gift to have! Funny that you look at some pieces and think they look a little unfinished. Thought the artist decides what finished is. Anything I earn goes to the community. The way I look at it the things I have/use are mine to take care of but they don't belong to me.
Love listening to you... and now seeing your paintings as well.
You are an awesome artist. Where did you go to College?
Laura, i'd love to hear about your time in college and how that worked
How would your community defend itself as you are against violence? What’s the Bruderhof view on the rapture? Loving your videos
Great questions. I'll answer them in a video soon.
Laura thank you so much!!! God Bless you and your such an inspiration me.
Nice
Thanks
Are there artists, by trade, at the Bruderhof? Would you be supported if you made this your career? Because, you're talented!
Thanks! I do sell pieces from time to time but don’t have anything at the moment.
I watched over 20 of your videos. Find you genuine. We are not religious but do believe community is important. We also enjoy your morale lessons based on the Bible teachings. I was intrigued about the brewery your husband is working on!!??
Video about that coming up next week
I noticed on the video prior to this one you both had rings on her right hands. Is that common in your community when you are engaged? Does that change to your left hands when you are married? Also, Where did both of you live prior to marriage, were you both living with parents?
QUESTIONS: If you gift a painting to someone in the community do they take that painting from house to house with them when they move? In the community, since no one owns anything personally, do you leave your finished paintings in the house you finished them in or do you take them with you?
Laura, can we somehow buy your paintings?
What media do you use?
Mostly acrylic on canvas
I USED TO PAINT ANIMALS ON STONES, BUT NOW IAM LOOSEING MY SIGHT I LOVE METAL DETECTORING AND FISHING
How long have you been painting?
About fourteen years I think!
So how do you pay for your hobbies??
I put in a request for supplies and I mostly get what I ask for lol
Anyone else getting ASMR vibes from her?
yeeees. i've spent hour listening to her and i feel so at peace and calm right now. especially, after this video right here
You always have a candle lit. What does this symbolize
How do you buy art supplies without money? Are other community members’ hobbies supported financially like yours is? What would make the finance person say “no” to a request to support a hobby?
You'd probably get a no if your hobby was insanely expensive
