To the people here commenting asking what this has to do with warfare. What does this have to do with warfare? not a damn thing. If youre looking for a video with Marines showing off what they can do in warfare theres plenty of moto vids on youtube with just that kind of thing. This is the Silent Drill team showing off some exhibition style close order drill. Theyre showing off precision and discipline which are two other traits the Marine Corps likes to pride itself on. Theyre used mostly for recruiting purposes and ceremonies, but the shit aint easy, so kudos to them. To the people questioning it it, I ask you all: Who the hell are you to question the way the United States Marine Corps conducts its business?.. Just pay your taxes and be happy theres no draft.. it always amazes me that people who have no experience with the military always have the biggest voices about how to make it better.
arceyominyin from what I see they stating that if a enemy of the US forces us to fight we will kick your ass just as methodical as we do this. In the marines you are not a soldier you are one of the few the proud your are a marine.
and it always brings a tear to my eye to watch my silent drill team.. US Marines.. always the first to land... and the last to leave.. signed..Emmett.. U.S.M.C.
No fluffy hats or unnecessary arm swings, just a tight uniform with a smooth finish. It doesn't matter what these amphibious infantrymen do, they're a lethal force when active in a hostile environment.
And they always look good and that can be hard work starting with Boot Camp. My platoon in Boot Camp always looked good and took 1st place in everything. Plt 1041 San Diego MCRD. Graduated 16 July 1976. Semper Fi and HAPPY NEW YEAR,
As a former U.S. Marine (1977-1981) this makes me so proud to watch. USMC drill teams are so much more impressive than those of any other branch of the military. Not meant to offend anyone. Semper Fi
No offence taken! (Retired Army here) Although I've seen some impressive drills during change of command ceremonies in Germany done by the Army drill teams the USMC has alway impressed me! Hoo Wah
We are all in this together, there are different services and different missions, bottom line is WE ALL provide the blanket of comfort that makes living in America great. Keep up the good work Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard!
I am from the bahamas and i am in law enforcement so i have been on the drill square before so I know about the practice that goes into this... But omg there is no team in the world that can test these guys they are friggin awesome... I salute u marines!!
The Silent Drill Platoon first performed in 1948, originally as a one-time show, and received such an overwhelming response that it soon became part of the routine parades at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C.
I love how they taught the crowd how to respect them. Different crowd at the end than at the beginning. Imagine the respect they'd learn if they saw how they fight to protect their right to have bad manners!
I always love watching the USMC Silent drill, even as a squaddie I can appreciate the precision and movements that go into US Marine drill movements. The one thing this "silent" drill could do without is the typical sporting-event announcer screaming "The precision...the discipline uunnngghhh marines guh guh guh" and the "whoooo" from the girl next to the camera!
As a Brit my total respect for USA and their military - their discipline and precision training is amazing - thank god the most powerful country in the world is also a voice for freedom - - we have so much in common - - - god bless USA -
When I think how blessed I was to have had the honor and privilege to serve as one of The Few, The Proud, The #Marines makes my heart pound in my chest even to this day. SEMPER FIDELIS!
Have people stopped hating on the video recording over the years? Sure hope so. This obviously was an impromptu recording on a cell phone in awkward conditions. I only wish the very end was not cut off, actually. Thanks, and Semper Fi
Thanks to the NBA for Allowing our USMC in the half time period. Thanks for supporting our Arms Forces who fighting around the world against the bad looney ticks ISIS. Also thanks the audience for showing support the our brave USMC. May God Bless tis young MEN.
Just love the snappy "Inspection Arms" routine. The Garand M-1 is a great rifle for this drill. Besides the M-1, we used the 1903 Sprigfield as well (US Army).
As someone who served in the USMC. I first saw the Marine Corps Drill Team in Quantico VA in 95. 400 of them came out and did what they did. Only one of them dropped their rifle but you weren't aware of it until they left the field. It was impressive. My only advice is please, please change up the choreography. This has been the same routine for the last 20 years, maybe even longer.
The very next day. Marines saw a huge elistment boost. I mean that as a total compliment. These marines on this video show it. I was in the Army till 08. And jumped out of planes. And I would trade all that to be the the guys in this video. Thats what sets Army from Marines. Discipline pride and tradition. Much respect usmc
Joe Rooney I thank you for your service in the army. All branches of the military are needed and we should all be proud and thankful for all who serve, regardless of which branch.
Just saw USMC Silent Platoon on 11-16-2014 at the Carolina Panthers Football halftime show and they were great. The Panthers had its home game celebration for Veterans
I have seen the USMC Silent Drill Team at numerous events and live performances especially at 8th and I in Washington D.C. They are impressive to watch.
I saw this in Hamilton, Ontario a few years ago, and without a doubt this display is one of the most impressive demonstrations I have ever witnessed. But in Hamilton it was much better....why you ask? Because the audience didn't talk or whistle or WOO WOO during it. They watched in SILENT awe until it was over, then applauded.
Guys its for show, it's not used in combat so stop being confused individuals. Shyflirt1, it's a waste of taxpayers money? Maybe, but it helps connect the military with the civilian world. You're more of a waste of tax payers dollars honestly.
Only Armed Forces Start and Ends on the Same Foot everytime...This gave Me Goose Bumps🤣😂 We have the Best **** Military in the Whole Country💯 and If anybody wants it They can have it cause We go give it to Em.💯😉😘
this is what it means to be a Marine honor speed of core pride and a brotherhood that lasts a lifetime, anywhere anytime Semper Fidelis,.. always faithful..
did my time in the early 60's. these guys are so damn good. lance corporal n corporals all. did my time on the drill field, learned how to do the marching stuff and 'arms movements', but nothing like these guys. silent, come on. I had a DI yelling in my face. learned to anticipate his commands, but, he had to 'command'. semper fi, these young marines are the best of the best.
Amazing demonstration of discipline. Too bad not a single NBA player came out to watch it in respect of our military service personnel. They could learn a thing or two about how to work together as a unit from these soldiers!
Does anybody else find it disturbing that people in the audience just keep on flapping their gums while these guys perform? Would anyone act that way say, at a Broadway play or with a live singer? Such disrespect...
I completely agree! My husband served for 10 years and I find it highly disrespectful and rude that the women in the background would not be quiet. I am sure that there were others in the crowd that were talking as well, but the "ladies" rudeness just stood out.
From 4:45 to 4:52, i'm jumpin out my chair and screamin. Lol. That was the sickest and cleanest rifle handling i've ever seen. I drill in Armed Standard for my high school, and if i could ever do that, i'm enlisting that day. Lol
Brit here. Can someone explain the significance of silent drill? The discipline of these marines is extremely impressive but I'm stumped as to why it's necessary not to make any noise and not have an instructor call out commands. Almost all other examples of military drills that I've seen have involved a lot of heel stamping and have involved commands of some sort. Thanks in advance!
Have fun I got out 2 years ago, one advice and the best advice. What ever you do you do it to the best of your ability, you will see allot of people quit and slack "because its hard" that will after call them selves Marines but I promise you if you give it 100% ALL the time not only once a week or when its convenient and when the time comes to get out you will know you never gave up and that will make you a different man you will be that top .01% of our society! PROVEN FORMULA I DID IT!
These are acutal active duty Marines. They serve in the Silent Drill Platoon as a regular assignment. Once their tour is finished, many of them will go on to other active duty assignments, including combat where ever they are needed. SEMPER FI!

Yes. They defend against foreign and domestic. Got to let people know they don't mess around because they won't find out .....
💯

step 1) open this video and mute it
step 2) open youtube in another tab and look up " march on the jedi temple"
step 3) execute order 66

This was originally posted several years ago. We found it so motivating that we thought it worthy of another look! Well done, Marines!
Total respect to these young men. Thank you for your service.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
A marine needs to be this comfortable with his/her own rifle.
Woooooowww. They are so amazing to watch. I'm not American, but I salute the USMC. The Few The Proud.

Wow!!! Semper Fi. I was in the Marines in the late 80s to early 90s and never saw the silent drill team. Excellent!! Thanks for posting.
Close order formations USED to be valid combat tactics. But advances in weapons made them obsolete over 200 years ago.
K
It's so cool watching them! There so in sync with each other, there so perfect! Flawless performance!
Awesome!

I have seen the USMC Silent Drill Team at numerous events and live performances especially at 8th and I in Washington D.C. They are impressive to watch.
like my 20th time watching this video and still the best one I've seen on TH-cam.
Had courtside seats for this game! Was pleasantly surprised to find out my Brothers were performing!

When I was in highschool I was on a drill team, we didn't even come close to these guys.

To be in such a group requires the utmost lvl of discipline, skill, and hard work I.M.O
Thank you for serving!!! 🇺🇸 God bless you all
Awesome! Very good job!
Amazing demonstration of discipline. Too bad not a single NBA player came out to watch it in respect of our military service personnel. They could learn a thing or two about how to work together as a unit from these soldiers!
Marines, not soldiers. There is a difference. USMC 1976-1992
Their bearing and precision are impeccable. I hope to be good enough to join one some day.
It takes many hours of practice to be as good as what you just saw in this video.
These men were VERY good.
This is so amazing, your eyes will hadly believe it
and that can never be removed from me because it is a part of my DNA

Lots of practice went into that and its just fantastic
Imagine how much even more badass it would have been to do the flips and catches with the bayonet attached.
God Bless the Marine Corps and the rest of the united states armed forces. This is a great performance, and coming from JROTC, YOU ARE BOSS!!!
Makes you proud to be an American! God Bless!
