I flew on this plane from Tampa to Indianapolis back in the late 80's with USair. This plane will always be magical. Back in 2010 I got lucky to ride from Lexington to Clearwater... this plane just makes me happy...

The JT8D definitely has a very distinctive hum. Sounds very cool.

I´ll always remember my last time in a MD88. Y was sitting in this same seat, traveling on my own as a teen, I pressed my ear as hard as I could against the plane wall, to hear the engine roar on take off ( I just LOVE how when it accelerates, that high pitch sound, suddenly turns into an incredible roar... ). I´ll miss the MD80´s....so much aluminium, so many rivets...that sound...

i like the sound of these engines from taxi to climb...whenever i think of these planes I can't get past the ATC audio of the alaska airlines flight from MX to SFO
