Whereas, these dragsters, as amazing as they are, came from an antiquated engine design that dates back to the 50s. Still cheaper than an average F1 race though.

At least the blower cars don't have stovepipes sticking 2 feet out each side of the fenders, and all that ridiculous bouncing and hopping on the starting line. Plus backfiring and popping.

At 13:31 there is a vent coming up out of the decklid. Anyone know what that is? At first I thought it might be some kind of jetted continuous purge for a nitrous system but that seems to be a turbo car.
Turbos usually need a way to breathe some more than others. Most people with turbo cars hide the vents in the front clip and sometimes in the hood. Usually depends on turbo placement. It’s very common to see turbo cars have a regular set of headers as well as a turbo vent

I totally agree. I'll be glad when all that whistling, huffing and popping is gone. Doc's 959 cubic inch Monte Carlo doesn't have any problem with the backfiring, jumping up-n-down on the starting line turbo cars. There's no replacement for displacement /ci.
Turbos are the better way. As far as the bump stop starting is concerned, those drivers for some reason aren’t using a smooth stage bump box. Must be a preference. I kind of like the variation. They seem like they can’t help themselves and just wanna race. I grew up watching mountain motor cars and will always have a soft spot for the sounds of those too.

It seems like the faster and bigger the cars get the more of a chance for them to break...alot of races were only one car makes a normal run....it's not who has the fastest car but who's car won't break lol..but then again I seen people's cars breaking and they still run 10 seconds 😂
Small tire is a radial tire, no taller than 27" , big tire is a bias plie tire, no taller than 36". Major differences tire-wise and how it makes the car act (or feel) during the race.

They are going 1320 feet....the big boys quit running the quarter mile several years ago. Were going too fast by the time they hit the quarter. Too many wrecks.

There’s only one class at this event that ran N/T. The rest all show times. ProMods are running in the 5’s at 230+mph.
