I'm not an expert on this, so can someone explain why #2 was a 14 point shot when it seems he was way outside the circle? Was he actually aiming at this one little circle outside the rings to the left?
Yes he was going for the circle. The circle outside of the killzone is a 14. Technically rules are if the arrow touches or breaks the line to the circle it's a hit. Judging from the video it looks iffy if it was or not but judges scored a hit.
Don't understand why they didn't give that last 14 to Levi, It was pulling the line just not touching it . Which is exactly what the 14 before that was doing ! I mean it was great camera work showing us that it doesn't have to be touching !
The distances vary in the Open Pro class. This class specifically shoots targets that are unknown to the archer, making them calculate on their own what they think the distance is before they shoot.
Wow ! I been shooting for a few years. Self taught. Got a nice range set up behind my house similar to this one they're shooting at , and I make shots like that all the time out to 45 yards. I should start competing.
Crowd=pressure, sponsors=pressure, world class archers standing on each side of you=pressure, Sleep before competition =pressure, mess up your first shot=pressure, you are barley holding first place=pressure.
Jedidiah if you’re standing next to a world class archer , so is he or she. Pressure is almost always self inflicted. I choose not to do that sort of thing to myself.
@@daisy8luke You can be a tyro in many shooting shooting sports, one competitor has 50 competitions under their belt and this is your first one, there's always pressure. Even pro's will feel pressure from a novice, its the nature of the beast....
Do , it don't worry about the pressure , the longer you do it , it will never get easier but it's about controling the nerves and That's where you will find out if you can control it!
I've only shot 2 indoor target shoots I didn't do well but only really had 1 arrow and nerves get the best of me. My other misses where just me not being able to make out the rings shooting a hunting bow with no magnification on my sight and old eyes, this year I'm going to spend about $3,500 on setting up a target bow! And am committed to practicing at least 500 arrows a day !
We all go to different 3D shoots at different clubs. Here in Jersey I really enjoyed Obissquisoit bowmen archery club when they do events. We did the Rampart event there. I think Rampart moves around like a tour... Not sure though. Gets funky. A safari run, traditional targets etc.. They'll have a 3D life size big-foot target and shooting mammoths and dinosaurs at 100+ yards like putt putt for archers. Of course I'm always making the odd choice of bringing my recurve
BIG JON'S HUNTING AND FISHING I’d say it’s all a personal feel or however much free shit you get in sponsors. I mean think about if someone said here’s a free Hoyt carbon rx3 or a free bear of course you pick the rx3. Build quality name and etc is why no one shoots bear bows. I mean pigman just dropped his endorsement with bear. Bear is going to end up in Walmart’s soon
With how slow this sport is and how everyone goes right after each other it really bothers me the announcers can't figure out who shot what and the camera angels Wowza some needs work .. GReat Shooting Boys
It's gotten so much better with Competition Archery covering these events and the camera work is 💯 PERCENT better than it was even just a year ago! Really want to give this a go even at a local level. But not sure if I would use a target bow for 3D shooting, I'm a fairly open minded person I think , but just don't see how a target bow, For 3D targets would improve my shooting skills in the field. I'd definitely watch if they added equipment used for hunting, in these shoot downs . I know it will never happen but would be very interesting to me!!
@@gigizack because when you look at their bows you have sights, anchor points, stabilizers, arrow rests, using a release and inside the sights they have a level. dude if you had a compound bow that was all set up it wouldn't take you long to get Robin Hoods. see how these guys are getting damn near or very tight groups. if you handed them a recurve, one with no arrow rest. they couldn't get these tight of groups. this is the easiest form of archery there is. if you want a challenge buy a recurve.

Kenny is an awesome man!!
Praise The Lord
10:51 maybe I don’t understand the rules but can someone explain how that’s a 14 when it isn’t even touching the line of the circle?
It is touching the line
Levy's arrow on round 4 (10:50) was definitely not touching the 14!

Yes, it most definitely was touching that big ass line
What a shoot down. And such great camaraderie such a professional bunch of guys!!!

They make the 14 a risk shot because if u miss u will hit the 8 , where if u are aiming for 12 and miss u will usually hit the 10

@@CompetitionArcheryMedia Ahh , good reply thank you. Would be nice for the commentary to give viewers approximates)
Realistically it's only the first arrow that's unknown, after that you can just count the lines of tape on the floor

Are the men issued a hat upon check-in
What brand are them targets. Are the able to range it before at all??
Usually they are morrel I think
They are all McKenzie targets....and in this division, they are not allowed to range the targets. They must judge the distance themselves.
Thank you. How do you get into something like this?
Just go to an asa event with ur archery equipment and sign up and shoot

He said he set his sight wrong.
I think he shot high over the 14
