This consider one of the best (acclaimed) by Proton that ever produce. In the year of 1998-2000 saw a lot in our country (Malaysia) as it direct fight with Civic Type-R, nevertheless the Civic Type-R never into our market officially or even used import (rare to get genuine, only handful). Nowadays there are company in Malaysia restored this GTi and sell around MYR 45,000 to 50,000 thousand. The only car that claimed tune by Lotus with Proton owning it last time until Proton main share sold to Geely.
This car is highly desired and sought after over here in Malaysia. Car enthusiasts highly rate this car as it provides a lot of car for not so much money, the rarity of it makes it even more desirable. Finding a stock unit in good condition is not so easy as many of them were modified by racer boys over the years so the real stock cars are few and far in between.
Great vid. Similar position to you. Just picked one up. Ours is running rough in the gears but I think its never had a gear box service and now pushing 105,000 so its well time. Never done one ourselves so will be a learning curve. Be interesting to see how you go with this! Had one brand new 20 odd years ago so going down memory lane with this but they are so worth it when running right. Good luck with it. Will keep watching
Thanks, hoping to have an update within the next few days I’ve got a few jobs on the go with it. Great little cars, I can’t understand why they weren’t more popular! Glad to hear you are saving another one!

Hi, don't sell this car. because this model is not made either in Japan or Malaysia. 🇲🇾
Sell the recaro seats, worth more than the car
