  • @mtraven23

fun fact: they were only in the studio together for that "Veni, vidi, vici" line. The rest of it they did by one verse at a time, then the other would come in listen to the previous verse and then do theirs.
and in case you didn't know, "Farmers Blvd" was LL's block in queens, so when LL shouts out "8 mile", its a call back to that farmers line.

Em said “ As far as boulevards, I’m talking about Farmers like insurance claims” LL is from Farmer’s Boulevard & LL says “Professional I’m like a sniper from 8 miles away” paying homage to Em ❤❤

9:14 Straight facts. 💯🔥Your mom has good taste. When you refer to a rapper as the "Goat" you are looking at who came up with that. I feel like LL doesn't get even close to the props he definitely deserves. Dude is almost 60 and still look fine as hell to. This is like a dream come true for us Xers. It's my favorite rapper with his favorite rapper. ❤❤❤

What I think I love most about this, is Em really let LL shine!!!! Like, LL is Marshalls idol and I think he wanted, when he had this opportunity to rap with his idol, to really let LL be the main attraction and yet bring his own magic too cuz as he says "LL created a monster". It's just really the most beautiful, brilliant song I've heard in years & years! ❤❤❤❤❤💯🔥🔥🎶🎵👏👏👏

They're not really from different eras, L L is 56 and EMINEM🐐 is 52. Eminem has always said L L was his biggest inspiration and his favorite rapper. L L had a front row seat when Eminem was inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. Saw a short where L L said he was hanging out with Q-tip (from A Tribe Called Quest) and Q-tip played this beat for him. L L said "I bet Eminem would get on a beat like this." And of course L L has Eminem's private phone number so he called up Em and they got it done. 3 legends made this gem!🔥💯❤️✌️

I'm gonna offer a friendly amendment here... how about "original" vs "real" fans? My kids (one has passed on) are "real" fans, hell they are kids raised by a genx'er who grew up during the infancy of rap. They are not the originals though. This makes them no less than me. They are real even if they never saw the cover of rock the bells, etc. And hell I'm half blind, I could not see the t until he was closer up BUT I am real and original! The last thing any of us need to be doing is separating people by any reason. We have enough that shit coming up for the next four years. Why don't we include people in the fold. Doesn't make me any better that I grew up during the 80s when this began, just makes me more knowledgeable about it so I share the knowledge. I don't beat people up with it, spread love baby not hate.

Danced for them as a kid. So I didn’t listen to Def Jam’s Pop version of LL, I rocked “Jack the Ripper” and “Go Cut Creator” plus the Original “MURDERGRAM”, all these fake fans didn’t even know there was a First. Research everything I say there are receipts 🧾

That was the radio pop appeal of What Def Jam pushed.
Image over artist, that was the late 80s early nineties model labels followed. No internet and they had full control to distribution of the artist music. The day they ran numbers with the release of LL’s video “I need Love”
This was the stamp to mainstream, but the streets back then knew L as a battle rapper aka Jack the Ripper. Why do you think he’s Eminem’s idol.

To be honest.. when I first heard you saying you were listening to it cuz your father-in-law ask you to and that your mother had loved LL Cool J I didn't expect a lot.. any of the background never been exposed to rap even much less all the background. The three my journey of learning about Eminem I've learned a lot about the history as well from people in the comments in different reactors. And from that journey I also learned that if you don't know some of that a lot of it doesn't click. Anyway.... I wanted to give you a pat on the back that even without that exposure you picked up on things about how they were given a props to each other and how a lot of that goes into it and makes it what it is. As far as recs: The album Walking With a Panther has a tarnished reputation because it has some truly rancid mushy love songs, but if you want to hear LL RAPPIN RAPPIN like this, that's the album to hit up: "It Gets No Rougher", "Nitro", "Droppin' Em" just to name a few. (There's also a lot of good stuff on Radio, Bigger and Deffer, Mama Said Knock You Out and, to a slightly lesser extent, 14 Shots to the Dome -- "How I'm Comin" is still dope)

Dude, it’s well documented LL Cool J. It was like next to Dre a second mentor for Eminem, specially in the second half of his career. The rope chain you see where he got from LL Cool J as a gift you don’t spend six figures on a fucking rope chain for some random when you LL Cool J . I even think he had M&M is one of his inductors into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame if memory serves I don’t mean inductors like he was in because LL got him before him, but I think he performed with LL. You know after the induction when they perform. Was definitely there when inducted and was wearing LL’a rope chain
