Today we got ABCs Say "I Love You" to Their Dads for the First Time. ABCs call their Parents in Chinese.
We're also calling our moms too so Asian Americans say "I love you" to their parents for the first time. When you think of What Asian Parents don't say, I love you is probably one of them. But it's also something that we don't say either. So let's see how asian parents react to I love you. In this case, we're seeing how Chinese parents react to I love you. This is the "I Love You Dad" Experiment or The "I Love You Mom" Experiment.

i tell my mom i love her everyday lol even when we argue. i never leave the house or get off the phone with her without saying i love you, because if anything happens to either of us the last thing we would have said to each other would be i love you. im like that with all my family and friends.

Ahh omg this is so adorable!!! Tbh you can really tell that generally Asian parents aren't really used to affection, since it isn't part of the culture. Instead, they reply with 'have you eaten' or 'is everything ok' or 'do you need anything' as their way of showing it. I was very surprised, cuz I didn't know that it's like that in Asian familys! In my family (I'm from Germany) we tell each other often that we love each other.
SoKaWi , I 'm from south América and we often tell to each other that we love plus make some actions to prove it.
Really? Here in Czechia (hi neighbor) we never say that. I never told my parents i love them and they never said it to me, it's way too awkward. Sheldon's parents said it back in English to make it less awkward i think. I love you in English sounds way more chill than in my native language and i guess canto too.
I'm a British Chinese and trust me. It's rarely said and if I do. They ask if I there's something I wanted or did something.

i know this is suppaaa late to comment on, but you guys really make me reflect on so many things. Me and my parents never really exchanged the "I love you" words. It made me realized that love is not just about expressing in words but in action. The westerns might find it weird that we don't say the i love you words between parents-children, but the thing is though we really do not say them out loud we get to know it from the actions which makes us feel secure enough knowing we are loved.

Its crazy how different cultures are. Im Black but its really normal to say "I love you". If I dont say it at least once a day my day feels off. The only time I feel uncomfortable saying it is when Im in a realtionship. To me action in that sense speaks louder than words.
