I never heard the original version of this song which you said was by a female and I was definitely hesitant to listen to it since Dan absolutely KILLED it (as usual!!). I've yet to hear any cover song that Dan doesn't do BETTER than the original. And, I was right! There was no comparison with Wishmaster. There's just something about the astounding talent and passion that Dan possesses that grabs you and pulls you in (and yes: the dirty looks! lol). Never listened to metal growing up - always preferred ballads and soft rock - but now? A day doesn't go by that I don't listen to at least one of his songs. I know I'm terribly late getting in for this one, but I'm finally here! As I'm listening to you talking about the website and the header, "Where Music Becomes Emotion." You made me cry again, Carlo. Music is SO much a part of my own physicality...in other words, music cannot be separated from who I am. Period. One of the things I have loved about Dan's musicality from the very first listen ("Amazing Grace"), is how he offers respects to every little bit and piece of the music. In this one (and so many others), when he is "counting" (which is part of what is built into me in music...I MUST HAVE RHYTHM), is that he is ALWAYS respectful of the intervals, even when those intervals are a small space of silence, and even when you can see that he would LOVE to just be able to jump back into the next vocals. Instead, never ahead of or behind the beat, he ALWAYS waits respectfully and ACCURATELY, for the guitar riffs, the piano solos, the extra-special drum intervals, etc., etc., etc., and NEVER downgrades them...only BUILDS WITH THEM! Once he's gathered and absorbed THEIR power, and as you've mentioned SO many times (thank you), has grabbed onto and internalized "the dirt," and has begun to not only portray, but EXUDE the resulting power, WE GET THE BENEFIT of that patience and STYLE. I can truly say I've NEVER watched and/or listened to ANYONE other than Dan who pays that much attention to the ENTIRETY of a song, and then turns around and offers himself as the reward. As with you, I have the VERY HIGHEST RESPECT for Dan, and what he does. Go, VIKING, and Go, DAN! Many Thanks, Sir Goes-Back-A-Lot! 😀 PS...I just got another gift. Last night and tonight, here in the far NE of South Dakota, US, we have had some very FANTASTIC Northern Lights display. I got called out there to see what was going on, as our in-house photographers (which includes 9-year-old Wesley) took more pictures and watched at least one satellite pass through the skies at the same time, as well. Those lights always make me cry, too, when I recall lying on our roofs, back in Valdez, Alaska, from ages 2-26, watching the lights dance, cry, and sing -- telling stories that can only be FELT. WOW! What a night, so far, NOT TO MENTION THAT DAN'S SUBS, AT THIS VERY MOMENT, ARE AT 999,550 (12:00 AM on the dot, on 05/12/2024). Lydelith, Laura, and I have been in agreement for sometime on 05/13. He thought I had just given up right at that point, and gone ahead to bed, SO HE DIDN'T WAKE ME UP! He thought I had gone to sleep AFTER seeing the number, so he didn't wake me up. It was about two hours later, that I found out from @Laurgal5...and it had already changed to 1,000,030 by the time I saw it for myself. I'm so happy for him! 😀

Btw...BroScience live was great & I was glad to see you finally able to catch Dan on a live, Viking. Every time they'd read one of your comments, I'd picture you with a smile plastered across your face at finally getting through to Dan. Also,that retrogaming part at the outro of this song was spot on, especially when he's playing Mario, which seems to bring out the worst frustration in him. (I sucked at Mario....Centipede was my game.) On Dan's gaming channel, there's a short compilation called "Calm and Collected" that is super funny. Played it for my son recently and had him laughing because he's the same way when gaming.

When he started singing the first operatic part it sounded as if Dan found a new resonance chamber, (somewhere between throat and the inner side of his nose, perhaps? 😯🤔) I had never seen such a facial expression before. I never really cared all that much for Nightwish, but ever since hearing Dan's many covers of their songs, I like them... the songs anyway. I went back and tried to listen to Nightwish and got 2 songs in before giving up. I don't know if it's the female lead (which normally I have no problem with - enjoy Stevie Nicks (solo and with Fleetwood Mac), Unleash the Archers, In This Moment, and many other bands with lead female singers) or if it's some other aspect. Eh! Whatever it is... Great reaction!

The subs are standing at...999,614. The pace, overnight, was running about 20 subs per hour. Now, though, it's Sunday morning early, and the pace has fallen to about 15 subs per hour. By late afternoon, though, that will probably pick up a bit, and I'm still thinking that at some point not too long after midnight (and I'm talking Central Daylight Time), we're going to see that 1M mark suddenly bounce up on the screen. 😀

He definitely did an awesome job on this one. Nightwish was another group Dan's covers introduced me to, and Sleeping Sun was the 1st cover I heard by Dan. It's still a favorite of mine & my sister picked up on parts where I kept trying to figure out who his voice reminded me of. She noticed similarities at certain higher & lower key parts where he sounded like Geoff Tate of Queensryche. I made comments on the video & elsewhere about possibly considering a Queensryche song and one reaction channel made similar observations. Apparently, there have been others requesting Dan to look into it &, when he was asked on a live stream about that possibility, Dan did acknowledge he'd seen the requests and was studying Geoff's voice for a future song. I think "Jet City Woman" or "Hold onto the Flame" would be good options. Another Nightwish cover of Dan's that I loved was "Last Ride of the Day".

Without the marking over the E, I know that throws people off in how to pronounce it, but I didn't like the look of it aesthetically. Plus, I've already trademarked it, so I'm not changing it. Haha 🙂

I know I'm terribly late getting in for this one, but I'm finally here! As I'm listening to you talking about the website and the header, "Where Music Becomes Emotion." You made me cry again, Carlo. Music is SO much a part of my own physicality...in other words, music cannot be separated from who I am. Period.
One of the things I have loved about Dan's musicality from the very first listen ("Amazing Grace"), is how he offers respects to every little bit and piece of the music. In this one (and so many others), when he is "counting" (which is part of what is built into me in music...I MUST HAVE RHYTHM), is that he is ALWAYS respectful of the intervals, even when those intervals are a small space of silence, and even when you can see that he would LOVE to just be able to jump back into the next vocals. Instead, never ahead of or behind the beat, he ALWAYS waits respectfully and ACCURATELY, for the guitar riffs, the piano solos, the extra-special drum intervals, etc., etc., etc., and NEVER downgrades them...only BUILDS WITH THEM! Once he's gathered and absorbed THEIR power, and as you've mentioned SO many times (thank you), has grabbed onto and internalized "the dirt," and has begun to not only portray, but EXUDE the resulting power, WE GET THE BENEFIT of that patience and STYLE.
I can truly say I've NEVER watched and/or listened to ANYONE other than Dan who pays that much attention to the ENTIRETY of a song, and then turns around and offers himself as the reward.
As with you, I have the VERY HIGHEST RESPECT for Dan, and what he does. Go, VIKING, and Go, DAN!

PS...I just got another gift. Last night and tonight, here in the far NE of South Dakota, US, we have had some very FANTASTIC Northern Lights display. I got called out there to see what was going on, as our in-house photographers (which includes 9-year-old Wesley) took more pictures and watched at least one satellite pass through the skies at the same time, as well. Those lights always make me cry, too, when I recall lying on our roofs, back in Valdez, Alaska, from ages 2-26, watching the lights dance, cry, and sing -- telling stories that can only be FELT.
WOW! What a night, so far, NOT TO MENTION THAT DAN'S SUBS, AT THIS VERY MOMENT, ARE AT 999,550 (12:00 AM on the dot, on 05/12/2024). Lydelith, Laura, and I have been in agreement for sometime on 05/13. I WISH it would happen TODAY, instead, but...hey...nothing like being spot on, on the guessing game, right?! 😀

He thought I had just given up right at that point, and gone ahead to bed, SO HE DIDN'T WAKE ME UP! It was at nearly 4:30 PM CDT, that I DID wake up and got a message from our @Laurgal5, with the great news! THANK YOU, PUBLICLY, Laura! 😀

He thought I had gone to sleep AFTER seeing the number, so he didn't wake me up. It was about two hours later, that I found out from @Laurgal5...and it had already changed to 1,000,030 by the time I saw it for myself. I'm so happy for him! 😀

Also,that retrogaming part at the outro of this song was spot on, especially when he's playing Mario, which seems to bring out the worst frustration in him. (I sucked at Mario....Centipede was my game.) On Dan's gaming channel, there's a short compilation called "Calm and Collected" that is super funny. Played it for my son recently and had him laughing because he's the same way when gaming.

I love Dan’s Nightwish covers. When he started singing the first operatic part it sounded as if Dan found a new resonance chamber, (somewhere between throat and the inner side of his nose, perhaps? 😯🤔) I had never seen such a facial expression before. But I’m not surprised. It just shows the dedication to his work that he develops new and special bones for every cover. That’s our Dan. 🤩

I never really cared all that much for Nightwish, but ever since hearing Dan's many covers of their songs, I like them... the songs anyway. I went back and tried to listen to Nightwish and got 2 songs in before giving up. I don't know if it's the female lead (which normally I have no problem with - enjoy Stevie Nicks (solo and with Fleetwood Mac), Unleash the Archers, In This Moment, and many other bands with lead female singers) or if it's some other aspect. Eh! Whatever it is... Great reaction!

Nightwish was another group Dan's covers introduced me to, and Sleeping Sun was the 1st cover I heard by Dan. It's still a favorite of mine & my sister picked up on parts where I kept trying to figure out who his voice reminded me of. She noticed similarities at certain higher & lower key parts where he sounded like Geoff Tate of Queensryche. I made comments on the video & elsewhere about possibly considering a Queensryche song and one reaction channel made similar observations. Apparently, there have been others requesting Dan to look into it &, when he was asked on a live stream about that possibility, Dan did acknowledge he'd seen the requests and was studying Geoff's voice for a future song. I think "Jet City Woman" or "Hold onto the Flame" would be good options.
Another Nightwish cover of Dan's that I loved was "Last Ride of the Day".
