Violin Technique Tips - Finding 5th Position - Shifting

- Learn some quick tips that will help you locate and learn how to shift into fifth position from first position and third position on your violin. Use good violin technique with my shifting technique tips. I teach you a violin shifting exercise that will help you go from 1st position, to 3rd position and then to 5th position.
I talk about 'target' notes and ask you thinking questions so you can really think about what we're doing during the shifting. It's great ear training! I also talk about the violin hand thumb position and what it should look like in 5th position, as well as why it is important to be holding your violin properly.
I give you a preliminary motion to practice what the thumb does during the shifting on the violin fingerboard.
