You say the good book shows how Gods love is unconditional yet if you don't give yourself over to god and Jesus then you will be damned. If you are not repentant you are damned. With this in mind please help me understand how Gods love is unconditional when there are clearly conditions to his love as you have stated here. Thanks.

God's love is indeed unconditional. He loves us regardless of who we are or what we have done. The Bible shows us that God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us, even while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). This is the greatest act of unconditional love.
However, our relationship with God and the salvation He offers involve our response to His love. God gives us the freedom of choice. He does not force us to love Him or follow Him. Condemnation is not a condition of God's love but a consequence of rejecting the offer of salvation that He gives us through Jesus.
It's like someone drowning and God throwing a life buoy. The act of throwing the buoy is unconditional-He offers salvation to everyone. However, the person needs to grab the buoy to be saved. Not grabbing the buoy does not mean that God stopped loving that person, but rather that they chose not to accept the offered salvation.
Repentance and surrendering to God are steps that demonstrate our acceptance of this love and our willingness to live according to His purposes. They are not conditions for God to love us but our response to the love and salvation He offers.

You have to commit. Faith without action is dead.
