What a very fascinating man!!!! Full of soul and character. Must also mention, he has that "Good Old American Ingenuity" spirit. People like him made America Great! I like you Mr. Fred Bear. Thank for sharing this wonderful video with us ClassicBowHunts!!! Love Retlaw
Unfortunately Fred left his roots in Michigan and settled his business in Florida. My first deer taken, with a Fred Bear recurve bow, was on a full run through an oak forest in northern Michigan, I dropped the doe with one arrow.
That was awesome! Thank you so much for posting this. It had not dawned on me that Fred Bear was a left handed archer like I am. I shoot in the exact same way as he described on Part 2. Simply awesome, I hope to be an accomplished archer/bowyer as he was. My only regret is never having the chance to meet the man. I hope some day Ayala-Toro Bows and Flutes will be known across the land if even only a fraction of what he accomplished! :)
fred bear, u and me share a love of archery... i will do everything with your words empowering me. we will go places. ive never met you but that sounded just like something i would say. i love you man. happy b day i will make you proud. you fuel my life and are amazing in all ways. we r one. together i will rise...you will rise... i will create a new era. we r one
i wonder how well fred could shoot a modern compound with fingers.. of course trying to find one long enough axle to axle so he would not get finger pinch maybe hard.. when fred was alive i can only imagine the Onita ( i think that was the name.. no cams just strings etc.. names like the eagle, king fisher.. and back then i think the bow fishermen loved them. always wanted to get one to have restored just to see how they shoot since im a stick guy myself. ) was probably the smoothest finger shooter of his time.
Fred Bear did his hunting with heavy bows. He sharpen his arrows and develop his style from shooting/hunting with 65-70 lbs bows. Today people try to copy his way of doing things shooting/hunting with 35-40 lbs bows?
lucky to have had him teach me to shoot. family worked for him many years. great man. funny too. thanks for posting. cool to see.
