Parvo is very contagious:
Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus transmitted primarily through contact with an infected dog’s droppings. Unfortunately, it is very resilient, able to survive in the ground for up to a year and is easy to track into homes through contact with shoes or clothing.
Parvo can kill quickly:
Parvo most severely affects a dog’s intestinal tract. Symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea. All of these can lead to life-threatening dehydration within 2-3 days of symptoms appearing.
Parvo is preventable:
Parvo is easy to prevent through vaccination. Young puppies, who are the most susceptible, can be vaccinated against the virus when they are 6-8 weeks old, with additional boosters required through 4 months.
Most rescue pups are vaccinated:
Most shelters and rescues handle vaccinations before adopting out the animal, so your rescue dog is likely already protected from Parvo and other diseases by the time you take her home. Just make sure to get her a booster every three years.
There are treatment options for Parvo:

my baby Aki had this, but I never knew and thaught he was just sick, We didn't have the money to get him to a vet so we left him in the house, when I got back home, he was gone. Aki is only 3 months old. His life was taken at such an early age, not to mention it's December 24. It's 1 day till Christmas. I never got a present but got a broken heart, may you rest in peace Aki ❤️

I got 3 puppies, 2 males and one female. The two males have cosmo and scar died from parvo, my female puppy nala was doing well but she now has parvo I pray that she makes it through this and I’m trying my best to soothe her back to health at home! (Update: unfortunately she passed away, the vet said it would be best to put her down.)

I think a good tip should be is your puppy can still get parvo after vacations. Most people who just bought a puppy wanna show him off at petsmart or dog park.
vaccines help him fight it off without being hospitalized, if he does get it.
That's not even a good tip. The good tip is: your pup should get vaccinated before you take them out for a walk. While the wait of 4 months is so long. It's worth it rather than watch your pup suffer.
@@panchotheaddict420 then if that is so why do UK Pet Insurers refuse to over Parvo once a dog has had it. my Lovely and very active 13 year old dog was a secure puppy. she was handed into rescue aged 5 weeks.. its an estimate. the people who had her first lied about their contact details. the rescue put her into isolation, just in case and the very next day she was very ill with the stomoch version of parvo. the nursed her and put her up for adopted aged 11 weeks. i adopted her at age 12 weeks and have had her in good health, ever since. However, if she ever goes down ith parvo again in her life she is not covered by the pet insurer. I have to say, if anyone says they canot afford a vet they have no business owning a pet. i wish more people would do their research first: on the breed, its risk for all sorts of things, its size and expense to feed, look after and buy equipment for. In addition, i grew up with family dogs until i was 21 and left home. As i lived in London flats and did over 20 years of shift work I made a decision not to have a longed for dog until I wasn;t on long shifts and until i lived in a house. I waited until i was 55 and early retired from work and had a house and garden. more people should sacrifice thei own desires to be a pet owner if any one of the above things is not in place or able to be financed.
My puppy got diagnosed with this this morning. They allowed me to take her home for the night... She seemed better for a while but now she's looking in pretty bad shape again. Please pray for her to survive. 😭

How is she now?
My puppy died from this today. I didnt know you could vaccinate them for it. Once I heal from the loss and decide to get a new dog this is the first thing I'll be getting them.
My sister's puppy has passed away today. She doesn't know what was happening, she bring the dog to the vet and they put drip on him, he ate,but last night he poop blood almost a bucket, he passed away this morning. The vet doesn't even know what was wrong with her. They have poor service. Now I'm sure he has parvo. I have no idea there's a virus like this I'm this world and could kill dogsvery quickly. My sister still upset. Me too.
Why didn’t you take your puppy to the vet to get vaccinated? That’s common sense! Your lack of responsibility really angers me. Do not go to a breeder, adopt, never shop. But be damn responsible and get ready to pay out of pocket! I hope you’re not thinking of the cost because owning a pet will cost!
@@gmar7836 You need to realize that a puppy cannot be vaccinated until the age of 6-8 weeks and even then they are not fully protected until after their third booster and can still catch it very easily. It is all over outdoors, in the soil, the grass, etc.
Sorry for your loss, I lost my buddy today and am kicking myself for not getting him vacc'd.

I had a Boerbull pup that had parvo ive tried every thing till he was totally flat on his tummy, He was laying in his own vomit and popo, Then ive tried the last remedy that my dad use on us as kids i crushed garlick and made a garlic juice and put a 10mm seringe of garlic juice down his throat and the evening again before i went to bed. The next morning his was up and alive and barking at my window and thw old 2day food that was in his bucket were finnish and his still alive today. My son told his friend that i saved my dog from parvo and he phoned me for the receipt and i gave it to him and he also saved his dog.
I wish you had said what you treat it with since you have a specialty clinic. Not all vets are aware of the latest discoveries. My dog is at an emergency veterinary clinic right now and I just hope they have lots of options in case the first things they try don't work. I am trying to get all the info I can.
mine she's diagnose that she had parvovirus yesterday ,it's really break my heart coz for the months you did everything that to be a good mother for her ,you can see that she's healthy then one-day a shocking day she's vomit,not eating ,diarhea you always beside her and now she's trying to fight her life in a very young age 3months old ,pls help us to prayed for my baby Bella to survive this deadly virus , I still believing that my baby Bella is a very brave and stronger puppy she's the only puppy I want and I love her lots,,I'm not ready to loose her 😭😭😭

I'm heart broken😭, my pup also 3months, alrdy 2 shot vacc,, 5days after the second shot she suddenly loss appetite eat, vomit, diarrhea. I suspect he got it before his second shot,, now admitted n on iv😭😭

My vet has given my puppy bio cam LR at the age of 3 months still he died at 4 months age in oarvo . So I want to know is bio cam Lr not a good vaccine for parvo ? I was told this vaccien contain vaccien for distemper parvo and rabies and hepatitis so isn’t this a good vaccien for parvo prevention ? My baby boy brucy is fighting for his life In hospital it's been the 4th day now that his on treatment....I lost my other puppy on Friday from parvo...it is so heartbreaking....my wife has been crying everyday....

It breaks my heart to see any dog in pain my puppy was vaccinated and still got it her mom had it too when she was a puppy she was in a lot of pain she stayed overnight at the vet cause she threw up dark brown blood and poop to she lost so much weight in a short time no appetite whatsoever she is almost 7 months old she is a Belgian malonise
he also emty his food bucket of 2 days old dry food and barking at the window. My son told his dog friends and one of the phoned me and ask me the remedy and i gave it to him cause his pup had parvo and he treated the pup and his pup survided.

@@Waikhom007 Thank you. It's really heart breaking moment 💔. Actually she told me that someone poisoned him because in their beliefs dog are dirty creatures 😔, someone has threatened her that she will poison her dog just because for having a dog as pet. I'm still in shock.

i lost 2 dogs consecutively one hit by vehicle and later one by parvo disease.
Its heart breaking.

I had six puppies who had parvo but I never new until one died,later that day another one died then the vegetarian came to check and he said it was pravo he treated all four but only one made it

I have given my boy three shots in total yet he has contracted
A total of 4 vaccines is required with the 1st vaccine starting at about 6-8 weeks of age. It really doesn't serve any purpose to vaccinate until after the puppy is weaned since the mother's milk protects puppies from "stuff" BUT do what you think you should do.

I don't know if mine has parvo or not but they all have similar symptoms, like full liquid blood stool and vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, always laying down

My 4 month puppy is recovering and is in isolation for the next two weeks. We also have her brother in lockdown, he was exposed to her. His test was negative but Is only been 4 days since he last was exposed to her, I heard it can take up to 14 days for parvo to hit once exposed. Hope he doesn’t get it.

I had My 2 month puppy for about 6 days and he has parvo and is recovering from it now. I have an older dog and I know he’s been exposed as well. Earlier he wouldn’t eat but his poop looked normal and he ate when we got back inside I’m just worried
@@chassityym just force feed them food and water. Give them the medicine from the vet and you’ll be good. Luckily none of other three dogs got it.

Guys if your dog has been fully vaccinated and gotten parvo get him the best treatment available and contact the vaccine manufacturer. They will cover the vet bills at least in the US

It's possible. There are different strains. I'm sure it's very rare. At least in the US if your dog has been fully vaccinated and still got parvo get him top medical treatment and contact the vaccine manufacturer. They will cover the vet bills
Prevent Parvo is possible if your dog is vaccinated, well... thats true, although for the poor people like me, I guess when our dog got the Parvo Virus, I guess its a goodbye then :(
