    I have a 2017 Prius base model with 230,000 miles. I’m the first owner and mainly that’s highway miles from years of commute to work. The car has been fantastic and I only placed the 12 volt battery once and spark plugs. It’s been paid off and I’m considering the new Prius once mine poops out.

    The manufacturers should have these factory installed and pickup a small profit which I will gladly pay. It will save me the hassle.

    I think they should do this at the factory. They protect everything else under the car.

    Great video clip. Thanks. I watched this one before my installation. I use ramp over the jack which is used in this video.

    Thank you for your video. Very helpful. I am about to install a cat shield for my 2023 Prius.
    Quick question: Do I need to use floor jack and jack stand to lift the car up to do the installation? Sorry for this silly question as I have never jacked a car before.

      I did use a jack and jack stands because that's what I had available to me. You could potentially also use those plastic or metal ramps that you drive up on. Just keep in mind that the front bumper is pretty low, so you may need a ramp that is a lower angle and not as steep. Best of luck!

      @@ThePriusDad Thank you so much for your reply. I am ordering a floor jack and 2 jack stands to install the cat shield. Really excited and also nervous too because this will be my first time jacking up a car.

    How does this prevent them from stealing it? Wouldn't they just unscrew/bolt it?

    • @ThePriusDad
      @ThePriusDad  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It helps prevent theft. Most thefts happen with a saw, they cut the exhaust on both sides of the cat and take it (usually less than 60 seconds). With a CatShield, it's a deterrent and makes it harder to easily access the area so they can't easily cut it out

    I plan to purchase and install the Miller Catshield on my 2024 Prius LTD, how long did it take to install your Catshield?

      It actually look longer to get the car up in the air, than it did to install it. In total, making this video and all, I was on my back for about 15-20 minutes, maybe about 30 minutes total after after getting up a few times to hunt for tools in the garage. Super easy, only 8 bolts to install, literally just bolts in. Beats having to pay (what I was quoted for when I called around) $200-$400 at a shop.

    Will this work with the Prius prime 2023 ?

    • @ThePriusDad
      @ThePriusDad  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It should work if it's a Gen5. If you click on my link to the CatShield website and enter in your cars year, model, and trim, and drivetrain, it will populate the options available for your prime version in aluminum and stainless steel. Compare it to the style and shape in the video.
      My understanding is that it doesnt matter whether it prime or non-prime, or the fwd or awd, it is the same for all of the Gen5. But im not 100% certain of it because i dont have a prime.

    The shield only cost $135.00 ?

    • @ThePriusDad

      I decided to choose the stainless steel option, which was a little bit more expensive than the aluminum shield. It cost me $200.
