Why aren’t these in every supermarket in the nation
Here is hoping that, like the motorized shopping carts, this will become a commonly available item in most stores. The mom is 100% right, pushing a shopping cart is something many people don't even think twice about, but is a real challenge for many people - especially as grocery stores in general seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. I've been unable to shop with normal carts for a few years now, as my lower body has become weaker and weaker. I'm so relieved that this happened after motorized carts became fairly common. I can't imagine how I would be functioning today if that weren't the case.
But I found this video while searching for information on ways to use a normal shopping cart with an electric wheelchair. I'm not there yet, and my doctors are trying to stop it from getting that bad, but as the possibility that I'll become fully chair bound increases I keep looking things like this up - so I'll be prepared when/if it happens. It's nice to know such a thing exists now, and if I get to that point in the future, I can ask my local stores about the possibility of getting some of these carts.
That is damn sweet for people that are truly in a wheelchair, Publix is the greatest!!!
It's a great idea. My only issue is even with adults, they're hard to see over. If it hooked on, and the basket sat above the feet but below the shoulders, that would be nice. Or one that can go down??
