Julius, very good VLog. I was raised at Puntod side of the Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge in the 70's and 80's. I'm very familiar of the place. There use to be lots of Nipa between Isla Baksan and the Puntod side. We use to fish then mostly "iswil" and "ibis" and even caught some shrimp. There are also lots of Black watersnake though. There were seasons of "hipon" too. I'm replying to your video mainly to help the awareness and preserve the river. We should preserve the remaining Nipahan sa Kauswagan and Bonbon because the mangrove/nipa is the BEST filter for the river. If that is gone, our Cagayan River will really SMELL. I paddled deeper into the Nipahan to see how is the state of the mangrove/nipahan. The mangrove area are supposed to be "No Build Zone" after Sendong. Unfortunately, the local gov't and barangay are not policing the area.

I actually watched your video even before we shoot this episode hehe.. one of my friend and I we're searching in the internet more infos about the area, we stumbled upon your kayak video..... I was amazed of the place and somehow sad because it seems some people cant appreciate it's beauty..... & also the benefits of it. and that's when we decided to create this episode about it.. as a nature lover myself... I would love to spread awareness about these type of places in our beloved city. ...I would love to hear some suggestions from you bout some places like this that I could visit.. Producing videos like you did will help awareness of this Nipa Mangrove. It's even better if someone would help raise this issue of preserving the site to the CDO city council.
