The property was abandoned in 1999 and has never seen another owner since, despite that it remains in incredible condition with very little mold or vandalism. Took some constructive criticism and tried to be quieter in this video and get back to my filming roots about capturing the true ambiance of exploring abandoned homes. Your comments are welcomed and I thank every one of you for joining !
I like it when you’re chatty, don’t listen to them
I prefer when you talk while explaining the things you see. Especially when you get excited when you see something funny 😄
Don’t listen to the critics. Your talking is the best part
I prefer the talk as if you are speaking directly to each & every one of your followers
I think the house could be really cool. Is it for sale? Does anyone know what this kind of property would be priced at?
Please don't stop commenting. Ignore the negativity of these people. I love the calmness of your voice over your wonderful videos ❤
Don’t listen to the critics. Your talking is the best part.
Yes!
This! I much enjoy the commentary!
I agree 10000%!! I literally watch just to hear him talk about all of these iconic places and his fascinating findings.🙏🏽
@@chaosisaladder877 trying to find a healthy in between of sharing my thoughts but also capturing the location how it remains. Always trying to be better
@@DarkExplorationkeep on killing it
brother!! Wish I was exploring with you
What a waste of a cool house. I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could.
That’s not how the world works 😂
It hurts my heart to know that this beautiful, well-built house is going to be demolished. We are such a wasteful society. Thanks for lighting up the fireplace like that, it was a cool trick!
please don’t give up on the commentary! i love the history and context that you provide, it’s my favorite! it also separates your channel from the rest (:
Your chill commentary and authenticity is what keeps me coming back. You’re respectful of the property’s and don’t try to make it something that it’s not.
As I understand it, narrow hall ways were only a transition from one room to another. Bedrooms were smaller, too, as mostly just for sleep. The larger rooms were the communal/gathering rooms, as family members were to spend time together. The architect Frank Lloyd Wright brought those ideas back to the US and used them in his designs, as well.
Microwaves in the '80's had a "wood grain" look.
That kitchen is from the '90's or early 2000's.
From what I researched, the cheaper microwaves had the “wood grain look” however the more expensive ones didn’t. Also funny enough, 1980s microwaves from Asia, didn’t have the wood grain look either
That looked like either a Possum or a Racoon from the quick glance we got. And yeah, love your work, dude. You're one of of the best when it comes to visiting these places.
I thought it looked like a opossum, too.
Try broken window theory aswell! Great group of guys.
Oh my. Love your commentary!!! Please don’t stop 🙏
I love this house. The halls are a little pokey, but I love it. If nothing else, I might build something similar in the Sims.
8:40 1970's Water-pik on the counter..Used to have one. That brings back some memories
12:57 Laundry room
13:20 That's a "Jack and Jill" bathroom, but strange to see it connected to a laundry room. It usually links 2 bedrooms.
That kitchen would have been the first part of the 2007 remodel (it usually is...brings the most return on investment). They finished it, and then it NEVER got used. Amazing.
No one has ever cooked in that kitchen
31:00 Possum
cool stuff. Another thumbs up 👍
The possum 😆 "I think it's a vulture" 🤣
Great breakdown😂funny tho I suspect wasn’t intended to be such! Thanks 😊
45 seconds in I gotta say I LOVE the music haha❤❤❤
This place looks more 1975 to 1985 to me tbh
This house is absolutely gorgeous in every way .
Please don't stop with the commentaries! If some people don't like it they can just move on. But on what I've read, a lot of us enjoy your calm voice. Please keep doing the comments!!! I really enjoy all your videos
My fave vids of yours are exploring old places like this.☺
Idem.
Devin your storytelling and perspective is what sets you apart keep up the great work 🫶😊 much love from Indiana
Fascinating layout. It’s so different from what we in the US are used to seeing, I’d love for someone with knowledge on the style to chime in and give context.
I was a child in the 70s and our neighbors had an intercom system in their home. As far as I know it was an outdated amenity by the 80s.
Such an interesting explore. Thank you for this, it was quite a treat. 🙏
Yes i did stay till the end very cool and sad also 👍😉
i watch these while i work so the talking and narration actually helps a lot, don't stop!!
This is such a beautiful house, what a shame nobody wants to renovate it and move in. It's quirky and the foliage NEEDS to be tamed, but it would make a great family home in my opinion.
Your voice is so soothing. I love watching these videos. They are calming and fascinating at the same time.
I hope it's a joke with these comments about your commentary. Are you supposed to say less? No joke, none of us are writing for a silent exploration. The way you record, the music, the editing, the commentary, the quality of the equipment you use, your skills, your experience - it all adds up to urbexes and each of these elements is equally important. Absurd, absolutely not silent, because you have the makings of a TV presenter, not a silent extra of your explorations. As for the house itself, it is certainly remarkable. It didn't win my heart despite the fact that I'm all for the use of natural materials in interiors, especially wood. It is very raw, cold and the layout of the rooms completely fails to convince me. I fully understand that it is nothing more than a specific style, quite rare. Great to see such gems here. It's a shame that the house has been demolished. It's another example of the transience of material things. No matter how beautiful they are, they are not eternal anyway. What for one will be a house whose every detail has been cared for, for another will be something he will demolish without regret.
New appliances did not even have the protective screen taken off yet
it was definitely a possum at 31:00 this house was amazing. thank you!
"thats how you know they had money - minifridge" - crazy thing to say in a huge mansion)
For the 80s though!? Had to be some serious coin
I’m amazed there’s still power, yet the companies will send expensive bills if we use our utilities. Had there been mold free, I’d move in
Nice explore..reminds me of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed house. Cool. Love it!
New owners must have run into a lot of issues, and ran out of money, or didn’t want to waste more cash. And what a HUGE property!!
Ive watched so much of this channel ive started dreaming that im exploring abandoned places!
You are my favorite urbexer! You are always so respectful and just seem like an all-around amazing person!
Thank you buddy...your dialog is so important to your story...Please continue to talk to us. 🤗big hug, Take care. Donnie
Really cool place! My favorite part of the house was the fire pit. The outside area was calm & relaxing, but I bet mosquitos would eat me up. Also think there should have been a little bit of outside area with an awning. Sit outside & enjoy the rain. I like a covered porch. Great explore, thanks for showing us. Just a shame a big family didn't want it.
That house was awesome! I’d love
To own it. So sad it’s lost to nature. Thanks for the video. ⚜️
Oh yeah bamboo is very invasive! Will keep growing and growing. This place needs a lot of work. Great explore!! 😊😊😊
Thank you for this video. That house was gorgeous and I loved seeing it so thoroughly. I really like that kind of architecture with.all the natural light and materials. Oh to be rich instead of so darn good looking😂!!
@ 13:48 that appears to be the laundry room. You can see the see the dryer vent at the floor and the water hookup box on the wall. The restroom right before is called a jack and jill bathroom. Basically 2 separate toilet/sink areas with a shower in between them. So it would be Bathroom - Shower - Bathroom
My guess is, this house is quite far away from any town, to actually be interesting to anyone.
Although you could clearly see that the owners tried to do something over here, in order to make it useable again.
It was clearly well built. The chances that a better home would be build over here are very slim. A newer one yes, but I have my doubts if better.
12:34 it was actually very common to have no ceiling lights in the living room area - you were expected to use floor and table lamps. Why, don’t ask me, but it was a thing at the time.
13:00 I’ve got a built-in ironing board in my house, built in about the same period. So the room it was in may have been a laundry room, rather than a kitchen.
Beautiful place, beautiful house l'd definitely move in there if I could.
Dark Exploration Films thanks for sharing this video with me i really enjoyed it and God Bless and thanks.
Awesome, thank you so much for your work!
That Jazz transition to natural sounds at the beginning was👌🏾
Very interesting video. Thanks! 👍
Gives me the creeps
Beautiful woods ❤ except I picture Jason with his hockey mask running or walking fast
- ok, so why doesn't anybody want it?
As always, the answer is money. Even if the purchase price got down to an attainable amount, the insurance and property tax would likely be unsustainable for most people.
Plus the cost of work that would have to be done to modernize and get rid of mold.
The only people who *can* afford it, would likely just buy something more modern.
Yeah buy something *"modern"* that's nothing but trash.
hi devin! one of your subscriber here from Indonesia 🙋🏻♀️
is it just me or i realized it seems like you have lost your weight?? pls don't listen to them, i really enjoyed your videos, keep going! youre amazing, doing a great job, hope you stay healthy always. we will always love you!
Good work.. appreciated. 😢
Creepy house with all the weirdly narrow hallways/doors and the creepy children's rooms with no accessable windos and the unusual floor plan and the absoluteyl creepy animal up there in the garden shed! 😵 And this is the reason why bamboo is not allowed to plant where I live unless you have a rhizome barrier.
I loved your video your voice is calming please don't ever stop. ❤
agreed, this cute guy has doing nothing wrong
I love your commentary. My only critique is that one time you thought a buffet was an entertainment center lol
That bamboo is amazing
Thank you for sharing 👍🏾
love your videos! I really feel like I'm there myself.
Hi 😊 The weird room is actually a work out room. The blue plastic step is for Step Aerobics, quite the work out craze in the 90's. The cushions are likely for Callisthenics
Devin, your thoughts and words are what make your videos stand out and above the others. Be authentically You! Love this video! Watching your videos makes me wish that somehow these houses were offered to people who want to take them on. Some, like this one and others I have seen on your channel don’t look like they deserve to be demolished. A little TLC and that could be someone’s beloved home again.
Enjoyed the video 👍
Japanese architecture always reminds me of japanese horror movies or stories. It seems like there is an environment that makes me uneasy. The ambiance is weird. It would be very scary to be there when it was dark. If a murder was committed, no one would know.
Very cool house and explore!!❤🎉
Nice explore - thanks for the tour!
The plant at 15:30 is angelica tree (Aralia elata)
The leaves of this plant can be eaten as a vegetable, so families would have cultivated that for various dishes i guess.
This tree is characterized by a pretty strong ability to reproduce through rhizome, and as long as rhizome enter the house, they will move around indoors and create vegetation space
tree at 29:30 is a paulownia tree(Paulownia coreana UYEKI, place of origin Ulleungdo, Korea)
That grows the fastest among woody plants, so in reality, it can grow to that size in just 3-4 years, not a decades.
In other words, the fact that this plant has entered an abandoned house means that it can quickly destroy and engulf the house due to its rapid growth rate.
I love your commentary! Please keep doing it 😊
Very cool house!
The commenting from you is what I love about your exploration videos 🤘
Loved this, so peaceful ❤
A nice modern Japanese home very nice.
We're told that on the occasion of the dismal idea of "Your property going back to the Bank", due to your inability to afford the payment, for whatever reason. Parents that "owned" the property passed away, no will, or none of the children want the property. But we're told that the Bank MUST have their money REPAID.
IF that were the case, wouldn't these Banks make some semblance of an effort to salvage what is available on the property? But they don't. Such a waste of craftsmanship, architecture, design, history . . . most likely the Banks property at this point, an incredible profit to be made from salvage and/or rehab. And yet, they don't.
The math just doesn't work. What is going on?
Banks just want money, and money only, and want to intimidate those in debt. And what a better way than to take your house?
Nobody wants to end on the Streets.
So people do stupid things like taking another loan in order to repay a loan and so on.
Some do have alternatives though, and it all ends by them giving up the property. In Bank nobody will take care of this, because they dont need to. They will make money anyway.
This house has beautiful in its day! Too bad nobody want’s it! Cool video bro! ❤️🤘👍
Can't wait 👍
Ooga booga
I would take this place in a heartbeat.
I think this was a very interesting explore. I would have enjoyed seeing what it looked like fully furnished and decorated back when it was first built. I thought the bedrooms were quite small and the windows were quite odd being so high up you couldn’t even see outside and enjoy the view. Stay safe out there!
this was amazing. very cool(slightly creepy but all empty dwellings are slightly creepy.its a rule) this is probably one of my favs ive seen of yours.the empty nunnery is my favorite one.or the Gothic one.ahh i have a few favs n cant choose
I loved that house. Also, look up what baby buzzards look like. They are damn ugly, lol. To me they look like the skeksis from The Dark Crystal
Edited for spelling
this was almost like a commercial office building or physician's office with all those identical little rooms, the only room I liked was the kitchen
nooo I love the commentary :((
Keep talking all you feel to, enjoy hearing your information, thoughts on what you see & your knowledge on the wonderful places & anything else you care to share. Your Great 👍 ignore the mean hearted strange people out there 😂 ❤ YOUR VIDEOS FROM PENNSYLVANIA 🎉
That was awesome house thanks I enjoyed watching
If he worked on computers in the late sixties he had to learn some codes. They were huge and very hard to program. No wonder he was able to afford that mansion. Computers were tough back then to deal with.
I’m going to have to agree with other people that your commentary is important. I like knowing how you feel about what you’re seeing and your descriptions of details that we don’t get on the other side of the screen, like smells, noises, etc. I can get ASMR elsewhere.
So sad seeing these homes go to waste.
I'd love to know where this is, if it's for sale, if so how much, and is it worth buying and cleaning up?
I like this vlog, Devin. May I know the title of the jazz selection? Thanks!
I used the Shazam app on my phone and it said it's the song Veils by Ennio Máno
Keep up the good work 🧡💙
From the 1900's 😂 Yeah, I suppose some of us are, lol.
Me included. Proudly
That Bamboo is terrible for foundations. You can see how strong the roots are, where it's broken through the door frame.
🆘🆘🆘👏👏👏 χαιρετισμός από ελλάδα! 🇬🇷📌
What stuck out to me was the fact that as old as the house is and with the size and number of windows in the place, none of the window seals are gone.
You would expect to see at least one or two windows frosted over because of worn window seals, but I didn't see any.
Quality windows put in that house.
Great video ! Very engaging !
Natural light, natural materials like wood and stone, winding traffic pattern... so beautiful and serene! The twisting pattern creates separate areas with a kind of mystery and surprise at what lies ahead. So much nicer than small windows and gypsum board mcmansions! Love your work. You have a fine sense of the artistic that's a pleasure to follow.
I am new to your channel, I already give you my thumb 👍, I like to see abandoned homes and listen to their history.
Looks like that closet had another door on the back wall
Epic! 👍👍
I like this house. I like modern Japanese design influences. I see how the house works.. but yeah it’s quite tight in there.
That small out building is what is used as a family shrine house. Japanese folks would have pictures and whatnot, incense burning, etc. There’s some TH-cam vids about Japanese culture and that’s how I deduced that.. but pretty cool nonetheless.. 🤔
this house my dream
If thr Power is still connected that might lend Climate Control to prevent thr house from Decaying
Very cool 60s modern. Bamboo is extremely invasive.
Really cool 😎🆒 but odd place even sitting on the other side of your camera it felt spooky
laundry room 13:32 Possum 31:00
Loved this one, so beautiful and thankfully not vandalized.
