- Culvert Retaining Walls were built by yours truly. Today's video is all about this major driveway fix! In this video I am installing concrete culvert retaining walls aka headwall, I built the forms for the driveway culvert to keep it from eroding. This was no small task at all, lots of hard work, sweat, and a few tears. This was my first time mixing this much concrete with just the wheelbarrow, shovel, and hoe plus my First time building forms too. Thank you to TH-cam and all the awesome creators out there doing similar builds before me so I had some idea what I was in for. Hope you enjoy today's video! You are awesome ❤ the only thing I would add is to dig a few inches below the bottom of the pipe so that the concrete is below grade. This will help prevent soil from eroding under the cement collar and causing it to shift. If it does shift, it will take the pipe along with it causing it to be deform or distort or possibly break.

I was given a madock and I rarely use my pick now. You can move much more soil on jobs like that. And great for chipping noctious weeds and sapplings etc just under the stem.
I also love my mclcoud tool for general raod maintenance etc.🤠

Amazing. Hard Work but very well done. People do not understand that when you are alone all jobs have to be done andost times you have to do it on your own. I know, within five years of my marriage my husband wS diagonized with Memory Liss and it was downhill from there. I had to do it all . Snow Shovelling, Grass Cutting and all prep for winter every year and all Gardening and Repairs. You just get to it and get it done. Congrats to you. Blessings

Had to give a thumbs up for the cute lil kitten.
This just gave me a good idea though. I am doing my driveway culverts and the builder let us have all the leftover brick and 12 bags of mortar.
Several of my neighbors have paid an average of $7000 for a set of driveway culverts. Aint no damn way. But I watched the workers installing them. They put down a footer and then use cinderblocks as the structure of the culvert. They cover that with decorative stone and cap off the top with a flat stone. I was sitting here trying to figure out how to get my brick to perfectly cover the exposed edges of the cinderblocks without having to break a bunch of bricks to a specific size.
My point is now I can just skip the cinderblocks and make a custom form to whatever size I want and then cover that in my brick. At least it seems that simple to me. Gotta revisit this in the morning when my brain is working better. Im also considering just making the wall totally out of bricks and double a double wide wall rather than single but man I hate laying brick. I feel like it would be so much easier just facing something already perfectly flat and squared.

But I am thinking of moving and came across a channel that was talking about available land for sale. Some property was in Benton County I believe. Your advise would be appreciated if you know of area.

Yes to prevent erosion plus to give an edge to the driveway where it drops off to the culvert
