  • Doug Aitken's Underwater Pavilions consist of three temporary underwater sculptures moored to the ocean floor. Geometric in design, they create living environments that reflect and refract light, opening a portal that physically connects the viewer to the expanse of the ocean. By merging the language of contemporary architecture, land art, and ocean awareness, the Underwater Pavilions are a living artwork within a vibrant ecosystem.

    I feel like you Mr. Aitken would be a great cinematographer. Like your videos are way better than most movies this days.

    Absolutely LOVED diving these at Casino Point! Even made a short vid about it. Thanks for going through all the effort to do this. Love your work. :)

    Are these still moored to the ocean floor at Catalina? If so, for how much longer? I scuba in Catalina and will be going again next month. I'd love to see these in person...
