math Ross wasn't the first to role play his Let's Play, but he was definitely the best. Most people who try it end up falling into one of two camps: either they take the game's own lore waaay too seriously and it just sort of gets weird and fan fictiony, or they refuse to commit to the premise at all and you end up with an exhausting series of self-aware "jokes" that just make it a chore to sit through. Where it seems to work consistently is with LPers who use role play solely as a means to the end of making a joke, then switching back to being themselves. Very very few could ever do what Ross pulled off with this series. Also, keep in mind that if the game doesn't have a silent protagonist - or does but has an overt story - playing as the voice of the protagonist simply doesn't work. The placement of episode 0 on the official playlist is incorrect, based on the original release. Currently, it's placed between episodes 37 and 38, but it was originally released between episodes 34 and 35. In its original placement, episode 0 can do a better job at acting as a sort of flashback sequence that Gordan Freeman experiences as a dream, after he is knocked out in episode 34, and before he regains full consciousness in episode 35. That was probably Ross Scott's original intent, for episode 0.

I wondered why he didn't recognize the suit batteries and never used the wall chargers. He never reached that point in training! It makes so much sense now...
I just noticed that he had said in a previous episode that he hadn't fired a gun before, and lo and behold, he stopped before getting to that portion of the training course, thus maintaining continuity. I still can't be sure if it was intentional or not.
I know black mesa incoperated tutorials with hte actual game, i sort of wish the hazard course was there, but i also want the same people to give gunman chronicle the same treatment, does anyone remember that game?
I never noticed it before, but you can hear the hologram/Gina's voice actor trying not to laugh as she says "you will have to perform both moves at the same time"
This explains why he never uses batteries or charging stations for his HEV suit. He never got to the part where they explain how this system works. His suit has infinite power because he doesn't know that it can be charged up. Genius!

Remember it takes 6 months to build a rolls Royce but just 16 hours to build a Toyota.
Don't forget Machinima.com kept delaying the episodes ;P
KeiYama43 that's no flaw
I'm sold; Imma watch this entire series starting today. Very nicely done by the way. If this wasn't scripted before recording I'd be uber impressed.
"Q: Do you record the audio for Freeman’s Mind as you play? Is it a script?
A: I generall think ahead of one or two jokes for an episode, then think of what to say during editing. It’s not live, but it’s not scripted either."
I copied that from the FAQ of the Accursed Farms Website

Grazzi, now I am truly impressed. Oh, and I am currently on episode 59, and no, I did not no-life it, I just watched it between working on reports. Thanks again.

Dude i am not going to judge you for watching what you like and when you do it. Also calling it nolife just because you got the time to watch it would be unfair. Could be any reason why you can watch it over that time period.
I as an example watched about 100 episodes of Chilled Chaos TTT once. Why? Because there was nothing else todo. Was while i was in school and it was holiday soooo :D
***** Eyup..... that was my reason anyway. Interesting thought though.... Thanks for that.
Ass slappage has made it’s way in my daily vernacular thanks to this episode.
So, recently I saw _Pulp Fiction_ for the first time, and suddenly the "gimp closet" joke both makes more sense and is more horrifying…
9 year ago... Hard to believe, I still remember it like if I've watched it last summer. May be I did, because here I am again o)
I had to ask my brother for help with 3:49 back when i was a kid
wait rewatching again? damnit brain!!....thanks.
I am now double the age I was when this first came out. I know I have no right to, but this is making me feel old. I practically grew up with this. I have regularly watched it hundreds of times by this point.
3rd times I'm watching this series. Still awesome :D.
me too
wait, EPISODE 34, then EPISODE 0? NO WONDER I WAS CONFUSED
I like how the last one is Freemans Mind Episode 68, and this is Episode 0. He didn't want episode 69!
It would be impressive if this was cannon to the skills of Freeman in the rest of the Freeman's mind episodes
I love this dude and the weird but relatable character he created
Freemans Mind with Portal would be great. Or Freemans Mind in HL2.
SnoopysOtherBird well, he said that he has thought of it, but he has a big project so he may delay that series for a little longer...
SnoopysOtherBird HE HAS TO MAKE THE MOVIE!
SnoopysOtherBird HE HAS TO MAKE THE MOVIE!
SnoopysOtherBird HE HAS TO MAKE TH-
+Wrath's Attack They wanted to make the janitor clean that up for minimum wage, but he refused.
I'm surprised Gordon didn't comment on the BLOODY HAND-PRINTS after the "lemming" portion of the test.
Love this! Watched them all in one day. Great Fun!
2:32 I cannot stop laughing! XD
I wondered why he didn't recognize the suit batteries and never used the wall chargers. He never reached that point in training! It makes so much sense now...
Having played Half Life, I think this is a clever way of cutting out the weapons portion of the tutorial.
I find it slightly funny that they included long jumping in the tutorial despite the fact that you never even use it until the very last levels.
Wow, quite the surge.
Guess I should keep up to date on his website.
I my head cannon, this is what Gordan Freeman is actually like when he isn't busy being a silent personalityless protagonist.
I just noticed that he had said in a previous episode that he hadn't fired a gun before, and lo and behold, he stopped before getting to that portion of the training course, thus maintaining continuity.
I still can't be sure if it was intentional or not.
3:03: What that scientist said brings back some Thief: The Dark Project/Gold memories.
Funny that I can picture Gordon sounding like that. An alternate universe where Valve made Gordon more like Duke Nukem.
Thanks for the sub box full of Win!
All these videos have found a new home. Now we can forget all about Machinima.
i really hope he does an Episode 0 part 2
I don't think he's going go since Freeman mentions that he's never fired a gun before and you do get to pickup a gun later in this course.
just found this. i think im going to like it here.
hmm considering where this is placed in the playlist you might be able to call this (chronogically) a dream/nightmare.
I guess it's time for a Freeman's Mind marathon.
Gotta be the funniest episode so far, especially the wiping your ass bit. LOL.
I like how TH-cam can’t figure out what game you’re playing
I know black mesa incoperated tutorials with hte actual game, i sort of wish the hazard course was there, but i also want the same people to give gunman chronicle the same treatment, does anyone remember that game?
The UNIVERSE is going to check this, Ross.
Finally, I found this fucking show
I never noticed it before, but you can hear the hologram/Gina's voice actor trying not to laugh as she says "you will have to perform both moves at the same time"
This explains why he never uses batteries or charging stations for his HEV suit. He never got to the part where they explain how this system works.
His suit has infinite power because he doesn't know that it can be charged up. Genius!
I wish They have a Chell's mind
sidex15 They do now! (It's not that good of a series though.)
sidex15 They have a lot of them, but the original is by Cyhanide.
Rampant Mouse *The only one worth watching.
sidex15 There is a pretty good one by CyhAnide, but unfortunately it seems to be abandoned. Though she did comment 5 months ago that "Chell's Mind isn't quite dead, but I have to decide whether to let it go or bite the bullet and finish it eventually."
They should make a Rage Guy's Mind based on Rage.
Please proceed to the next area XD
This was OSOOOOON!
6:07 Sierra Madre casino anyone?
Well, only with mysterious lasers instead of knives.
fallout new vegas?
Yep
Yessssss
supchppt
Those holograms are still nightmare fuel.
They were like the first thing in the game that you CANNOT fight.
I just got spammed by every episode of Freeman's Mind, but I'm cool with it. Time for a marathon I believe.
Awesome that the HEV-suit has the Same voice as in Subnautica (Half live was the best )
