I knew right away because it’s a drill it will be counter clockwise.. but you do have to go threw a few things to learn thanks for the video I’ve been threw things like this for 30 years but yes most chucks or things that spin like fans will have reverse threads 😊
Tha ks for the great tips. I recon you saved me from having an Airborne drill flying out the door. Could do the job on 5 minutes with no broken toolsor lost tempers. And the wife is happy!
Thank you so much for posting this. Its the only Video i found about the Milwaukee Chuck replacement. The Torx 40 comment was exactly what i needed. my screw was so filthy i couldnt recognize that.
This was painful to watch! He says "I don't know what to do from here" uh...you should have done your homework and found out it is reverse thread! It would have saved you all those broken bits.
i have same thing with a 3/4" version m12 hammer drill driver, bought i just a year ago. Used perhaps 3-4 times. Sometimes it rattles when i try to loosen it when it have not tightened it enough. Kind a weird after hardly any usage. Honder what ive been doing worng to get parts in there sort of grinded off. I it by drill power first bit, then tighten it by hand
Weird thing is the manual even states it. But it did not do this when i just got it and after first couple of uses "A ratcheting sound may be heard when the chuck is opened or closed. This noise is part of the locking feature, and does not indicate a problem with the chuck’s operation."
That's disappointing. They usually make a really quality product. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. If anything the bit would just spin. If it is under 5 years old, there's a no receipt required warranty.
@@kevinon4wheels Well the thing is, i dont have any issues with the bits. Perhaps i got loose one time, but that was when i tried to drill concrete and did not tighten it down enough. I think i pass by that shop and ask them. See what they think of it. Thank for the reply!
@@kevinon4wheels PS kinda weird they dont state in their manual about that counterclock screw. I already had find this and tried if this perhaps solved anything, it doesnt change anythong for me. I was also thinking because the manually actualyl states it can make a ratcheting sound it perhaps is normal. It seems to be a ratcheting lock mechanis after i did lots of research on these things. I do wonder why it did not do that in the beginning. so i guess a visite to the shop will get people to look at it which have experience
so basically what I learned here is - i'll try the breaker bar... And the drill can take a lot more abuse than I thought it could. So I guess that's good... Why that screw had to be that tight I will never know. I just don't want to break something or myself getting it off.
@@kevinon4wheels it makes sense that something is needed to counter forward and backward. But still that thing is in like iron. Not even the impact moved it.
My Milwaukee impact driver that came with this set died at the same time. I needed a new trigger. It was more expensive to buy the part than an entire new driver.
Thanks to you. I got my Chuck off in less than two minutes.
I like the way you are. Not to be afraid to admit that you are wrong. Your video teaches a lot of people how to replace the drill chucks.
Thanks!

That was so funny . And reading the comments was even better
I should delete this video so my children don’t see it
I thought to take out or open up the screw inside, u hv to twist clockwise. Reverse way to open
why are you going lefty loosy with the torx screw ? isnt it righty loosy type
the left threaded is opened to the right ;-)
I was going to change mine out today but I don’t have a T40 bit. Got every other size Torx but that one lol 😂
Ha ha. I hope you found one! Most big box auto part stores have free tool rentals
@@kevinon4wheels yea all good I bought a bit at Home Depot
❤ Painful to watch from 3:20 till your own revelation 👍😎✊

I’m not sure but this is where I bought the part. He may be able to get it for you
Definition of insanity right here.

😂😂😂 my daughter confiscated my tools after watching this
Poor drill, fell sorry for it!!! painful
Soldering iron a good option to break the loctite in the chuck screw
Great tip!
Maybe you should watch u tube videos before you show someone how to do it wrong , the screw is left hand thread
TH-cam suspended me for a year because of this video
Did you skip to minute 13 or watch the whole thing?
