    One of the best videos covering this I've seen. It also looks a lot easier wrenching on a lifted truck... I need to get on that lol

    Thanks, for doing this video. Just purchased a 2016 2500 Heavy Duty diesel. First time having to do dual fuel filters. Got the shock of having a Dodge Dealership do my first oil/fuel filter changes. Billed me over $550, parts and mostly labor cost and 4 hour wait time. Thanks to you, never again.

    Good morning Matt Harmening , question for you about oil .:: will that synthetic blend oil work for 6.7 ? And do you think chevron 15w-40 syn- blend oil will work as well beside shell full synthetic oil? … every 5,000 miles or every 3,000 miles for oil changes ? (If as a daily driving that truck) that’s something I’d like to know before I consider buying my next truck as I’m doing some research and homeworks before buying my next truck

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you get a good synthetic oil (don’t worry too much about brand name) in the correct weight for you truck, you should be good for 5000 miles.

    • @TheMinnow101
      @TheMinnow101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems like a lot of these Ram oil change videos seem to gloss right over that. “Here’s the dirty filter tucked up the front wheel liner; here’s the new filter installed.”

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They sell a plug that works really well. I don’t ever take the wheel off. amzn.to/3TnZ607

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought around 3:30 I explained the use of a oil filter plug. You don’t need to remove the wheel although it’s easier. Just reach in, loosen the filter and gently drop it down then reach in and twist in the plug and then you can pull the filter out without spilling oil. I also put links in the description for the plug I used. th-cam.com/video/gzQd6NI9_iQ/w-d-xo.html

    Is the 15-40 same as the 10-30 on t6?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure but 10-30 is thinner and probably will not protect or last as long as 15-40.

  • @AirRyanTX
    @AirRyanTX ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Be careful on 2019+ 6.7 Cummins owners; they switched to hydraulic lifters in 2019+ and Cummins specifically says that 15w-40 could give you problems with those lifters. Stick with the 10w-30 Summer and 5w-40 for winter on 2019+ 6.7 Cummins.

    How many miles do you change everything at?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do the oil and fuel at the same time once sometimes twice a year. Good oil lasts up to 6 months but I don’t drive a lot so if you drive a lot more maybe every 3-4 months. Your dash alerts should keep you up to date though.

  • @johnnavy2879

    Why do you use 15w40 instead of 5w40?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, I just always thought that it was best recommended? Maybe I am wrong? But from what I’ve read, due to the high compression of diesel motors, they need high viscosity oil, such as 15W-40

      Not sure. I’d say go with what is recommended by Dodge for your specific vehicle. I believe a 0w-40 high synthetic is recommended. For what you invested in the vehicle, I’d go with a high quality recommended oil.

      Prices must have gone up lately just like everything else in our crazy political world. You can try knockoff brands on Amazon or EBay or other online sources but sometimes they work fine and sometimes they are not a perfect fit or the seals leak. I’d say go with with you can afford and try a lower cost brand. It may work out perfectly fine.

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure there is a way to do that, I’m just not 100% sure how it works on Rams. I believe you have to press the brake, push start button, then release the brake then push start button again to abort? Do that a few times to cycle the fuel and you should be good. If that don’t work check the manual on “how to” with a push to start. Good luck...
