    I totally forgot to put this comment on your last video, but I did that same thing with bulk stickers for my jewelry business. I ended up taking time to remove the backings and putting the stickers on wax paper when I knew I was going to need to use them. Maybe that might work for you also. Just a thought! I loved the tour of your property! Thank you for sharing all the things! Congrats again to the winners! Great photos!

      Hey Amanda. I found that with a semi sharp knife I can split them apart lickety split. lol It's not as fast as having them on a roll though. lol I used to do those walk arounds once a month, but hardly anyone watched them. So I don't do them as often. We're starting to get some ripe watermellons now. The canteloupes are about done for. Take care.

    #1 I am a relatively new lover of bees. #2 My hat is off to beekeepers minding their bees in 90+ degree weather in the direct sun. Wow. #3 My hat is off to beekeepers (period). #4 I was smiling imagining it was Hank Hill in that bee suit because you have the same Texas drawl - then you brought up Hank and I broke out laughing. #5 Thank you 🐝

    Hey Darren, another great video. I try to strategically place my hives so that they get morning sun and afternoon shade. Seems to be working well.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey BBCB. Yes, shade makes a huge difference on the beekeeper. Less fanning on the bees too, so less energy they consume cooling the hives. Thanks for watching.

      Hey Louise - did you get your Amazon e-card in your email? I don't have any ladies tights handy, or I would. lol I did use a paint strainer for the wax balls and it worked pretty good. Then I strain it thru a T shirt for the extra fine contaminates. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.

    We just went and looked at our bees. I really need to get a better suit. Bees are more important right now. My husband has one he works with them more right now. I on the other had took 4 stings. The bees were to be his. Turns out I love doing it to lol.

      I had a cheap suit when I started out, and upgraded pretty quick. May as well get a good one to start with and not waste the money on the other. Guardian bee jackets are awesome, I highly recommend them. There's a link in this video on the first comment and the video description. Funny you became the bee caretaker now. LOL Good luck!

    Darren, sorry about not getting you a picture of me wearing the gloves from Guardian. They are nice gloves and I showed them to a couple of bee buddies and they were impressed also. sure glad you got a good rain. Maybe you'll get a small fall flow now. Have a good week.

      Hey Russell, no worries. Glad you like those gloves. I'm pretty sure the alfalfa is blooming again after the cut earlier in the summer. Two years ago it did the same. Asters and goldenrod shouldn't be too far off. Hopefully fills up my other hives for winter. I don't care for feeding so much. lol Take care.

    Darren. I've been experimenting with Chuck from Jacksonville YT channel of a quart of 1:4 thin syrup along with 1/4 lb pollen patties once a week and they are really building up.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Hope. 1:4 is super thin. I never heard of that thin before. I guess they aren't complaining. lol Have to watch those pollen patties around here. The SHB's will lay them up with eggs and then they get a foothold and slime out your hive. Disguisting creatures. I had a little sliver like that in another hive and it filled up with those larvae so bad, I put it on the ground and smooshed it with all the nasty little suckers in there. Thanks for watching.

    I purchased my Hillco decapping tank about six months after you did and mine came with those heavy-duty casters. Sure do like them. I did notice one thing different about mine and yours. That pin that we put our frames on to hold in place when removing the caps mine is shorter than yours. I think I would rather have the taller one would make it easier to rotate the frames. Great video.

    • @Burntbranchcreekbees
      @Burntbranchcreekbees 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a similar situation with mine. I called Hillco and they manufactured a new one for me at no charge. They definitely take care of their customers.

    • @macguinn5563
      @macguinn5563 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Burntbranchcreekbees I could do that but I figured why bother. I texted them and asked if mounting bolts came to secure the bar in place that we put the frames on to uncap. They told me that they would send me some I got tired of waiting and got my own.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My tank was a pretty early model. It's built a little narrow, so I have to put the frames in at an angle and then push them up. I wacked it like John said and it did widen it up a bit. It works great. The ones he has now look much sturdier, but mine didn't cost near that much. And that long pin - I jabbed my forearm with it one time and stuck me pretty good. Won't do that again. lol Thanks for watching!

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think Burnt Branch, you're talking about the valve. Yeah, I was an early adapter of that as well. LOL I got the new one in the mail to day. I need to get it opened up. But first I have about ten gallons of honey in there I need to bottle up.

  • @HoneyHollowHomestead
    @HoneyHollowHomestead 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been thinking (I know, a very dangerous activity!), if you wanted the wax but not the honey, would you manage the bees and the hives differently?

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey HHH. Well, to get the wax, you have to take the honey out, so you really would have both regardless. The wax cappings off the honey comb is the purest wax and is usually very light colored and clean.

    I have wax dipped bee furniture . I like it’s durability against the weather but it is very dark and the sun makes the hives very hot . I live in southern Georgia about 40 miles south of Atlanta on Highway 90 1.5 miles west of the Flint River .
    I would like to paint my hives white . How can I prepare the waxed wood to accept the white paint ?

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Rod. I haven't heard of anyone painting wax dipped boxes. You should post it on one of the FB beekeeping groups and see what they say. As long as it gets a grip, I think it would be ok. Maybe start with a good primer. Good luck.

    Thx for sharing. Seems like the pissy hives foraging is a little better. Do you think it is just because of hive strength or genetics?

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Kennith. They are both really strong hives. I figure that's most of it, and they do seem to be great foragers too. We'll see how they do next year. Thanks for watching.

    Hello Darren a few things . As usual LOL. On your bottling tank I have the same one. On the fitting that screws in the tank if I screw it in far enough to get it to stop leaking then the O-Ring pushes out an it leaks anyway also if I screw just to the point that O-Ring doesn’t leak THEN the Bottling will not stay still when I pull down on the lever to fill bottles it keeps turning. I am thinking the O-Ring may be the wrong size an the fitting coming out of the tank needs to be tapered so the O-Ring can go inside the threads a little to keep it from squeezing out when the flange fitting is tightened down. Did you have any trouble with your there at the O-Ring. ???. (2) on your strong father-in -laws hive with them bringing in a lot of nectar or feeding them I think if you need any foundation built out I think I would put a box of foundation in it to maybe get it drown out . (3) you needed BBQ sauce on that hive beetle larvae if you were cooking them . LOL . WOW your colonies are sure looking great . Thanks

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Kathy. My valve is leaking at the top where the plunger goes into the valve body. I think the 3d printed fitting wore against that metal plunger that goes up & down. It didn't leak at all when it was new. This is only the second season for it I think. So it hasn't had a lot of bottling done. Probably around 800 lbs of honey bottled when it started seeping. The honey super on the left was drawn when I put it on and the other one I don't remember, but I don't think it was drawn much if any. This time of year, I can't get them to draw comb at all. Just no nectar flow. I don't know where those pissy bees found nectar, but it was sure dark stuff. lol I have another hive with a super I'll check, and if they aren't working it, I'll move it over to the pissy towers. LOL Thanks for watching and the nice comment. Take care.

      @@JeromeBeeFarm hello Ya I did not know if you were having to feed a lot at this point yet but I was just thinking if so they might pull out some comb for you . I went into my colonies here at the house yesterday just to put some pollen patties on an all I was going to do was just pop the inter cover off an slide the patties in. Hell no they ate me up bad .
