One more comment. Last one, I promise. I just want to share some information about an incident on a talent show in the USA that’ll help you understand a little bit more about Dimash’s character. In 2019, Dimash appeared on “The World’s Best”, a talent show featuring international performers produced by CBS, here in the US. It is my understanding that Dimash did not agree with the idea of competing against children, and there apparently had been some misunderstanding. The last time he performed for the judges and experts, he told them he appreciated the opportunity and that it had been a great honor, however he felt compelled to bow out to give the children a chance to progress. Imagine, no 12 year old was going to out-sing Dimash! With a sharp intake of breath, one of the experts there said softly, “He’s going to sacrifice himself.” You see, he would have won the prize of $1 million dollars. Thanks to honorable Dimash, one of the 12 year olds won the prize. Rupaul talked to Dimash is such a rude horrible way, it embarrassed me to be an American. That’s one of the reasons we dears love Dimash!

American entertainment industry is not for Dimash anyway. You have to be a puppet to be someone in US musical industry. It’s very wild for Dimash. They can make u a star in a night and when they want they can switch u off in a night as well. Plus that “ Cheap show” lied to him about competitors..
I watched it as well and was VERY embarrassed the way DIMASH was spoken too….what an honourable thing to do and he was put down for that! 😢

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that.
The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them.
As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable.
Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range.
Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

The man playing the piano is a famous Russian composer, Igor Krutoy, who wrote this song for Dimash and he was actually retired, but came back out specifically for Dimash.

From what I’ve read, the Italian producers were thinking they’d need 3 vocalists to sing the theme song. They did an internet search of “best singer in the world” and Dimash was one of the names that popped up. The hired him and soon realized there would be no need for any other vocalist. He could handle all the parts. It is a magnificent song and video. Strangely, it’s an Italian film, but the song is in English. It is sci-fi, and in one of the scenes, you’ll see a character with a steampunk looking mechanical eye. I read the it was our very own, Capt. Kirk, William Shatner. This song will take you on a ride!

I think you haven't seen it all. Dimashes "baby" the official MV, THE STORY OF ONE SKY showcase his thrue talent ever. It's a almost 20 minutes short movie. I think the song that features his widest range is Drunken Concubine, where he does a vocal fry or growl, and also a D7. It is a duet with a Chinese singer male opera singer. . They do a mash up of drunken concubine and diva dance from the 5th Element film.

The instrument you were asking about is called a Kobyz. It's a Kazakh instrument made of 2 equal parts symbolizing sunrise and sunset and the cycle of the sun. The 2 strings symbolize the universe from top to bottom. It makes beautiful sounds I think.

However, when asked about his range in an interview, Dimash shared that people should not focus on his range. It is simply a tool he uses to express the emotions of the song. His intent is to transport his listeners to a fantasy world for a few hours. He is a magical storyteller. Hope you keep going down the rabbit hole.

That was the first time Stranger was performed. It was written by the guy at the piano, Igor Krutoy, just for Dimash. At 4 octaves and 5 semitones, who else could sing it?
That instrument is called a Kobyz. It is a common instrument used in his homeland of Kazakhstan. When Maestro Krutoy was composing this song it was dimash's idea to incorporate that instrument into this performance which made it the Masterpiece that it is

Stranger is a favorite! Try his December 2023 duet with Placido Domingo, at the latter's request. For power and range try his Olimpico performance of Ogni Pietra (lightstick opening vs. fancam). The female choir answers his low notes and the male singers complement his high notes. The 2017 version of Adagio is one of his most emotional performances on the Chinese competition that made him an international star - his English then was pretty much phonetic but still brings tears. All of the performances from that show should be seen - some clips have backstage pieces that show him before and after a performance. In one, his father has flown in to surprise him. After the song he sees his father and in all earnestness asks, 'Was I good?' I love his video of 'Screaming' - completely different from his live performance. He supplies his own back-up; truly angelic.
