About '90 I travelled 140km to Oslo and Beach Club to hear Jonathan. It was sold out so I walked back when I met this guy with a guitar case who asked me the way to Beach Club. He told me he could get me in and I walked with him through the stage entrace. We talked in the interval and I offered him a drink, but he said he did'nt drink on tour. What a great guy, memory for ever.
Jonathan, I really love your music. It remindes me of my grandmother whoms I was living with a period. I listed to your record and was a punk rocker at the same time. I hope you keep up because your music whispering importen. Thank you so much.
Yep, they don't make bands like Tommy and the Jonathans (as certain people I know call them to tease Jojo) any more. Btw, you oughtta check out their "Something About Arnold" video thar I posted way back...
When Tommy said 'Tecate and lime' it brought me IMMEDIATELY back to the first Mexican restaurant I ever ate at, cuz THAT'S what I ordered to wash my meal down with!
@@kathleenray1827 just picturing him in my mind all this time and finally getting to see him, I had that record for over 20 years and never knew what they looked like. I find this and it brought back all those old memories.
I saw Jonathan maybe 3 years ago. A guy in the audience rather rudely, and repeatedly, called out for him to play Roadrunner, a song written in the same period as Pablo Picasso. Finally, Jonathan said (roughly), "Listen, I wrote that song more than 45 years ago. I just can't relate to it anymore. If I did play it, it would not be sincere." Incidentally, that night he was at the top of his game. It was one of the most intimate feeling shows I have ever seen.
@@JMarinelli You can't talk to the dude -- he cracked from too much dancing late at night with vampire girls at the lesbian bar so just let him go into the darkness.

Awesome. I just love Jonathan's sense of community, sense of fun and artistic freedom.

If they could time travel, Jojo would like to meet Jesus or Socrates, while Tommy would like to play drums for Dick Dale. What a great pair they are.

The best interview ever
You should watch my "Jonathan Richman Speaks (NOT!)" interview before you decide that.
When Tommy said 'Tecate and lime' it brought me IMMEDIATELY back to the first Mexican restaurant I ever ate at, cuz THAT'S what I ordered to wash my meal down with!
Yes Tommy, glad to see you in good company
That Luna guy doesn't get Jojo at all. Jonathan IS Rock 'n Roll.
This is the best thing ever!
I think of him when I think of Mister Rogers...
So great!
Cannot believe this is the guy that wrote “Pablo Picasso”, it blows my mind.
I think Jonathan would say he's *not* the same guy that wrote "Pablo Picasso" any more...
Scotia, Why not?

Hey I recognize the visual artist here, they did a music video or two for They Might Be Giants
Where's that version of 'Pablo Picasso' in the background from?
love this, where does this come from?!
My guess is that it's bonus content from the There's Something About Mary DVD - just going off the credits at the very end
What movie? IDK... IMHO
Has Richman ever met or hung out with Marc Sandman from Morphine?
Is John Irish or American I heard another interview where he is talking with a brogue .. Irish English sorta.
Jonathan is from *New* England, but if you type his name and "Irish" into the TH-cam search bar you'll get a treat!
He's Jewish from Massachusetts lol
That sounds like a great line for one of his songs lol@@leahflower9924
Wait, Jonathan Richman's first car wasn't a Plymouth Road Runner circa 1970?!?! My world just fell apart
Weird Dean used to look like a little kid in Gaxlie 500.
It's Tommy Larkins. You forgot the 'S' on his name in the header.

theres something about mary
South Park? 2:55
Yes, There's Something About Mary. Jonathan also appears in another Farrelly Brothers movie, Kingpin.
In my opinion Ric did a pretty terrible job on I'm So Confused
Yes. A bit over-produced.
It's so badly produced that it's... good, kinda? Or maybe an excellent song shines through despite crappy production.
@ldyson22 bless his soul
Doesn't every artist have a work you like least? Funny how that works...
