When Karl says he hasn’t done much and doesn’t understand why people care about him, he doesn’t realise how much joy and happiness his TV appearances brought to millions of people.

I really wish Karl would see more value in what he does. When he spoke about feeling like he's not doing anything of purpose in comparison to Hitchens or someone academically sucessful I think he's completely wrong. His work has brought so much happiness to so many people, and got people through really difficult periods in their life. Whether one is happy or sad, Karl always makes the day better; and making someone's life better, or making someone smile, is the most valuable thing you can do. We love you Karl
I just said the same thing. It sounds like he is completely unaware of how much laughter and happiness he has brought to peoples lives, just focuses on a few negative comments that aren't even that bad (new work not the same as old work).
Karl's reluctance to interrupt the cleaner because "she's just trying to get her job done" tells you everything you need to know about him. Great bloke.
On the other hand his reluctance to help his neighbour by taking a parcel in suggests you shouldn't judge someone on just one data point. After all the Amazon driver is 'just trying to get his job done'
1:02:56 Karl goes on this extremely insightful rant about how people see him like he's Homer Simpson and just want him to be the same character and do the same bits his entire life, but he can't even if he wanted to because he's older and a different person now. He then immediately proceeds into classic Karl/(Homer Simpson) 1:04:40 telling another one of his infamous stories in only the way he can. He claims that he can't give us what we want anymore because he isn't his past self anymore, but he doesn't realize that it's his personality, the way he processes/analyzes/expresses his thoughts and opinions, the way he tells a story, that make him the person that we've all come to love, something that will never change.
The podcast route is a good one for him, even though he's said he's done with it. Don't think he realises how many people connect with his way of thinking. Very relatable.
Honestly I was literally thinking this without reading it. He is actually perfect for a podcast. He has such a sweet take on most things among having a head like fucking... yeah

Karl is starting to do more podcasts because there is just a pure and simple demand for his view on the world. Realism and honesty at its finest hahaha. He may be the smartest man alive... although he may not... But it's entertainment. People know the Ricky Gervais XFM show off by heart, word for word for a reason :). What a brilliant thing! Cheers
Had me laughing almost immediately, when he starts about not being able to find your hotel room in Vegas. And his observation about Vegas is bang on, in my opinion.
The world is slowly going into lock-down, no one has anything to do, depression is kicking in. Bout time Karl, Ricky and Steve got back together for some uplifting podcasts. They don't have to be together and could record form their homes.

I have listened to hundreds of hours of Karl Pilkington interacting with people and Craig is the only person I have ever heard that gets Karl. They complemented each other’s thought processes really well. Even when they argued, it was from a point of equal as opposed to people usually talking down to him. You can tell the host has radio experience. That introduction just gave me enough time, was done in the right way that I was completely settled, relaxed, ready to listen and unwind. A lot of these podcasters can't relate to that. Hyperactive drama alert esque introductions, sound eq way off the podcast itself etc. This was a great listen and will definitely check out more of the podcasts.
I can't believe Karl mentions Christopher Hitchens. I was like 😲 but then he did say that he didn't really understand what he was talking about. Love Karl, so interesting to listen to and inspiring...love what he was saying about Daniel, so relatable...I loved the episode where he met him, totally how I want to live my life free from societal pressures and just enjoy life and nature and relationships because who knows how long we've got...there's definitely more to life than working - that's for sure! And although life always drags you back into stress I think the more focussed on loving life and being free you are the much more quality your life will be. I love how open Karl is to different takes on things and never judges anyone, that's how everybody should be!
Good relationship between you two, love hearing Karl chuckle at ease! “What does he know that I don’t... but my ass does!” Karl’s helped me out immensely in down times, would love to shake his hand 🤝 Also enjoyed both of you in the Sick of It ‘sofa’ episode 😄
When he said it would be hard to move abroad now because he has cats, it made me think back to his quote “if you lose your cat, just get another one” 😆
Someone should tell him to write more books. I actually own and have read almost all of Christopher hitchens books, and what I am a huge fan, if I had to choose between one of his and one of Mr pilkington's on a rainy day, I would choose Mr pilkington's every time. I think his genuine and unique outlook on the world is what makes him so brilliant, and I struggle to understand why he can't realize this about himself. He is a great value and accomplishment simply by his own virtue. I would really love for him to write some more books, maybe an autobiography, maybe even fiction. In the words of Christopher hitchens, the written word will remain. It would be a great way for karl to feel like he is really an accomplishment unto himself. He really is a brilliant writer, at least I think so.
If you're reading this now Karl , you have soooo many fans , people who listen to you every night they go to bed. At one point listening to your podcasts was the only conversation I felt like I was a part of , the only time I would laugh in the day. I'm not that sad now but I still listen/watch you just for enjoyment. I'm pretty sure you've influenced more people in this way then a lot of the 'smart' people out there. Maybe you should make a TH-cam account go live and chat? Maybe you should start vlogging. Maybe you should write down everything you think you might want and write down all the reasons why and why not so you can figure it out properly so it doesn't bother you anymore.
pr omi I found the Ricky gervais podcast on TH-cam a couple of days ago and I have listened to it when I was quarantining and hearing Karl’s voice made my week. He is honestly incredible. Here is one of his quotes I heard by listening to the Ricky Gervais Podcast: “do you control your brain or does your brain control you?”. Karl if you are reading this don’t stop being you, as you are perfect.
Its nice to hear Karl being allowed to talk with out Ricky and Steve keep interrupting him and making him look stupid every 5 mins, Karl is actually quite knowledgeable and cool to listen too, Well done to the interviewer
So glad I’ve stumbled on this, good to hear Karl again. He’s still mad but I can really relate to him, he’s never settled, unsure, never quite happy etc. but deep down he’s alright. Good bloke n a good chat 👍
It's crazy how so long ago Ricky said it was his goal to make Karl so famous that he would always be harassed when he goes out in public. His wish came true and now in retrospect you can see how nasty a thing it was to wish upon someone so reluctant to be famous.
Ozy Mandias - while I do completely agree, Karl is still putting himself out there with ‘Sick of It’ and doing interviews like this. He could choose not to do anything in the public eye at all, then it would be worse if it still happened. But it WOULD still happen at this point, and if I was him I’d still do stuff anyway and just deal with the fame by complaining too.
Karl really doesnt realise how much he means to people..... I have had some massive losses in life recently, only thing thats got me through some days is listening to Karl .....
More pioneered it than invented it. But yeah i take your point. He wasn't the first but definitely the biggest and best and the greatest and most popular podcast.
Karl goes on about leaving something to be remembered by when he dies. He's so unaffected by all this he doesn't realize how much his soft voice and funny stories helps people. If I was on my death bed I couldn't think of anything else I'd want to listen to. Thank God for KP!!!
Sometimes the TH-cam queues amaze me. I recall finding Misfits years ago and finding it adorable and entertaining. This cat interviewing Karl was in it for a few episodes and recalled being amazed by his natural ability as an actor. So much so that I wondered why I had never seen him before. Now here he is doing a podcast.
It's a real testament to Karl's modesty that he genuinely doesn't understand quite why people want to meet him and get a photo, etc. I'd love to meet Karl because the XFM shows, 20 years on, are still a big part of my life - I listen all the time, and An Idiot Abroad is one of my favourite travelogues of all time too. The man is responsible for hourssss of great entertainment that I rate very highly. Also, the eating was more off-putting than the vacuum cleaner tbf...
What is the intro song? Karl, you are a little hero of mine. Helped me through depression and kept me going despite plans to do the unthinkable... pheew
I never thought I’d hear my man Karl mention my hero, my lord and saviour Christopher Hitchens. But I’m so glad he did. And everyone MUST listen to the man.
Just in case this can be passed along to Karl, in response to “What’s so great about me? I’m not Justin Bieber.” What’s wonderful about Karl is his unique perspectives and uncommonly honest perspectives. That’s what I appreciate about him. I’ve never heard anyone willing to talk about the misery of Las Vegas the way he does and I appreciate that that matters to him. He put that so well; “It’s soulless”. The difference between him and a lot of famous people is that the fact that it’s a cold, soulless place matters to him. This reveals how much the soul matters to him and I’d rather spend time listening to someone like that, than typical people who only care about the money.
44:45 Karl "I had a bloke who read my arse. It's called rumpology. He said I was going to move to Italy." Craig "Whereabouts?" Karl "He's not that good." Might be the funniest non-Ricky podcast thing Karl has said.

Karl's changed that's why. Back in the Noughties with Ricky and Steve Karl did talk nonsense.
I’m happy this conversation is a 1 of 1, but it would be brilliant to hear these two talk about everything and nothing again 🙏🏼
Grow up
1:20:00 is the new Karl, he's come so far and he knows it.
Within seconds of hearing his voice again I have a smile across my face
Best Karl interview imo C'an't believe how quick the time went. Hope Karl keeps doing new stuff, loved Sick of It!!
1:11:50 he's just such a nice guy and this is one of my favourite things he's said
"There's an argument for everything but there is never a good argument for cruelty"
Karl would suit Italian lifestyle. Very laid back. Big garden.
So glad I’ve stumbled on this, good to hear Karl again. He’s still mad but I can really relate to him, he’s never settled, unsure, never quite happy etc. but deep down he’s alright. Good bloke n a good chat 👍
Never get tired of listening to Karl, hes a national treasure
Feel sorry for Karl being harassed by people when he goes out.
That's the name of the game sadly 😅
GambleFella99 when he said about Suzanne , How you can ignore such a legend of the pilkington lore il never know
@@3coldcapricorn227 mate I listen to all the old XFM's when I'm stuck in Tesco stocking shelves hahaha
Karl Pilkington invented the podcast
More pioneered it than invented it. But yeah i take your point. He wasn't the first but definitely the biggest and best and the greatest and most popular podcast.
Ricky Gervais pitched the idea of podcasts to Karl and Steve.
Karl goes on about leaving something to be remembered by when he dies. He's so unaffected by all this he doesn't realize how much his soft voice and funny stories helps people. If I was on my death bed I couldn't think of anything else I'd want to listen to. Thank God for KP!!!
31:55 just to hear him say the word coronavirus.
This is perfect timing for today, anyone else bored indoors! spot on
This has to be the second best interview I've heard with Karl, and it's only second to the first one you two did together! ❤
🤢
Sometimes the TH-cam queues amaze me. I recall finding Misfits years ago and finding it adorable and entertaining. This cat interviewing Karl was in it for a few episodes and recalled being amazed by his natural ability as an actor. So much so that I wondered why I had never seen him before. Now here he is doing a podcast.
Please make a podcast Karl. Myself and so many others would love to hear you
I don't know what I'm meant to be doing. I completely get that feeling.
KARL IS IN TOUCH WITTH HIS SPIRITUAL SIDE!!! WELL DONE MATE
Karl talking about what job he wants, his own podcast would be perfect but I'll listen/watch anything he wants to make anyways
Really lovely conversation, I could’ve listened for hours!
Karl really has to start his own podcast. Once a day and it’ll keep him busy. Problem solved.
Nice to hear Karl be able to speak out. Instead of him being talked over. Greetings from DK
A Karl Pilkington Podcast would be dope.
I really love how you interact with KP...very kind and genuine interview style.
What is the intro song?
Karl, you are a little hero of mine. Helped me through depression and kept me going despite plans to do the unthinkable... pheew
So pleased to hear that he helped you from not doing that. He's helped so much listening to him through depression
I never thought I’d hear my man Karl mention my hero, my lord and saviour Christopher Hitchens. But I’m so glad he did. And everyone MUST listen to the man.
After all these years Karl's jeans are still wet
“More importantly, are you staying indoors” what a ridiculous time.
I enjoy all of Karl's new podcast appearances! He seems quite level-headed now.
1 episode a week podcast where Karl gets different guests on, some are celebrities and some not. Speaking to scientists etc would be great.
Amazing interviewer, 👏 so easy to listen to
Never heard this before... Just searched KP and found ya. 4 mins in and already subscribed lad. Cheers for this, needed it!
Karl resonates with so many people ,hes spot on with what he says
Always a good chatt with karl ! He need a podcast ! Cheers from sweden
Great show thank you! Well done to both.
44:45 Karl "I had a bloke who read my arse. It's called rumpology. He said I was going to move to Italy."
Craig "Whereabouts?"
Karl "He's not that good."
Might be the funniest non-Ricky podcast thing Karl has said.
Karl , you keep me smiling mate. I'm just like you in what you do and think. But seeing myself in you makes me grin. Thanks karl
Two real people having a chat, what a pleasure.
Ricky’s mission to make Karl famous has truly been accomplished.
I was so impressed with "Sick Of It". Karl you are a legend man, whatever you do people will like, just back yourself.
Brilliant podcast. No nonsense and good conversation. 👍
I could listen to these two gents all day.
Same 😂
The world needs Karly Pilkboys more than ever before.
Late for Karl?! How dare you! You're lucky it was gold like the last one buddy, thank you.
