What Happened to UNLOCKABLE STYLES In Fortnite?

  • In Chapter 1 Season 4 we saw the introduction of Unlockable/Selectable Styles. Skins like Carbide and Omega were progressable by leveling up throughout the season. However, In season 5 Fortnite made Drift and Ragnarok progressable through XP earned throughout the season. And In chapter 2, we saw the disappearance of skins with multiple stages to them that were progressable. Today we just get re-colors of the same skin. Let me know your thoughts on this topic, and would you like to see skins with multiple stages return?

    basically, the styles today are rubbish and in the past they were much better and I completely agree with that

      REAL and they’re always talking about some: “Glasses On/Glasses Off” styles🙄

    It's simple, it's because these progressive styles only exist because of stw. A lot of heroes in stw get new styles depending on how far in the game you are, and multiple of these heroes are also skins in Ch1 BPs. While Epic were still maintaining stw, they would take advantage of this stw hero system and also make it be a BP skin in BR. After stw stopped getting full time development, the creation of these BPs skins started to slowdown till it stopped.

    Here's what happened, people were not wearing the other styles. When it comes to drift people were only wearing his first style, the the hood style, and his final style. Making skins with stages takes a long time, what's the point if people aren't going to wear all the styles. That's why now they only make skins with only 3 edits styles. (The Fade skin is a good example)

      100% the extra styles in between are useless, but something about the 4+ stage upgradable (XP/Level) skins made it so much better to grind idk it like tricked your mind. Even though I’m not gonna use the other styles once I have the max style it was still a fun process and we just don’t have that same concept anymore so you know most of the times you don’t even know you unlock a new style for a skin, but yea enough yappin from me

    I remember getting the lights on that thing, i just entered a match sat in a bush and went afk. I did that over 70 times at the end of the season just for the lights

    I feel like Epic just got lazy with making skins more exciting. If you look at a lot of recently recent skins like celebrities like the Weekend for example you would see they get different skins while in the past they would have just made it different styles. It's not what it used to be and they release skins only for a quick cash grab.

      Agree! It sucks to see. And yea, epic is all about the money and they will milk it as much as they can. I appreciate the comment btw!

    I agree even tho i was never close to getting omega lights its still one of my fav skins, progessive styles imo is what makes so chapter 1 bp better than ones we have now

      100% agree. It'd be great if they ever made a return in future battle passes. It's a much better feeling grinding for the next stage of a skin than it is grinding for superstyles.

    The stages were still somehow present with the Charolette hagiri skin from chapter 2 season 8 just to let you know but I think it wasn’t present in future chapters, stray could of had staged but they decided to just make him look cool and not making him look different with each stage (stray is from chapter 4 season 2) but I think it is not present in skins of seasons/chapters after that (edit: In chapter 3 season 1 with the ronin skin this was kinda present with the skin so yeah)

    • @TheKidDrippy
      @TheKidDrippy  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yea you can for sure make the case for Charlotte and Ronin. But the way I looked at it was from the perspective of the skins having a serious evolution. A skin can have two different looking styles and I get that, but I personally wouldn't count that with what I'm referring to, you know what I mean. Like every skin that had progressable styles in chapter 1 had 4+ stages and drastically changed which is something we haven't seen past chapter 1. That was my view of it. I understand that some skins past chapter 1 may have another style that is unlockable through xp and leveling up, but 1 style is not enough when they're still generally wearing the same outfit. W comment though, Love going back and forth with you and everyone in general! (Edit: I feel like my comment my be a little aggresive and so I just wanted to clarify that I didn't mean for it to sound like that lol. I just wanted to make sure I could explain to you as best as I could, what I believe to be the 'unlockable styles.' But seriously 100% those skins you stated can be included. Like if I took it from your perspective those 100% make the list, but I looked at it souly from the multiple stage skins that we saw in chapter 1 and chapter 1 only).

    0:37 I unlocked all of the extra levels for Drift, Ragnarok, Calamity and Lynx, but I don't know if I unlocked them all for Dire and Rox too.

    I still remember grinding everyday to get to drift and ragnaroks max style thinking we wouldn’t be able to upgrade their progression because of the previous seasons battlepass , was very shocked and disappointed to see that people could still upgrade them even after the season ended

    • @TheKidDrippy
      @TheKidDrippy  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Same, it just doesn’t give the skin much value as it did for omega and carbide. Epic was quiet about it too I actually just found out not that long ago. So it sucks for those who were grinding for that max style like me and you, and then you realize oh well as long as you have the skin you’ll always be able to max it out. I Appreciate the comment btw, love interacting with the community!

    I feel like Epic won't add back unlockable styles from gaining levels/XP because of how easy XP gain is nowadays. Back in Chapter 1 you had to play like 20 games to level up a few times nowadays you play the right creative map your leveling up every 10-20 minutes.

      Yet people complain it’s too hard to level up. I’ve gotten to level 200 already in this season. Like that’s not a challenge, it’s just a background reward.

    • @wet0wl

      To be fair, that was effectively his second edit style. The only reason it wasn’t in the main battle pass was the car pate.

    • @TheKidDrippy
      @TheKidDrippy  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yea Mando for sure can be considered. Tbh I forgot because I didn’t play much that season. The way of unlocking his styles are different than just simply XP or levels, but you can argue for him to have been included in this. I simply just focused on XP/level based skins and that was it. Thanks for reminding me about that; I appreciate the comment btw!

    • @TheKidDrippy
      @TheKidDrippy  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey thanks for the comment. After researching, you can’t unlock the final style for fade anymore. Epic only allowed you to unlock styles past the end of a season for chapter 1 season 5 all the way to chapter 1 season 9. They stopped allowing this in Season X

    • @NH9i
      @NH9i 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s kinda disappointing because I really wanted the last style for fade cuz he looks super cool
