I've legit had this album on repeat for nearly 8 hours today and I cannot get enough. The growth this woman has shown in 5 years is unreal. By the time she gets to Nobody Gets Me I was already feeling allllll the emotions, but that one WRECKED ME and it just got better and better. She revived something in my soul today. I know it's the end of 2022 but this one really did it for me. This could be my favorite for the year. It won't be leaving my ears for quite some time.
This album is amazing. I don’t think we’re all hearing the same thing because this is exactly what y’all did to Rihanna’s Anti. Y’all slept on it then months and years later realized how amazing it really is. This ain’t supposed to be a quick listen and fall in love. You need to allow yourself to fully digest the album. I give it a few months and y’all will be changing your opinions 😅
I’ve been seeing majority love, I haven’t really seen much dislike come. Everybody literally hated ANTi first listen for some reason. 😭 but I definitely agree with you.
I'm taking 17 out of the 19 new songs into my rotation. Features killed it, SZA switched it up every other song and the production was A1. Even the songs I dislike are just not my style but they sounded great still. In short: She. Can't. MISS!
@@RushtyShpoon F2F and Nobody Gets Me, like I said purely because they aren't my style. They still sound good because of SZA's talent but are the most derivative songs on SOS to me. Sound like hits to me thought like Jon said as well
@@original_shmirko_account yeh F2F has to be someone’s type of thing because I love that style of music too so I adore it but can hear people not liking it. Also nobody gets me might be too country for people

Even as a guy SZA for me is up there in terms of hitting different late night just as much as R&B Drake, Bryson Tiller, etc Good Days is still amazing even tho it's old
yeah this album is a certified banger on all fronts. she's on her lyrical A-game, the mix of genres keeps you interested and keeps a 23 track album from dragging, the features are few but smartly used with perhaps the exception of the Travis feature on Open Arms which sounds like it should've been a Frank Ocean feature. Ghost in the Machine, Low, Blind, F2F, Smoking On My Ex Pack, Used, SOS, and Good Days are the stand-outs for me, but honestly every song hits
This album is so solid, I just know it will stand the test of time. All the best albums are growers in my opinion. I was sold on it after first listen but it just continues to grow on me every single day. It's all I want to listen to and every time I do I find something new I love
i slept on sza for too long. this album is a masterpiece and a journey in itself. very rarely will i listen to an album the full way through multiple times, usually i just pick out my faves & stick with them but this truly deserves all 23 songs being played
Honestly I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ctrl but this album blew me away and touched me in a way I haven’t felt in a while. I don’t love every song but the ones I do are special for me personally and it’s such a great surprise
For me it's the exact opposite CTRL felt so raw and real and I felt like every track was perfect the whole narrative and theme was so beautifully done and well thought out. I think SOS was a rushed mess with alot of disingenuous tracks.. i certainly feel like it's more mainstream but not in a good way like all the emotion and context has been thrown out the window for cheap beats and collabs
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt I can definitely see that. I think she pulls off that mainstream sound better than anyone honestly on SOS which appeals to me heavily. It certainly feels like a hit or miss album depending on the person
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt this makes literally zero sense. there’s three real collabs on the entire album. there’s more on ctrl. she took 5 years to create this album, how was it rushed? there’s an incredible amount of emotion that was even thematic. what cheap beat is there anyways?!
@Blake Cooper the entire album sounds generic and like everything thafs out there right now, SZA went from changing the sound of R&B with CTRL to becoming a trend follower.. sza even said most of the collabs on the album were put together last minute and quickly and that most people had declined to collab with her like Kendrick for example.. SZA herself even said the album wasn't the best she had it done for over 2 years but her label didn't let her release it but now they gave her a deadline and made her remake/change the album drastically wich lead to alot of new unfinished songs.. the last half of the album is literally filled with singles that weren't for the album originally.. how doesn't that scream money hungry? Using singles that don't match the albums sound or themes put there is clearly to get more sales. Every emotional beat on the album feels contrived
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt lmao what song on here follows a trend? F2F bc she went went a grungy sound? Low because it’s trap? and she didn’t say the collabs were last minute, she said ONE was. F2F is so excellent. wasn’t expecting her to be in her avril bag this album but im not mad about it. what’s great about SZA is that she changes it up on every single thing she puts out. CTRL is different than anything she did on her mixtapes, and this is completely different from CTRL - and yet all of it is GOOD and so sincere. i think she probably could’ve left a couple songs off this album (they aren’t bad, but they kinda kill the flow) but otherwise i’m in love. really hope she gets rewarded for her talent.
ive said this under other reviews but there is a parallel between 'Special' and 'Normal Girl' off of CTRL (as far as subject matter) i just don't know if they're supposed to contrast each other or if 'Special' is a continuation.
Honestly, I was worried when I saw 23 tracks but there is so much quality on here. Glad she added Good Days to the album even though it’s quite old. It’s too good to not be on an album haha AB-SOUL this Friday LFG!
