Ahhh man ! This one brings back so many memories ! I play the hell out of the demo back then, got it in a magazine called Guide Internet (they were always bundled with cds full of sharewares and freewares). Played the Playstation 1 version some time later and finally played the Full PC version some months after that thanks to one of my ex father-in-law (had the chance to play this, Rage of Mage and Phantasmagoria because of him). Darkstone needs way more love for sure, thanks for this video man ! :)
@@Adanoft it's the definition of hidden gem for me. I know so few people who played it, but it was great to play while we waited for Diablo 2, and the music is just top of the line.
@@aquawalrus Yeah, I remember queuing up late in the evening, long line to the games store to buy D2. Did you play Dungeon Siege 1,2? Fairly similar to Darkstone.
I'm 3 minutes in and I'm already laughing my ass off at "I need a 4 day work week so I can live in the past" followed by the editors new sound effect 🤣 love it man! You are so underrated it's not even funny.
@@not_jon_vendi I love that sound effect... As much as I want to take credit for it it's from that meme where a cat is yelling at a door cam. Always happy when someone shares my sense of humor haha
Nice! I had this game on PS1 as a teen and enjoyed it. Then I bought the PC version as an adult. I played a warrior and gave every single point to strength and nothing else. Totally viable but ridiculous!
i played both diablo and darkstone on my ps1 when they were fairly new games and honestly I always liked darkstone more than diablo, in fact I was expecting a darkstone 2 game instead of a diablo 2 game, but that is just me
I honestly love them both, I played more Diablo for sure just because I played more on my PC than my PS1, but absolutely had a great time with both. I would have loved to see Darkstone get a sequel.
I remember this game, on one of those many games pirated disc. Cut audio and movies made story barely understandable, so i spend most time just playing it as hack and slash game. Wierdly it was fun, but i barely remember it as a game besides that it existed.
@@GregDevStuff that's actually a pretty fair statement to make... It's an entertaining experience but legit the most memorable thing is the theme song. It's fun, but a pretty generic experience. Worth a playthrough once a decade or so.
Main issue with this game is pretty obvious: Diablo is absolutely oozing with atmosphere and this game definitely isn´t. The interface alone is a testemonial to it. I listened to the "legendary" music video (it is available on TH-cam and copyright striking it may seem as if someone was getting sued for sharing the Soundtrack of an ancient commercial failure such as Elite II, Frontier) - and I felt not that much impressed. I think childhood memories clearly overruled your judgement here a little. Diablo Soundtrack again definitely takes the crown. Never heard of Delphin Software? They also developed the legendary FlashBack game, successor to Another World and of course MotoRacer, one of the most fun games in LAN running at 60 FPS with superb GFX back in 1997.
@@xaress there is a companion system, where you have a second character that is AI controlled to help you out. It helps if you're having trouble in the game but I've always preferred the solo experience, I find it gets too easy with a dude helping out.

@@XyNoST I played it on PlayStation originally, didn't see it for year and was stoked when it randomly showed up on my steam page.
the "killing snake" part made laugh way too much lmao
Those damn snakes are a real problem.
Just found your channel through random algo magic. I love retrogaming channels after all. Great work. This game was my first ever action rpg.

I have this for the Ps1 and played it a little bit back in 2003. I’m tempted to pop it back in at this point!!!
