This looks like fun and a fascinating mix of cars. Where do they get all those old Fiats? Here in the UK the tinworm got'em decades ago. And are some of those beetles running in-line fours? Oooh, Hillman imps. Never see those here. And was that an Austin A40?
Fiats are old road traffic cars. Old cabins that have been standing for a long time are built into racing cars. And yes, the beetles has straight four engines. Fiats also use beetles gearboxes and rear-engined cars have a limited displacement of 1.6l. Mostly Fiat tc or vw golf engines.
@@731jne Thanks! Straight four into a VW is a lot of work, but the Fiat 1.6 twin cam was a fast and robust engine. Not common here in the UK any more. There used to be a lot of Fiats like those over here, but they were famous for rusting away. We salt our roads in winter and those old fiats just rotted away.
Here's a video about building one car. The rules of the sport include that the car must be sold after the race for 2000e if someone wants to buy it. It tries to keep costs low

In Finland, salt is also used. Most of these cars have the entire floor redone and much more
