It's the power delivery. Everything now has the turbo all smoothed out. I miss the way these had a sledgehammer of torque when the boost kicks in. It's addictive and it never gets boring. Would have another for sure. Also blobeye is peak Impreza.

It tells you something, if Richard Hammond from top gear, who has driven thousands of performance cars, buys one of these and says its the best driving car he's ever had, they must be good
I bought my jdm Hawkeye sti last December. I’m 21 and so glad to have got one before the prices go mad after wanting one for years. There’s definitely not a big window of time left to get in before they become unobtainable like everything else, it’s a 20 year old car that was an icon upon its release, the price increase was inevitable imo
@@joshmason7649I’m 20 and just bought a 2003 Subaru Impreza last week. It cost me £1600 for the year and that’s with 0 years no claims as my 2 years no claims are on my work vehicle
Yeah I was 22 when I bought my first blob eye STi in the US! They had just hit the shores in 04. I actually bought a brand new WRX in 04,(paid 22k for it) Drove it for a month and traded it in for a Used 04 STi with like 5000 miles on it for 24k USD!
Those were good times, that's why I hang on to my VA STi, and try not to put too many miles on it, because good deals on JDM cars just don't exist anymore

Got a 2000 Turbo Wagon in 2017 for £2500, same car now is £7000-£8000. After that I got a R34 Skyline GTT and the video you did with the Pikachu riding shotgun in white one was a big part of what convinced me to go through with it so thank you! Just about to go for a super clean JDM Forester similarly with nice STi bits on it. Half the price of an equivalent Impreza, that is the bargain way in now!

I had my scoobie at 27yrs old in my first year of legal driving (in 2012) it was a 92 K reg import with bigger turbo and loads of tasty mods running approx 320bhp. I loved it, spent around £100 on fuel each week of the 3 weeks I had it before I wrote it off during a road rage overtake (I was injecting test and had a big burger waiting for me) so at 20 you have to be a sensible lad in one of these because they make you feel invincible with that aggressive power delivery and all that lovely noise! I would have another but mine was £800, now they are worth 10x that amount so it's unlikely. Take care and enjoy :)
The bug was the one that divided opinion so much when it first appeared on the scene, probably because of the major shape change from the classic gc8 shape that put subaru imprezas on the map. I didn't really like them much for a few years but they gradually grew on me until it started to become an obsession to own one. Finally got my black Bugeye (sti replica) 4 years ago and that car gave me some absolutely brilliant feelings when driving it. Needs a bit if tlc these days and hasn't moved in quite a while but I doubt I could sell it as it was such a dream to own one.
