I have just completed my little guy, and to say I had fun would be an understatement. I probably broke every watercolour rule, but boy did I enjoy this!! Thank you Liz.
Love the fact that you show us super new things to try. Saw this paste at a shop recently thought I‘d need acrylics now I know I can try it on a small area! Thanks.
Fascinating video. Thank you for sharing, and also understanding that some of us haven't used some of these materials before. I loved the red eyed tree frogs in Costa Rica.
Absolutely love this. Who would have thought one could use water colour over modeling paste. Thank you Liz for the inspiration. I was about to do a tree frog....but now I'm going to use this technique
Hullo Liz, This is a wonderful example of creating a unique background with an easy pattern, well done! I enjoyed seeing the Toucan and Frog come to life right before our eyes! Thanks!
Great video. Thankyou so much. Such a lovely effect. I've been looking at stencils recently, but they all seemed extremely flimsy. Maybe they weren't acetate. I also have some of the colour sheets/paints. Mine are extremely vivid, but great when travelling, together with a waterbrush & pen/whatever 😊
do you mean wall filler? We don’t call it spackle in the UK. It would need to dry flexible otherwise it will crack off the surface. The only way to find out is to try it!
I have searched for a stencil like this…no luck 😟 Any link I could find it online you could share? I just adore your frog! 🐸 You are an amazing artist! Thanks for teaching us!
@@LizChadertonStudio Thank you Liz, for your kindly quick reply! I have not yet tried modeling paste, but as I see it is also an ingredient for your watercolor ground recipe, I will be getting some soon to experiment with!
Great videos except the one I was watching on experimenting with tissue paper, cling film, plastic bags, ceril packets etc, disappeared when paused and I can't find it again. I think it was the weekly news letter I would like to subscribe to.
I have modelling paste. I have stencils. I have paper and paint. My day is planned. Thank you Liz for your inspiring videos.
glad to keep you out of mischief!
Ooh, that's just the thing I need - playtime! 😊
It's so good!
I love Texture! And your work on Texture is Amazing! So beautiful and interesting!😊🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Thank you! Cheers!
This is so cool, Liz! Can't wait to try it!
have fun!
That is such a cool technique! Thanks for showing it!
my pleasure

you need to know the rules, but then you need to see if you can get away with breaking them! so glad you enjoyed it!
I have a ton of the stuff. I thought it could only be used for acrylic! Mind blown. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Very lovely!
Thank you! 😊
I like this technique. Looks like fun. Will keep it in mind for a mini project. You always make things look easy. Thank you 🙏🏼🎨✨💕
Everything is easy when you can do it!

Thank you so much!
Amasing. I have all supplies, i will try. Thank you!
have fun
You're always coming up with something new and clever!
I saw someone do this in an acrylic mixed media and thought it would work with watercolour ….
Thank you Liz. This was a wonderful video. I so love this technique and the use of textured stencils.
Take care..🤗🌻
thank you so much!
I am going to try this...great effects
Have fun!
Absolutely LOVE these!!!! I can't wait for your Painters Online toucan workshop but this is great to get me started. Thank you!
Thsts a bit different. it will be stencilling with watercolour not paste
@@LizChadertonStudio wonderful, so many techniques to try!
I am so grateful for following you…you amaze me every time❤…thank you for sharing your experience
my pleasure!
Thank you for sharing your technique. I love your work so much!!
You are so welcome!
Beautiful! How do you protect it? Under glass would take away from the textured effect. Would a spray protection work well?
you could mount it on a cradle board and wax it or spray varnish
@@LizChadertonStudio Cold Wax Medium would indeed work. I had not thought of that. Thanks Liz!
Great paintings!
Thank you! Cheers!
Woow thank you so much, hi from Mexico 🇲🇽
hola! You’re welcome 😊 I love Mexico!
Fabulous!
thank you so much 😊
The modeling paste is drying as I re-watch this video for the 2nd time, thank you for the inspiration ❤️
ooh exciting!
WOW! Thank you

I love the colour sheets. Great for the tropics but not for grey British landscapes!
Fabulous thank you.
glad you enjoyed it
What a great idea I will have to go find some modeling paste. I usually work with spackle. Do you think that would work? Thank you.

I got it off Temu if I recall, but I don’t have a link
Where do you get your stencils?
online mostly. I got lots from a Temu, until I started to question the ethics of buying from the site. Also local craft shops.
So you don’t have to watercolor ground on top of the modeling paste, right?
no ground on top. All modelling pastes vary in their absorbency, so try yours out and see if you like it
Great video Liz. Where did you get that particular stencil? thanks
I *think* I got it from Temu a while back
What is the name of this stencil used for the toucan? ❤
I'm sorry, it doesn't have a name. I got it in a pack from Temu
So, one can paint with watercolor directly onto modeling paste, with no need for watercolor ground?
I put it on paper and painted straight over it. depending on your modelling paste you will get different absorption which adds to the effect
@@LizChadertonStudio Thank you Liz, for your kindly quick reply! I have not yet tried modeling paste, but as I see it is also an ingredient for your watercolor ground recipe, I will be getting some soon to experiment with!
Did you use watercolor ground over the modeling paste? I thought I heard you mention it...
I just caught the answer in another comment. Not necessary. Thanks!
no watercolour ground in this case!
Liz, can grounding paste be used in the same way or is it different? Love yr videos!
sorry, I have no idea what grounding paste is. Perhaps we call it something different?
