Hey man, realy informative video about the kind of nuances that make Dominions such a cool and complex game. Now as constructive criticism, as someone who has worked on the phone and giving presentations, try to limit your „ehms“ and „uhms“ to a minimum. In this quantity it can be very distracting. I recommend practicing a Script one or two times with an extra focus on these kinds of things (filler words such as „right?“ or „like“ are also common candidates). It will help you until you have enough confidence to not need it anymore. I used to do that also with a timer set to whatever the timelimit of my presentation was, to ensure I wouldn‘t go overtime. I hope it came off in the constructive spirit it was given, keep going, you will get better😊
I need to issue small correction after more testing - displacement of smaller units only happens if the bigger unit exceeds the smaller by 3 or more size points, not double. The mount on LA Agartha confused me because it is both double and +3 bigger than the human infantry.
Appreciate you posting! I love using those little goblins. Getting in the weeds is the best part of Dominions sometimes. Thanks again for the heads up on the asps. I've been trying to think of the best way to use the extra space in Andramania since the dogs are size 4.
Another consideration is with battlefield obstacles and other props taking up space, it affects how many units can fit in a square. For example, some shrubs are size 2 and would keep most cavalry from being two to a square
My first takeaway from the size changes was that I can now take larger on yavana without it lowering their attack density, but I didnt think about possibly using markata (or insects) to increase their relative defense in the square. More animal specific buffs also make the markata and bandar attractive but I have little experience with a more scales focused kailasa so id have to see.
Tigers especially being size 4 also matters because while Larger isn't good for repel anymore, Tiger Riders love a larger bless; doesn't harm their troop density, gives a good chunk of hit points and some strategic mobility, and now the strength bonus will apply to the bite and claws of the mount which it didn't in Dom5.
I think the displacement system really buffs imps and howl. I have had frustrating battles where imps blocked the lanka sacred from engaging. And being able to have a thug wade through wolves is a huge buff
I apologize but I need to issue a correction after further testing. Displacement only happens if the larger unit is 3 or more larger in size, not double. So Lanka sacred demons will only displace imps if they are enlarged. Imps will be displaced easily by blood nations with access to horse cavalry, centaur, and giants. Howl wolves are size 3 so it would work with Jotun giants (size 6), to think of a nation with good access to Howl and size 6 troops.
I agree I'm sorry it can be hard to listen to. English is my second language so I do that while I'm translating quickly in my head sometimes certain words

5:00 this still applies to Pangaea and Asphodel. Centaurs are not mounted, so they go to size 6 if they have a Larger bless.

Great and informative video , thanks , subbed for more.
Great video. Love the detail!

Also, since Bandar are s4 and Markata s2, it should be possible to use Markata as a melee screen and have Bandar displace them as they come in.
Fascinating! Thanks for the information!
Also, the new summon spell Fay Folk that Glamor/Nature can cast makes size 2 units that mix with larger ones

I was thinking tarts in the late game when everyone is rigored.
8:00 this is actually awesome as fuck
I have no idea why TH-cam recommended this video to me but I vaguely remember playing/seeing this game somewhere xd
Good insights, but it would help if you got rid of filler words. Constant 'ehh' are not pleasant to listen to.

@@Milorada7375 I think you did well!

Not everyone is an amazing speaker dude, some need more time to pull their thoughts together
