    I was just about to mix in a plastic water bucket when I thought 'well, why not watch a video on how to mix first?'. VERY glad I did. Thank you!

    This is the best teacher as I have looked so many videos. You started from the scratch and showed us the materials bags and how to mix it all. Others just show you already mixed plaster missing out the basics. Thank you teacher and think everyone should subscribe to this teacher.

    Great tutorial for a mix. Prefer to see the peaks as you clearly explained instead of sticking rigidly to using British Gypsum standard 11.5 ltrs of water to a bag, which for an amateur like me I find makes it too stiff. Please be very careful using the bucket trowel to remove lumps near a rotating whisk though!
    Look forward to seeing more videos.

    Hi don’t know if I vacant get some advice off anyone. I’m new to plastering I laid on my first coat of multi finish on a large ceiling. The second coat set to quickly and I could only cover a third of the ceiling as it was drying out like crazy and couldn’t spread the mix. I burnt out my drill so couldn’t make more. To cover what I have already done should I pva the whole ceiling and start again using an extra time retardant? With one or two coats of skim.?

    Hi I see bellow to avoid using whisk attachment for drill, why is this? I can't justify a full mixer just for the wall a have to attempt
    Thanks

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, if it's just for the odd wall I'm sure a whisk attachment would be fine. It's just the plaster mixing can burn drills out as it can take 5-10 mins of non-stop mixing. Hope that helps,👍

    Do you have preferred brand for the power mixer?

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I've always just used pretty low cost ones, that you can get at Screwfix, around the £100 mark. But I've recently just purchased a DeWalt cordless mixer and it's incredible. Incredibly expensive to but definitely the best mixer I've ever used. I'd say it's personal preference but the cheap ones take around 10 mins to mix where as the new DeWalt one is done in around 2 to 3 mins. That said
      Is happily use a cheap one again if I had to. Just avoid using a whisk attachment for a standard drill.

    do you ever use board finish or is multi better

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We almost always use multi but board finish is essentially the same. You are able to use multi finish on plasterboard but not board finish on PVA as a general rule, so it's just more convenient for us.

    Once you’ve mixed your plaster, you have to wash your bucket and tools straight away? Where do you put your plaster then? Do you take it out the bucket and leave it on the floor?

  • @obesiriusmusic

    Worst explanation ever u didn’t even give us measurements as to how much part of water compared to powder. That’s way too much plaster for the job i want to get done.
