- This video features my round 8 Game from the Melbourne International Open. I was paired against a Candidate Master with a rating of 1962, so I was super nervous! However, I was able to find a winning tactic in less than 20 moves. This will really be a lesson in my time management, so hopefully I can learn for future to slow down and calculate more accurately!
I will be posting recaps for the rest of the rounds in upcoming videos, so please feel free to subscribe if you enjoyed it :D

I remember watching this game live on DGT! It was super exciting to follow your game and watch you find some brilliant ideas to hunt down black's king. Nice to hear the analysis and thought process behind those moves now. Unfortunately, one mistake made the position equal but that doesn't take away your credit for playing a stunning game vs a CM! Keep up the awesome performance, Hannah! 🙌😄
Thankyou so much!! I'm so glad you guys got to watch at least one of my games :D
Great video! I love the way you analyze the game. It was really entertaining. The video went by so fast!
Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful game. You'll become a great attacker... Keep going. Congratulations
Thanks !
great draw against a title player Hannah, good luck for the future rounds! :)
Thank you!! 😁
You played a good game in spite of not using much of your time. It is similar to Aronian who usually played fast until the middle game or end game or to the critical position and then he started to make some deep calculation. It is good to learn openings and to prepare the games because then you do not need to use lots of time in the opening game but you can play 5 or 10 or 15 moves fast to get to the middle game where you can go into deeper calculations.
The most important thing is to just relax, paly the position and enjoy your game.
Very good point! Knowing your openings makes a huge difference in terms of having enough time to calculate in the middle/endgame. My nerves got the best of me in this game, and I blitzed out everything when I should've paused at critical moments :')
Great game Hannah! Thank you for sharing!!
Good game. Well played 👍
*takes notes* Okay now trying to replicate that in my own tournament! ^^ Nice draw though :) Sad you missed the win though ^^
You can do it!
you got this, Jenny!
Seem to remember hannah saying Jenny's getting rekt in R1 , it's ok Jenny, I believe in you!!!!!
That was an impressive game I also wanted to play offline chess but there are no nearby tournaments where I live
WAHOOooOOI!!!! Round 8/9 I'm so excited! 😁 A draw against a titled player is no easy feat. Sorry to hear it was so close to a win. Regardless Well done. 👍I know I'd never be able to draw against a titled player. 😄 Maybe one day* though.
Edit: forgot word "day"
Hugely entertaining game. The win with h4 wasn't easy to find but the lines after that look relatively calculable. Finding it in the first place is obviously a major roadblock. A draw against someone who's within cooee of 2000ACF isn't to be sneezed at, even if some decisive moves were missed.
yes! My problem was that I’d already decided on the incorrect move. I’d like to think if I used more of my time that I would have calculated better. Room for improvement!
Good game, entertaining analysis. HOWEVER, Levy will never forgive you for not sacrificing the ROOOOOK.
hahaha Thankyou !!
unlucky game but shows your potential
thankyou very much!
Instead of Bb5 it's more practical to play Rb5 with Rc5 coming, and the much more suttle threat Ra5. For instance after Rf5, Qxg7 is incredibly winning, but there's the more stylish Ra5.
Yeah that's definitely a better idea :")
The chance to play h4 and sac your rook reminded me of Andersson vs Kieseritzky, the Immortal Game, and Take My Rooks by Yasser Sierawan, which features it.
A nicely played game. You should have won.
Thankyou! H4 would’ve been a super cool find. I just need to make sure I slow down and calculate next time! finishing with an hour on the clock means I definitely could’ve used a lot more time… All of part of the learning experience 😊
Excellent video.
Thank you very much!
Do you film your chess matches at your tournaments like Anna Cramling does?
I have done this for a few tournaments while I was travelling in Europe, but I'm a bit shy to do it at my local chess clubs. I'm not sure if they'd be too keen on me filming either :'). But I might ask in future and see if I could get that set up!
ALGORITHM COMMENT ALGORITHM COMMENT lol
WOWOOWOW ALGORITHM
keep it up
Oh wait this one was the draw.
Silly Goose Flew Too Fast
I heard Hannah scripts her games. They say her moves are all scripted and her games are fake. I don't think she is scripting her games, though. This looks pretty real to me. I subbed.
Excellent 👌
No goose opening 😢
I have to do it when it is least expected :")
peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo peepoRoo
If her games are not staged then they are very awkward🤔
I love this theory. How does it work?
hillu
For some reason her games feel staged 🤔
Absolutely ridiculous
Do better.......
Jokes aside, I really like this one, sharing your thoughts and in game experiences, really could feel like I understand your decisions, very acceptable video, lol, ❤❤❤
Thankyou hehe! glad you enjoyed 😊😊
Hi, you are beautiful physically, what do u think of women only master titles? Cool accent by the way. (Capture) CAPTCHA (center) CenTAH here (hiAa). I like those positions with white with the pawn on e5 grabbing space controlling f6
