When I first bought mine from a pawn shop they didn't know how to work it and I didn't either so I did not know the shudder was stuck until after I tried to use it. So I took it apart and some how it works now I didn't do much just took the top and bottom off poked around and tried to see if it was dirty and if I could somehow fix it. Well I couldn't figure it out and put it back together but magically it had got unstuck and now works perfectly fine so idk what I did lol but I did it! I did try to find anything I could to see how to fix it but I could find anything helpful that's why I gave up and then quickly regained hope.
Recently I fixed my Petri Compact E with a stuck film lever and non working shutter by using a spanner to take the inside rear lens cover off. I simply touch the shutter from the backside with a tooth pick and the camera fired. Now all works. I had a stuck shutter was all. The camera was bought by my father in the early 1960s it had sat for year. Good luck
First you set your shutter speed and then the exposure. The lever operates the meter for light exposure. You depress it while setting exposure. At 3:20 he explains rotating aperture while centering the needle for that exposure. There's also a M A designation at the base of the lens (not explained in the video). M is Manual aperture ams A is Auto. Manual aperture shows leafs shut down, so switch to Auto to see clearly through lens. When you shoot the aperture leafs stop down automatically.
Picked one up while thrifting. No idea how to use it but I liked the heft and look of it. Sadly the battery cover is corroded shut and looks like the winding mechanism is also toast.
Sad but true often these cameras get jammed and the corrosion is a common issue :( you might be able to get it going by opening the bottom and using contact cleaner on it and moving it)
The film lever issue I’ve had too many times opening the bottom and checking out the mechanism will help to figure out what part is the problem, but I think that is a common issue. Please subscrbie
Thankyou so much for this video it was just what i wanted to come across!

What do I have to do when my film lever is stuck and the frame counter doesn’t work anymore?
You can open and take a look or get it clad but honestly finding another one would be easier and more cost efficient. Please subscribe

What mount does the Petri FT use, and is there an adapter to adapt the Petri lenses to M43?
What is the feature around 4:30 used for? I’ve heard this on a lot of cameras but don’t really understand

What if the shutter curtain gets stuck?
Try using some isopropyl around the edges and some compressed air

I have two I need repaired. Reach out to me here, please
Honestly if they are in disrepair it’s better to find another one because repairs would cost more than it is worth. Please subscribe
My cousin gave me one. Hoping it works.
