  • Wind is the most important element for Kitesurfing, so as a Kitesurfer it is always better to know how the wind is formed so you might better predict the forecast for your sessions.

Petar, your videos are awesome. For someone like me who's been out of the water for a while and coming back to it this is fantastic. Love the way you clearly explain theory and turn it into actionable, easy to recall and apply experience.

    Good stuff!
I've found that the isobars are incredibly helpful where I am. We're lucky to have a few high resolution short term models too. That can help approximate if localized pressure gradients will form and if they're "tilted" in the right direction to help create wind.
It's far from an exact science, but it helps a lot!

Nice.. yes, definitely is not easy to predict the forecast 100% but when you understand what you have to watch for each location becomes quite accurate for you to guess the forecast. 🙌

Yess, me too, I didn't know anything about how the wind appears for many years being a kitesurf instructor 😅 It's not something you must know as a kitesurfer, but this basic knowledge can really help in predicting better the forecast.

Ah..mmmm.. how can I put it... I don't want to be the nasty guy again (i'm a specialist of geophysical fluid dynamics), but I must say it's not easy to explain atmosphere/ocean circulation with simple words. The thermal breeze is actually also geostrophic (i.e.: Coriolis influenced), which is obvious in many places as it is more parallel to the beach and coming from the right (in the Northern Hemisphere) than blowing from sea to shore. Also about the low/high pressure systems, it's more complicated than that but I have to admit I don't think I would do a lot better in only a few minutes on youtube... Nice effort anyway !! :)

Hey, thank you for taking it easy with me 😅
Yes, I'm sure that there is much more to talk about to go in depth details and in depth understanding, which for us normal people could be to much hehe.. also as I understood, predicting the forecast it's a very very complicated thing as well because all the climate changes happening in the world.
Again I want to just scratch the basic knowledge for people that don't have any idea about how the wind appears and what is most often the difference between High and Low pressure. I didn't know nothing about it even for many years working as an instructor, when I decided to learn it I could't find any easy understanding information or video. So I wanted to do the video just for warming up the brain of us normal people :)
But thank you for interacting, as I'm not expert in this I might learn something from you, and if I say something terribly wrong in the videos I would like that you mentioned to me so I can maybe correct it. thank you :)

@@kitesurfexperiencebypetar I want to say nothing is really wrong in what you explain, but it is not really true either, it's a bit more complicated as usual with science. Making popular science is actually a very difficult task. Please feel free to contact me if you need advice on a problem related with fluid dynamics or oceanography, I'm happy to help :)

Hello and thank you for your work!
But I have cognitive dissonance about the maps at 2:35. Moscow and London under 30?))
Could be better to put some capitals instead of wrong map or change map.
    Again thank you!)

Hello Yegor, thank you for watching :)
And yes now I have seen that the map I choose is not accurate, sorry for that, unfortunately now I cannot change it.
