7:00 I can confirm Phil's story is 100% true... I went to school with DSP and I was there when it happened.. I remember the whole class eventually fell silent as Phil spoke - the teacher included. All of us were listening, entranced by his thoughts. His wisdom... A few people (again, the teacher included), actually started to tear up... It ended with a rapturous applause and the entire class carrying him out into the hallway cheering. It was beautiful.. Also, something Phil doesn't mention - is that those two girls were the most popular girls at our school. And after his speech they were BEGGING to go to the homecoming dance with him, but he rejected them both - saying something about already having plans -- I think his mother was going to be combing his hair that night. Snort.

my mental health took a violent dip when he was telling that totally cringe, unironic, and def not true highschool story. really made me look at a tree branch differently.
I love when he uses the "won the lottery" bit. You DID WIN the lottery on YT. You did win the lottery AGAIN with the bankruptcy. And you plssed it ALL away.
I like how every story DSP tells us, he's always this godlike figure everyone is in awe of. When he worked for his old company he was this amazing manager that boosted sales even though he wasn't actually a manager, he was playing the part of one and everyone loved him. When he was at best buy he did his job so well they immediately promoted him and gave him specialized training. He wasn't just a fighting games player, he was a former pro and the top ranked American player. Now in school he was always calm under pressure to the point other students would question his amazing fortitude. It's a pretty big giveaway you've never been that well liked, or skilled, when you feel a constant need to brag about how amazing you are and how much others love you.
One story of his was about the time he confronted his old boss after he got fired at a restaurant and he say he punched him infront of everyone Including his parents.Less than 5 mins later when people in chat asked for details he said "what? I never said I hit my old boss"...he completely forgot he mentioned it.

When you boil all Phil's lame excuses down, you're essentially left with "Making the documentary would require time and effort on my part, and although it would be a fair presentation of my story, there is no guarantee I would be well received by the audience". It's pretty wild to consider that he got all the way through the pre-production stage without considering any of these obvious facts. It also suggests that Phil was hoping he could just sit on his ass, let Mike Clum do all the work, then reap the benefits of a puff piece, which is what we all know he wanted from the beginning.
He wants to outlast the detractors. Then he will do some kind of doc to say "you see, Im still here, doing my thing. And where are these detractors, ha?"

IDK how old you are, but I’ll tell you one thing, I definitely did not regret it when I was 28 and had enough equity to sell the house and build what I wanted, where I wanted it. That house has also quadrupled in value since I built it. Not flexing at all, just letting you know that stress will pay off brother.

Phil does not strike me as the sort of person who, even as a teen, would inspire girls to approach him for anything - let alone being impressed at his alleged cool demeanor and stoicism. I HATE that Phil calls himself a "work horse." Phil, I have a friend who's THE HEAD of the journalism department at his college, runs an entertainment news website, runs an independent comic book company, voice acts for independent games, has written seven non-fiction books, uploads two videos to TH-cam every week, goes on podcasts, has his own podcast AND manages to find time to read comics, play video games and spend time with his wife and two kids. THAT'S a work horse.

Phil kind of reminds me of myself when I used to work as a postal clerk. I was doing the bare minimum just to not get fired, I was smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day just to not lose my mind. I absolutely loathed what I was doing, and it was reflected in my interactions and personality!
It's very clear in the way that he talks that he hates streaming and the games he has to play. The way he handles criticism is because it strains him greatly, doing anything more than the bare minimum, i.e. : showing up and turning on the camera.
What saddened me most is how he claims he loves his wife, yet you can clearly see he doesn't even look her way when she's on camera.
I'm sure he enjoyed streaming and making videos at some point. The WWE champions addiction is because he hates what he's doing. If I was Phil I'd just go on a trip for a few days by myself to just clear my head.

I think most of your take is pretty good. One big point you missed, and Phil’s biggest problem is - everywhere he goes, he’s right there. He loathes himself, has since he was a kid (it seems). He was an only child with an overbearing, helicopter mother. He had trouble relating to people to begin with, then he went and secluded himself from the entire world to just make things much worse. He absolutely despises streaming, video games and his audience. You’re right on the money there, he just has other issues which go much deeper.

I think that you are spot on with your analysis of Phil's situation. This is a guy that is so far down the rabbit hole he believes that what is saying is the Gods truth. This is not a complicated situation. As you said I do think that he never intended to do it in the first place but was curios enough to have a look at it. I think the following factors played into this:
1: First and foremost is the money. I suspect that as soon as Phil talked a bit to Mike about the documentary, he realized that he would actually be expected to do a considerable amount of work for this project. We all know how allergic to that concept young Phillip is. For heaven's sake his latest venture to milk the dents is to find a dead stream of 10 year old Kontent, monetize it, take advantage of a "member bomb catastrophe" to charge $2.00 more for the same membership all for the pleasure of having him comment on said content from over a decade ago once a week. I think Phil figured that the work would not be worth the recompense.
2: I think the boi figured out as well that he was not going to totally in charge of the situation. Given the number of trolls coming forward he could not have anything like the ah... what's that word now...ah... oh! the TRUTH tainting the story in any way. And last but not least,
3: The money.

So he kind of told him on himself here. This is like the first time weve heard of the parents in a while in the lore. He knows that this documentary will allow them to speak and maybe even Kat's parents even if they want their Identities protected and just provide quotes. The narrative window would fall apart and we can truly see just how many schemes he was pulling and his parents can say he was always an anti-social kid, possibly even diagnosed with issues which he's scared his detractors will get. Speaking of critique I do like the occasional mirror to read the chat because sometimes little things slip by were somebody calls him out on the current scam hes on.

One thing about Phil is that silent limb means you scared him. He knows who you are and saying you talked to him had him shook.
Phil uses his Audience, as his Therapist. Mean while, He has a wife he could talk to about all this bologna to " vent " But I guess that would actually require spending time with and talking to his wife. Plus, the more he talks about nothing, the more he is able to not play games.

When you deal with DSP you really need to listen to what he's saying. I know the snorting and throat clearing get annoying but this is why this channel does such a good job of breaking down what Phil is saying. In the first few sentences Phil really doesn't say anything at all. Phil is very good at admitting what he cant deny and denying what he cant admit. So for example he admitted on the side scrollers podcast that he played WWE Champions and that he had spent money on it however now he wants you to believe that is BEYOND THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY that he still does it. Why is it so absurd to think that someone who has done something as innocuous as this wouldn't go back and do the same thing again?
I know we sometimes refer to Phil being a narcissist but it really is worth looking up documentaries on the subject to educate yourself so you understand the type of person that you are dealing with. Phil is a manipulator. He knows he has no redeemable qualities. Yet he will continuously paint himself in a good light because he truly sees himself that way. Even someone in his chat noticed and said "And then everyone clapped". People like Phil needs an enemy if they don't have one that means THEY are the problem and people like Phil dont like that.
Yes Phil has admitted things but he will only admit things to make himself look like a victim, or when it DIRECTLY benefits him. Why do you think he is so eager to stop people going to detractor channels? Because he doesnt want you thinking for yourself. Phil knows that anyone with an IQ higher than 26 is going to eventually figure out that he's full of shit but he wants those who arent as intelligent as him to stay that way.
