@@Adagio_Dazzle-f3v yeah, it actually make sense imo, and on top of that Neytiri doesn't care and even told Jake if i'm not wrong that Spider don't belong with them in the beginning of the movie.
Tbh she lost so many people in the two movies, first her sister, then her father and some of her people, and we got to see her son died. I wonder who’s next… if something like this happens again, i don’t think her heart can take it anymore :((
She also lost her home. :( her rage is understandable, like you said, first she lost her home sister and father to humans, then lost her home again because of humans, her two daughters were caputured because of humans and her son was killed because of humans
you can tell motherhood really influenced zoe’s performance in the sequel. i’m not sure she would have sold as much without her babies irl. she was badass
In most movies i don't belive in those "if you dont do this i'll kill this person" scenes but Neytiri was 100% serious about killing Spider and not only me as the audience belived her, but also the bad guy which is rare.
Tbh, Neytiri knows that Spider is Quaritch’s biological son. She was just playing with his feelings because he knows his clone version isn’t technically himself, but since his human self never really had much time for him, he started to care more for him
It’s interesting to look at her character with the 5 stages of grief. Although I think revenge a part of stage 2: anger. Her at the end smiling when seeing Neteyam in Eywa is certainly acceptance.
I do think revenge should be 4/6, so in between depression and acceptance. Some don’t need revenge, others do. Either way revenge is indeed a way of outing your anger imo (:
She was absolutely savage. This film really depicted her warrior skill well alongside the sacrificial and emotional turmoil of her character. You can tell she feels so deeply for her family to the extent that she's willing to have Spider killed for her own. It says a lot about the Na'vi sense of unity and devotion to their tribe and family, especially when faced with a threat from outsiders.
I was disappointed that they somewhat sidelined her character for the majority of the movie, but holy shit did they give her her place in the story! I think she was responsible for about twice as many human deaths as Jake was. She went full animal, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Any human mother defending her children can go full animal, but they don’t exactly have the training of Neytiri. She was of force of nature in the climax. I was somewhat disappointed that the story sidelined her as the “bitch wife” but damn, did they give her something awesome to do at the end! She’s always been the highlight of the movies for me. Hoping for more screen time in the next one. But her rampage at the end was brutal. She went from nurturing mother just trying to keep her family together, to rabid honey badger energy out for revenge and I was so there for it. The way she screams in that guys face… James Cameron made her beautiful on purpose. That animal energy combined with her natural beauty was just breathtaking to behold.
The first time I got scared of her when she went on rampage after her firstborn child’s death. I still can’t accept it it’s too early and Neteyam although he’s the older brother he’s still so young.
I'm sad we will not see more from Neteyam. I really liked him and I wished we had the chance to see more of him. But he needed to be a plot device to show us something, we wouldn't see without his passing. The way Neytiri killed her way through people was so powerful but also sad to watch. Especially when she realised her fathers bow broke...Also I think/ I hope Spider and Neytiri will have an beautiful story arc. Without Neteyams sacrifice for the plot, Neytiri would never change her views towards Spider.
I read once some comics in which Neytiri was still a child and at the time she was really joyful and curious about humans when she went to Grace Augustine's School. Then, these same people started to take everything from her. Her major sister, Sylwanin, was killed by them in the same school she loved learning so much, and this was only the beginning: Sky People destroyed her home Sky People brought disgrace and death to her clan Sky People made her clan homeless Sky People took away her father Sky People took away her Banshee, Seze Sky People almost took away her mate, Jake Sky People burnt down her precious forest She was forced to leave her clan in which she was basically the princess, and became a refugee to protect her family, all of this because of them And most important, Sky People took away her first son, Neteyam, despite everything she did to keep her family safe. No wonder she now hates them so much and became so ruthless, and cannot even accept Spider who grew up with her children, because not only he is part of the Sky People, but he is also the son of the human responsible for all her pain, what an irony! We will see in the next movies how things will turn out between them.
No wonder why I was scared of the Blu-Ray or DVD cover when I was younger. I didn’t even need to watch the movie (until a couple of years later) to know that Neytiri is a force to be reckoned with.
neytiri grew up in an environment with alot of love and kinship all over. then to go through so much loss and heartache, seeing so much devastation and death. i wouldnt be surprised if in the third one they show her having alot of ptsd.
Neytiri’s rage is explainable. She lost her father. Her son. Her tribe. Lost hometree. She’s angry at the “aliens” for taking all that from her. And then when he died coarch had Kiri and Tuk. And he died saving Lo’ak.
Shes a warrior woman for sure...and a loving mother. As the saying goes, dont mess with mama bear! Mother bears in real life will kill to protect their children, their cubs.
0:40 Neytiri's face says she is hurt and that she's bluffing (her jaw shows her anger, but her eyes are hurt and where her eyebrows would be is furrowed, like she is actually sad) She might've hurt Spider but I don't think she can kill him no matter how angry she might be.
Some ppl rly didn't like this scene, and I somewhat understand y - the vicious murder and threatening another child... BUT, those people clearly don't understand a mother's rage, and their desires during such - they'd just killed her son! And were holding her other children hostage, relentlessly coming after her husband, not to mention all the other negative experiences Neytiri had with humans in her past; losing her father, her sister, her home... Neytiri was just able to execute these desires and did all/the only thing she could to save her kids, while boiling with rage and pain, which fuels merciless vengeance. The whole ordeal was 'brushed off' presumably because everyone knew this, and that she was already heartbroken from losing her son that day. It may be addressed in future sequels, but if it isn't, it's not 'bad writing' - it's consideration for the circumstances. I do however think that this event will have impact, not necessarily in the way that many people think... but we'll have to wait (ugh XD) and see! Regardless, a climactic and powerful scene by a very talented and brilliant actress!
Don't know if Spider relationship with Netiri will recover He needs to get an avatar body of his own get on with his life on Pandora away from her and Quarirch
