The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

When he invited those ambassadors to his palace, which he did intentionally anyway, and started off with I" rule this supreme empire" to summing-up with "I'm saying it all to make you feel relaxed", (off course he wanted to justify and compensate his statements and claims of being a sultan in himself), all of his words blew my mind away ..
Him being sitting on that chair depicting Sultan Suleyman, wearing those rings and dressing up exactly like Sultan, all that is shouting loudly that he's his eyes on Suleyman's throne ..
Like it wasn't enough, he went on taking hand kisses like Suleyman too ..
On the other hand, Suleyman was reminiscing old times in awe with this snake disguised as friend .. Oh, how good-hearted Suleyman was ..

This whole series should've been called Scheming Scamming Ingrates! Considering what life must've been like for ordinary people back then, you'd think these women would be grateful to have been chosen to live in a Palace, dripping in jewels, their every want and need catered to by servants. Even if they never became a favourite of the Sultan, they still got to enjoy all these perks before being married off to some wealthy statesman. But no, it's just one murderous plot after another. They had no internet, no tv shows to watch, just jewels and other people to keep them entertained and fed. Of course, living with people you dislike for years- always having to be in their vicinity, never being allowed to leave the palace - will make them a bit aggressive and cause stuff like this. Also, I think there was a rule for the concubines and their kids back then. Apparently, once the king crowns the son of his choice, the other sons have to be killed so there would be peace and less fighting for the throne after.
That's why Suleiman has no brothers around him and why the concubines are so intent on getting the majesty's favor. Even if you end up leaving the palace, you'd probably be just another Nigar Kalfa or Daye (manipulated or robbed by men). Being a woman back than sucked tremendously.

As i watch this series, they don't value life.. They value their religion but they don't know that they are committing big sin, murder, adultery etc. Their beliefs makes them hypocrite. Sorry to say but it's true until this days. How come it's a big crime to fall in love with a woman who isn't born just like their race.. They are too blind that their blood is superior than the blood of those who they force to serve them. They captured them and treat them as a slave and and they will look down on them as if they don't have value, my goodness.. When will people know that we are all equally created, yes!! The reason why Mahidevran did that was because Hurrem did not respect her from the beginning. She was looked down upon. Forgetting that she was a slave, she spoke disrespectfully to Mahidevran. After getting Suleyman's love, it increased.. Mahidevran did that to her, that's the reason.. But Hurrem did bigger things to her.. Hurrem started all this. Her greatness.
