Dil se became what i became because of Manisha's spiritual yet rebellion nature. she portrayed how a girl who started loving tries to overcome her feelings all along the film.
She was majestic ❤
Despite Manisha being not so serious about her role in the movie she did a brilliant job.
That this lady is saying. Till date people remember Manisha for that role. Hollywood reporter dedicated an entire paragraph talking about her performance here this lady is speaking crap
That’s what Mita thinks.We all know Manisha gave a splendid performance in Dil Se.And Manisha’s physicality was still convincing enough for the role she played….Manisha might not have had gym body back then but Manisha was not slacking.We don’t even know if Mani Ratnam asked Manisha to rock a gym body..…Mani Ratnam wouldn’t have casted Manisha again after Bombay if she was unprofessional…Manisha gave an out of the world performance in Dil Se. So nuanced and very moving…Manisha just became the character….we see her as Meghna/Moina not as Manisha…we see her vulnerability and trauma…years of sadness written on her face suiting the character…The fact is that even if Manisha had a gym body or not,she would have still overshadowed Mita.Manisha’s screen presence is stronger and she overshadowed everyone in Dil Se with her performance..She sounds a bit salty and I can understand Mita’s disappointment but it’s not Manisha’s fault..She didn’t need to go all on Manisha when it’s obvious that Manisha wasn’t slacking off either…Manisha gave an all time great performance…a performance relevant for the ages…And Manisha gave the smallest/ most accurate of expressions…she even got the Assam dialect right for those few Assamese dialogues…Manisha wasn’t afraid to look ugly either…She just naturally happens to look ethereal which isn’t her fault …Mita is being dismissive of Manisha’s actually acting skills which were aplenty too.I don’t think Manisha was just focusing on her looks.If she was,she she couldn’t have given such a raw,authentic and emotional performance.She ate the role like anything.Even Manisha herself doesn’t think of her as some beauty even though she is…So yeah that’s my opinion
She is such a fine actress...... I saw a 90s show recently and it was quite popular back then... And Mita ji was part of few episodes...She portrayed the role of an English teacher in that show....and I was blown away by her performance...
In that movie Manisha Koirala is playing an preety girl role, because of that the hero falls in love with her . Why people make simple thing complicated.

If director wants Manisha to have such body he might have asked her...it was his vision. So Mitaji should not blame Manisha...but still it is her opinion and when it comes to opinions everyone is right in his/her perspective.

NSD people weren't taken seriously during those days...stardom was more important than acting....Manisha is a wonderful actor but her range is limited to only heroine- heroine per say because of her beautiful face and people like Mita Vaishisht are relatable characters who would fit into anything but never enjoy attention... . Barring few stars are humble only in intetviews.

Manisha definitely had a beautiful face and over the time her acting became better but at the beginning Manisha was a average actress or little over acting in some movies , she’s not versatile either , she got lucky with some good movies with good script and songs at the start of her career which helped her big time , compare to mita who was already had won some reputable awards I believe, Mita acting skills were great like her body but her face was average Indian women .
Everyone knew how manisha was threaten by her where Mitas costumes being changed or scenes got chopped because she was over powering manisha screen presence ,Mitas body was much more toned where as manisha was still considered heavy and wasn’t very comfortable with some scenes and clothes , there was a rumor that a lot of Mitas wardrobe was changed because of Manisha where Mita had much revealing clothes based of her character but that made manisha very insecure .

Mita ji you couldn't catch that subtext of the soul of script that what I found you are terrorists but that charm and devotion of that boy ( sharukh Khan) little bit pemper your inner femail that's why mani ji told you fight like sexual intimacy between two body, somewhere it was not worked out as a whole that's why it would haven't part of film. Even when I have watched this movie I was a teen age and I could relate after all you are also lady and you are feeling that warmth that's why you are not directly opposing whatever happened between two that's the beauty of that script and character layer.
