The right way to do it is to take out the front and rear glass, because the headliner wraps around the window channels. Also, when you put your glass & new seals in place, they will help hold the headliner in place.
Man... that guy is GOOD ! The best how-to ! Recommend you have this video at the ready on a lap top in the shop so you can watch and follow along step by step. It worked for me.
great how to video.....wondering how long it took the factory to install headliners like this? It had to be one of the more time consuming part of assembly .
Adán muy buen trabajo profesional usted es el único ispano que nos muestra y nos enseña con aquella gran paciencia gracias muchas gracias yo he aprendido todo lo que usted hace en sus vídeos gracias nuevamente
Had a look at doing our 68 Mustang coupe myself, got about 5 minutes in to pulling trim off and realised just how HUGE a job this is. I was going to try and cheat and leave the screens in, with the mind set of, " oh well, the existing head liner looks like crap anyway " Damn, its going to be a while before I can afford to get this done. Things are a LOT more expensive here in Australia. Watching this video really hit home how tricky a job this is. Thanks mate.
Seems almost impossible that it could be done quickly and turn out smooth on the line. I'm sure they had a technique down, maybe the original liners had more of the curved roof shape built into them.
Not really. The right way to do it is to take out the front and rear glass. because the headliner wraps around the window channels. Also, when you put your glass & new seals in place, they will help hold the headliner in place.
I’m assuming the glue has to be slow drying for time to install the headliner. Where can this glue be found? I’m ready to do a headliner install in my 67 GTO.
We're not sure what the exact brand or type of glue was that this installer used, but there are a few glues out there made specifically for headliners. A little googling for "headliner adhesive" yields some handy results. Good luck!
Everyone has their own method. This method is the most difficult I have seen! You shouldn't glue anything till its done and held tight with pieces of wind lace or strong paper clips (clamp type) I know a Mustang restorer who uses no glue. The windshield and wind lace as well as the chrome door channel hold it in. This method would not be good for a first timer!
That is a foil sound shield that we sell in a bulk roll: secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/10330.html. We also offer factory style insulation for the roof: secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/m247.html. The best preforming roof insulation we offer is probably the Hush mats: secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/store/Search.aspx?SearchTerms=hush&CatID=0
I used this stuff: www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/100022871.html There is also this kit, which it already cut to size and is more like the original insulation: www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/m247.html
Thank you very much for posting this. I scoured the internet looking for the best tutorial for install in a ‘69 coupe and this was the the best by far. Haters gonna hate, but your headliner and mine look tits.
i used this video to atempt my first try! and it was a success!! it was very very hard. thankyou for this video and also can you tell me how hard it was to find the spots for the top light and the visors i did the same thing and didnt put bolts in their spots to mark them? please help hahah thanks.
Pretty much, although in 69-70 you have the "sail panels" in the back, which cover the C-pillars, so the headliner doesn't go down as far. This probably makes it easier!
Does the glass have to be removed to install a new headliner?
No, but it’s way easier.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Great video. How long do you have until that glue sets up. Seems like you have awhile. Again great job!!

When I worked at Ford motor company back in the day We used Steam to tighten vinyl
1:51 he says: De este lado or Este lado. Lado means side (this side)....Lake in spanish would be lago, kind of similar tone but completely different.
Thanks for posting a real how-to video!!!
No dynamat in the pillars?
Imagine installing these fast while the car was moving down the assembly line. Would be interesting to see how the workers did it back in the day.
Agreed! Wonder how quickly they could do this at the factory.

Excellent! This man’s hands and fingers are stronger than a snapping turtles jaws.

Install headliner in a hud
Yeah cause if it needs adjusting you're screwed, the owner looked like he was going in the right direction and just gave up.
I think in the factory they used steam to work out the wrinkles. I guess you could also use a $30 steam gun.
What is the insulation that's installed already?

Great tutorial video! Except where they keep making fun of the guy's way of speaking. Guy looks like a hard worker, he shouldn't have been mocked.

Horrible translations and have respect for the man's name...lol

Dang! Learning from a master😆💪👍Don, I do have one question... "What are the order of the bows for a '70 Cat?
"pass the mayo" god damn that's funny.
Good end result
is this the same as a 69 coupe

At least you found some decent music that doesn't scramble your brain cells
I HOPE that comment is sarcasm!
