Promises to Israel apply to us because according to Romans 11 someone who believes in Christ is automatically grafted into Israel. There is no church outside of the people of Israel. James addresses Christians as "the twelve scattered tribes", and Peter describes Christians in the same way as Israel is described in the Pentateuch (a holy nation, a chosen people)
