That’s like saying Bugs Bunny is a ripoff of the bunny you found at your local pet store. Or like saying Ronald McDonald is a ripoff of the clowns from the circus. It’s ridiculous because a character that is supposed to be a personified object/animal/etc isn’t ripping off whatever the character is personified as.
An actual rip off would have to involve the rip-off in question directly taking elements from other sources or straight-up cashing in on what’s popular: A Car’s Life = Cars; Ratatoing = Ratatouille; Finding Jesus (yes, I am not joking) = Finding Nemo. The list can go on and on.
Whatever Tamatoa said Frank was a ripoff of is A. clearly a joke; or B. dead serious. And I’m sure it’s B.
I think what he was getting at is that the Wienerschnitzel restaurant chain has a mascot character called "The Delicious One" or TDO, who is a sentient chili dog who wears a hot dog bun like it's a coat. Tamatoa of course couldn't be bothered to put up an actual picture of the character, instead just using a picture of a real chili dog. Even if he had put up a picture of TDO, his point would still be stupid. Not much you can really do with a living hot dog, and even then the two hot dog people don't look that much alike
I love the shared psychosis going on with the Super Origami Kingdom crew.
